Speeding is NOT a crime Reply to this message
Thank you for your information however traffic offences such as these

"Police need to find them offending for a sucessful prosecution."

If you wish to bring this particular vehicle to Police attention please contact the local Police

as "CRIME STOPPERS" does not deal with traffic matters.

--------------

SO! Speeding at 120 kph in a 60 zone is not a reportable crime??

SO the police have to ACTUALLY see you speeding to make a case?

Must be a Queensland only thing

What ever happened to eye witness accounts ??
Not to mention the blatant disregard for public saftey, increase in public risk and cost in insurance and not to mention my 2 year old son in the car with me.

A long time ago, myself and my ex reported something like this, the police said are you willing to be a witness in court we said yes and police pursued and the guy lost his license.

YET for some reason in QLD! this doesnt work the same way??

What the F%%*%K is this Australia and Queensland or Australia ?????

Do this kind of shit while my son is in the car again and i will personally pull you out of your car and kick the living F*%*%ING SHIT out you!!!! Not just for endangering my me and my 2 year old but costing me more from my insurance.

F(*&#EN PISSED OFF!!!

Wizbey, I think it`s the issue of qualification of the speed. Must be a legal way to get this idiot off the road?

I don't see how it could work any other way.

Otherwise, what would stop one of your stroppy neighbours from calling Crimestoppers and saying "I saw Wizbeysmugfarter doing 100 kph through a school zone!"

I know I wouldn't wear a speeding fine that some anonymous citizen had phoned in, with no proof.

What is "speeding"??...doing over 40 in roadworks or school area is "speeding"...going over 60 in a 60 zone is "speeding"...over a ton in a 100 zone is "speeding"...well, if it`s safe to do so then speed!...simple!...don`t put others lives at risk n ur not committing a crime...i mean...if u hit a kid at 40, won`t it b the same at 50, 60, 80 or 100??...just drop the limit to 20 n their`ll b no worries

I think the main issue is DISTRACTION....get rid of car sterios ( channel surfing), smoking while drivng, dvd players in cars, checking the chick jogger out, laptop on your knees while driving ( which I discovered the other day), MEDIA...yes, those signs on the road, meant to distract u, and the big one...CONSTANTLY LOOKING AT YOUR SPEEDO in case ur breaking the law ;-)

I don't find a problem with this. It doesn't take long to get a feel for speed - to have a good idea if you're speeding or not without constantly checking the speedo.

It's also not as if checking your speedo requires more than a split-second flick of the eyes. Checking over-the-shoulder blind spots requires more attention off the road ahead than the checking the speedo does.

Everyone should just drive like there's a cop car behind them. People tend to become very careful drivers when there's a blue 'n' white in the rear view mirror.

Re:Speeding is NOT a crime Reply to this message
The treaffic regulations according to sheeple. In the eastern states at least, speed limit signs define the absolute minimum speed at which a driver must travel. Speeding isn't a crime unless a driver is stupid enough or unfortunate enough to get caught. Anyone travelling at less than ten kilometers under a posted speed limit is guilty of dangerous driving because vehicle speedometers are all optimistic, and blue uniformed fundraisers are legally obliged to allow a minimum of 10k leeway. The 'might of way' rule takes precedence over every section of the traffic act, ie the bigger a vehicle is, the greater the right it has to be on the road.

I make no apologies for being in total support of the strict enforcement of traffic rules.

See, driving a car likely is the most important task we conduct on a daily basis, and people just don't acknowledge that. They take it for granted.

How many other things in our daily lives have the potential to cause death or catastrophic injury from a momentary lapse of concentration?

Every time you drive, your life is partially in the hands of every other driver you encounter. It absolutely must be tightly regulated.

And if you think speeding isn't an issue - then consider that the difference between crashing at 60 kph and crashing at 80 kph could be the difference between living and dying.

Well in fact even if you don't put anyone at risk, you are still committing a 'crime'...you may not be doing anything wrong, but a crime is committed whenever you break a law or rule....

Re:Speeding is NOT a crime Reply to this message
Speeding is a controversial issue especially when studies show that speed is the ELEVENTH highest reason for accidents. top one is lack of concentration. you dont suddenly become a risky driver by doing 70 in a 60 zone that should be marked at 80 anyhow. we no longer teach people to drive according to conditions but rather to the number in the red circle.

Don't forget that in Queensland, 'one k over is a killer' consequently 41k in a 40k zone is deadly :)
