Re:Railway Journeys Of The Soul Reply to this message
Thank-you Reids and Littlelady :) Sometimes i do find myself disenchanted with my purpose here but then someone stops by and makes it all worthwhile. Here is the continuation of the new chapter - not much but enough to give you a taste...

Bo

He lived in what i can best describe as an old ranger's cabin/office nestled in the armpit of dry creaking timber country; a good five minutes drive from the main road along a dirt track that coiled like a grass snake between towering ghost gums. Though the place was remote i was spellbound by it's rugged beauty and the trees like cloud scrapers and fell deeply and incurably in love. My parents; they were nothing short of mortified but could say and do nothing to persuade a change of heart...As i write this i have Neil Young's "Harvest" crackling vinyl in my head. Bo had a huge collection of records which he stored in two old trunks under the bed and a Maton Acoustic or his "Other Woman" as i jokingly called it. The way he held her, the way he caressingly glided his fingertips stroking, strumming...teasing her chords; he could have well been making love....

Reids& Nina,
"Perhaps the true revolutionary is one who has nothing in 'normal society' to hold them there, so they venture out into the unknown and meet so many others who are 'out there alone' for a wide variety of reasons."

As i have mentioned before Jacob Bronofski,
"Ascent of man" ascribes all human forward thinking to those on the margin.
He does not talk of a social milestone made by an ordinary person.

Most ordinary people struggle with the concept of envy, adultery, theft and greed.
Possibility of higher thought is somewhat limeted then?

Nobody bestowed a "purpose" on you.

That is right - nobody "Bestowed" a purpose upon me. I have consciously chosen to dedicate myself to birthing memories and turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Having said that, i sometimes do succumb to a lull of disenchantment - that i cannot deny. For myself, i feel i have no other purpose here in Yahoo. I don't have the gift of the gab nor belong to any hive. I hardly expect you of all people to understand - you are too engulfed in your own misery and come here to vent your bitterness (see my Quote Thread for reference).

Re:Railway Journeys Of The Soul Reply to this message
I would never sleep on a train again. I used to think it was one of the safest places but not anymore. I have learnt that most people are too scared to help and rather move to another carriage or just pretend to be blind/deaf. But you live and learn....When i used to walk big distances (70k's) it got gruelling - i arrived at my parent's one morning much too early at 5am and rather than wake them chose to sleep in their front yard with my backpack as a pillow. My mother was truly beside herself and looking back i can hardly blame her. That's how i ended up with pneumonia one time after 6 hours in the rain. People look at me now and they can't imagine me like that. Truth is, neither can i anymore.....that was another lifetime ago when i had to take pills to function normally.
