| its pretty sad how some charities behave. my friend bought a $50 ticket for a charity raffel, he has since had 3 more calls from different people from the same charity ringing him to see if he will buy another ticket, all within a few weeks! |

Bring this post up from CL Co1868....save me typing eh:)
"My objection is the huge charitable organisations that are now part and parcel of life....they ARE based on business lines and selling themselves and their message, have worked in some myself.
Western societies could clothe the entire globe with the waste from our OP SHOPS and is based on consumering what we don't really need....
Just as enforced voluntary work has altered the very meaning of the word, so too has our consumerist society altered the meaning of charity..
Very hard to NOT join in with what is happening in the schools when one's children are attending so am speaking on the broader implications of charities being turned into business ventures:(
It is no longer charity to me unless one gives from one person to another....but that is my view and yours is yours:)" |
