PC cliches.... Reply to this message
Why is it that if a PC clown doesn't agree with the views of another, they immediately brand them 'narrow minded'?

Does it take a broad mind to sit on the fence, never expressing an honest opinion, for fear that you may upset someone, somewhere?

Does it take a broad mind to instantly dismiss any differing views as 'bigotry' without even hearing the justifcation for such views?

Who really are the bigots?

I'd define a bigot is generally someone whose behaviour is characterised by hatred or intolerance toward a group of people based upon a perceived set of broadly-generalised characteristics.

No, because if you called someone a bigot because they demonstrate the defined behaviour, then you are being specific.

One who calls another a bigot WITHOUT taking the time to try and understand the others view is a bigot themselves.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a 'right' type of bigotry perpetuated by the powers that be.

I am a bigot
when I assume that the bad driver in front of me must be asian.

That is a bigoted statement because it is a generalisation.

No... that's just being narrow minded. Bigotry is more about making generalisations.

Of course that's a semantic argument.

Personally, I reckon bigotry is symptomatic of lazy thinking more than anything else.

Re:PC cliches.... Reply to this message
While were griping about cliches... I've got a gripe about Un-PC cliches...

I've noticed a trend emerging where a person - in an endeavour to show how much they hate political correctness - will launch into an obnoxious and expletive-filled tirade about some person or group.

I'm sorry, but that's not thumbing a nose at Political Correctness - it's just plain douchebaggery.

It seems that the whole "to PC or not PC" brouhaha has ended up blurring the lines between what is Political Correctness and what is common decency.

PC has gone too far...agreed and the fight against pc is going too far too. people need to accept and not accept, love and hate, be obnoxious and be courteous, challenging and accepting.
