I'm shopping around for car insurance quotes at the moment and the quote i got through bingle.com is a good $250 cheaper than most of the others. The only differences i can see are that you do it all online and you don't get to choose your repairer if you do make a claim. Has anyone else used this company and if so how have you found dealing with them? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I'd be cautious. Insurance is a competitive market, they'll mostly be about the same price. Not choosing your repairer sounds dodgy, 3 quotes is usually the fair thing. Problem is, they might be great, or they might be hopeless, you really wont know until you make a claim. The bigger operators have a reputation to uphold, and generally pay up quickly with no fuss.

Bingle is really cheap when you buy it. and it is cheap if you are sure you are not going to make any claim. OR, you will find out, how much pain BINGLE will cause you, first of all, you may have trouble log into your policy, that means you can not make a claim at all.(i am having this trouble, cause the passwords Bingle give to me doesnot work, they are not going to fix it, just keep sending me the same password which really piss me off, the accident happened days already, i am still struggle with log into my policy). Second, endless waiting for repair your car(my friend`s experience), if days, you are lucky, months....... think about this, when you need towing immediately after an accident... And BINGLE is not avaible after work hours, weekends. public holiday

I've never tried Bingle but a few things to always check when choosing car insurance are:
1. excesses - what will you be charged in the event of an accident
2. is the car insured for market value or agreed value? (this is something most people overlook)
3. are there any special conditions in the fine print? Will they refuse my claim under certain conditions?
4. are all drivers insured or are there exclusions as to age of drivers, etc?
5. what exactly am I paying for? e.g. Will they cover for theft? What about contents in the boot if my car is stolen? if so, to what value? Do they provide a hire car? Towing? Do I have to choose the cheapest repairer? (Usually this means the shoddiest work or second-hand parts) |

On one of the 6:30pm current affairs shows tonight (I think ACA) a whistleblower from inside NRMA is going to discuss some of the dodgy things that some car insurance companies do....that they don't want the public to know about.
