The drought is getting worse and still us Aussies are consuming ourselves to death!! With greed getting out of control and no good rain in sight how are we to grow our food in future? Now a mate tells me there is a plan to take our population to 40 million!! Are we delusional or what?
In my home town housing estates are still going up everywhere. While the river which we rely one for tourism is getting lower and lower.
I fear somthing nasty is going to happen to this town and not many have seen it coming. |

Does anyone complain when things are going well?? Farmers still only get $150 TO $300 a tonne for oranges yet supermarkets sell them for up to $3 a KILO (last time I bought low quality oranges from safeway anyway!). |

| No not Australians but the government is yes. Oh yes the Aussies who vote these idiots in. There was a question on here last night which was something about should we stop immigration well of course we should this is a prime case of not being able to look after our own. No rain no water in the dam we have managed before, before all this population influx. |

aussie farmers are the biggest whingers in the country.. check out the aid the get from Centre'stink - subsidies on diesel, seeds, grain, electricity, rent , land, machinery- the bloody list goes on. When they are asked if it is possible for them to look into other ways of supporting themselves -they say that this is all they know - well durrrrrrr - pull ya finger out and learn something new!!!! |

| Wow, who grows the food served at your table. I have never received Centrelink handouts, Rent subsidy, or discounts of any type. I pay twice the rate on Electricity than in a city or town. Diesel costs 16 cents per litre less to produce than Unleaded yet costs 20 to 25 cents more. Do you know how much the Diesel subsidy is, doubt it very much if you do. Next time your eating think of the farmer who worked 16 hours a day to provide it. |

Well how come when i buy my fruit and vegies at the supermarket, it says, imported from here imported from there, the only vegies I see that are from oz are the organic food, which costs an arm and a leg to buy -so why bother, can only afford the cheap imports!!! |

And the supermarket who quadrupled the price before selling it to you
p.s. it's actually more than quadrupled, I just don't know the term |

jukay,
The cost of your vegetables in the supermarkets is not the farmers fault. The other thing that amazes me is that you blame the farmer for the imported products in the shops well obviously you buy your fruit & veg from the supermarkets. You should try buying from your green grocer. If you want Australian products on your shop shelves start demanding them by NOT BUYING the overseas produce. If you don't like that get yourself a vegetable garden. |
