That is what we do grannie. I find it better because we can buy what we want and dont end up with things that we wont use anyway. My friend got a BBQ through chrisco and ended up paying twice what we did for the same BBQ we bought in a shop.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
I, too, have had problems with Chrisco this year. Waited all day for delivery, finally arrived at 6.30pm minus one hamper. I asked where it was, was told others had missing hampers too (NO excuse!).Told to take up matter with Chrisco. I took delivery of other two hampers but refused to sign for any as delivery was incomplete. Next day, I received call from Chrisco, advising of another delivery date. (This Sat 15/12) No apology for non-delivery and a pathetic excuse that they had problems in the warehouse. I was fobbed off with "It was ONLY a Small Dogs Pack". Told caller it was the principle of the matter - shouldn't matter what was in the hamper. And if they knew ahead of scheduled delivery date there was a supply problem, why couldn't they do the decent thing & advise the customer? After all, they insist on having all contact phone numbers & email address.

Hi to all those people having Chrisco Troubles. I to was one from weeks ago. I took a very direct approch A currnet affair and radio Station @GB who helpeed me get a fabulous result. I can see however many of you are still having a lot of issues. I eventually got to talk on and off air with the CEO Lee Hill and he made sure I got a result. I did however, personally land on their doorstep in Sydney with all the paperwork, attempted and failed emails and faxes as they would not answer my calls. Put everything in writing and as I did send it to them as a registered letter.

I hope all goes well and I will keep a watch out for positive results.

Best way to go about it, is in future ,open a christmas club at a building society. Once it's opened have a direct deposit of a set amount go into it each week. You can't access christmas clubs until November so it stops you from breaking into the funds for other things and gives you a nice little amount ready to be spent at christmas.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
havew been gettinbg Chrisco for the last 4yrs but after seeinbg the new catalog was shoicked at how much the hampers have gone up.....the extra that everything costs I always knew that it cost more but next years (08) seems to be 2 -3 times more than you would pay if you wwent shopping so have opened a new account & am having work put the money in & just go & get what I want at chrissy anyway.
Then I got my order THANK GOODNESS I had already decided to not use them again as I got a frozen icecream hamper about a week after getting it one of the kids & hubby decided to raid the icecreams.....well they had melted & been refrozen, I had put them in the freezer as soon as they were delivered so it wasn't me.
The reason people are also having trouble with Castle & Chrisco I think that if you do a bit of digging, they actually the same company...Chrisco brought out Castle a couple of years ago.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
Having been in management in retail for many years I will let you in on a secret. The company has to pay rent, superannuation, insurance, wages, electricity, water, holiday pay, sick pay, worker's compensation, advertsing, delivery, telephone, etc etc. How can they do this and still charge you less than what a major supermarket charges, especially when supermarket has income from alcohol, cigarettes and petrol? The answer is they can't. This type of company preys upon those who are unable to shop for whatever reason...health,time,etc etc. Do not support them. I have never worked for a supermarket but I have trained in the logistics of marketing etc.

i also know they are a bit more expensive than major supermarkets.
as for anyone saying that you you dont eat anything in the hampers....thats true BUT i make hampers for family and friends that can not afford much at christmas....it is always nice helping them and they love it.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
Interesting story acaptive... Unfortunately I think I've learnt my lesson the hard way. I've now cancelled the missing part of my order which they've now refunded me.They sent me a letter in mail confirming I'd been refunded and they " look forward to my order with them next time" Yeah right, there won't be a next time!!" They've also refunded me the money which I had paid towards next year's hamper as I've cancelled that one too. I'm still waiting for refund for heat damaged chocs, only rung them 3 times and 3 emails about that.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
My friend had been receiving Chrisco hampers for 4 years and was always happy with them and the service, but this year she was very disappointed. The contents of the hamper were smaller in volume on many things, the prices were a fair bit more than before, and the chocolates and cake she received had to be reimbursed because of faults in the production. She's not going to do it again either. She, like some others, will be just putting the money away and then buying gift vouchers for herself and then using them at Christmas.

Another thing people could do, is buy a few extra items each week and put them away and not use them until the end of the year. Spend what you would usually spend each week on the Chrisco on buying little extras and you will have exactly what you want by Christmas.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
i have been with chrisco for almost 9 years and each year its getting worse..i cant believe the trouble me my family and friends (who we reccommended) have had im still waiting for the refund when i cancelled next years order it was only 100 dollars paid but after spending hours on the phone trying to get recompence to no avail..now my daughter who was supposed to get her order on the 5 november finally got it yesterday..BUT they sent only 4 boxes instead of 9..another friend who waited for her order was told on friday they cannot deliver frozen orders and she would eventually get a refund...do they know what hardship they are causing people..no wonder so many are cancelling...i wonder why the big supermarkets dont start their own xmas clubs like they did years ago then you could pay extra each time you shopped and there fore get your xmas food cheaper than chrisco!!!

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
I am another unhappy customer, My order is however with castle...I have always enjoyed my packages but totally agree with eberything that has been said here.
Its just my stopry all over again, missing boxes shocking customer service lies and now like lots of others I am now waitng for a refund.
They rang me on Friday to tell me that they can not supply my frozen goods...how the heck can this be when they have had my order for over 12 months!!
The apparently have now just started to ring people and admit they cant supply apparently the dog food. frozens packs and alcohol are all the things they cant supply.

I am very concerned that i will end up with no hampers and no money for christmas...
NOT GOOD ENOUGH CASTLE AND CHRISCO

This frozen order thing gets me...after paying excessive prices for the stuff all year, what if the power goes off? I have a friend who was silly enough to RENT a freezer from radio rentals to put her Chrisco in. Not only is she ripped off on the food..she will paying for the freezer 3 times over before giving it back.

Christmas time is notorious for natural disasters like storms and flooding....

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
My experience with chrisco was a joke.Someone at Chrisco cancelled part of my order and gave me a breakfast hamper in its place. They also transfered money to next years order without my permission.I found all this out when delivery driver told me he had instructions to take my order back to depot. After 2 weeks of "please call in 2 days"or "we will call you"(which they never did),I finally found out that my order had mysteriously disappeared from the depot. They presumed it to be stolen. For 2 weeks I was lied too spoken to like I was a complete moron and just given the run around. It wasnt till I told them they had obtained money by deception and saying I would go to the media was I finally told the truth and offered my money back.It then took them another week and more phone calls before I got my refund.Till this day I am yet to recieve an apology.I have now cancelled next years order and will never deal with them again. To me they are the grinch that stole christmas

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
Maybe we should print out all these complaints and forward them to Minister for Consumer Affairs, Does anyone know who that is?? Companies like Chrisco & Castle need to be pulled in to line. If a normal retail store were to treat it's customers that way they'd be in trouble from Consumer affairs! What we need is PEOPLE POWER!!!

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
I to ordered a hamper through chrisco, mot of the items arrived except for the main items like the leg of ham, lamb, pork etc. I rang them and told them the items were missing and they gave me a new deliery date of the 17th Dec. Well the items did not arrive and I tried to telephone 10 times yesterday and about 20 this morningwith no luck. I then logged onto the fair trading web site and lodged my complaint,a friendly lady from fair trading spoke to Chrisco on my behalf and as of 3pm this afternoon I have ben told a refund will be deposited into my bank account if it does not arrive by the end of the week I will again get fair trading involved. My next step is to cancel next years order when I can finally get through on the phone to them, as I don't believe they can deliver on their promise of a merry christmas..
