just watched a currant affair on channel 9..it seems a lot of people are having hardship through chrisco...it showed the owners of chriscos 30 miilion dollar house in new zealand....they had excuses when asked about people waiting hours to get through on the phone..excuses for late deliveries...he also said they would eventually get back to the customers 1 on 1 to discuss this mess..gee i cant wait for them to contact me !!!!

I am not really sure why you would go through them anyway... you dont make a saving but pay more for your items at the end of the day.

We just put money aside in a differnt account for Xmas and it's probably cheaper to go and get the stuff yourself.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
I have had nothing but problems with Chrisco Hampers and I know I am not alone.

My hampers were supposed to arrive mid November. When they did not arrive I rang the company up. After spending hours on the phone we demanded that someone ring us for an alternative delivery date after a week of no response from them.

After being told that our hampers would most likely come in the morning I waited all day to about 3:30pm when my hampers finally arrived.

After seeing that that the hampers which includes 4 frozen hampers were delivered in a NORMAL COURIER VAN and not a refrigerated truck I opened one frozen hamper to see that the ice-cream was clearly melted and leaking into the box and refused to accept delivery. It was evident that the frozen hampers have been left out for hours on end. After waiting the rest weekend I got on to the phone early on the next business day spent over an hour and a half trying to get through to operators and was told they would ring back in a couple of days. Rang them up after that time and demanded my money back which I eventually got for the frozen hampers but felt extremely ripped of with the contents on the dry hampers which were way to small on previous years.

Other complaints I have include a friend of my Aunt who ordered Chrisco, got her delivery advice letter, hampers failed to arrive rang up CHRISCO and was told that they had absolutely no record of her.

Never will I go with Chrisco or Castle or other hamper clubs again.

I quit using Castle a few years ago cos I had problems with some of the products and wasn't happy with them. The cake had the same prob as Chrisco has with the cakes this year. Same brand too. Now Chrisco have got the flick as well, over this latest fiasco. Never again!!

does anyone know how quickly your refunds are going to be? Say on TT that those who didn't get a hamper because of a "Computer glitch" (BS BS) will be having a refund...bit late isn't it as there is only 5 days to christmas and most of the chrissy stuff are gone...

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
Solution for these hampers etc. Credit Unions have an account called a Christmas Club account which allows you to deposit funds into it all year but you cannot make a withdrawal till about mid November and then it is available till the end of january. This means you can save all year for presents or food etc and not be tempted to take it out. Great for the summer holiday saving fund to. They usually pay anywhere between 1-5% on it as well

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
often it not the case of saving money for the food but the time it takes to get food, looking at Chrisco it seems it is aimed for invalid, working parents and elderly who can't seem to find enough time to go out there and get what they want before the crowds get to much or having children screaming and getting critisised over there parenting skills.

Looking around the shops when you do your weekly shopping the poor people in wheelchairs often have to come in over several days as they can't push a trolly they have a basket on thier laps or have someone come in with them taking away the independence they want. Chrisco give them some hope that they will have an excellent christmas with out the fuss of battling crowds who do not seem to see them or are attracted to them like magnets and run into them with out appologising.

that is why 70% of people go for Chrisco, hamper king etc

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
i agree lostie

i am so sick of some of the posters comments about chrisco...when they dont get them.I have seen a few posters abuse and name call chrisco members.Noone has a right to tell anyone why you should and should not get the hampers, and we all get them for different reasons.

yes i do feel sorry for the posters who have had problems.... but i am not sorry to the posters who say they have had problems in the past yet keep getting the hampers and they still whinge (they are trouble makers).

im sick of hearing how people are telling others to put money in christmas club accounts etc.... it is nobodies business what we do with our money nor is it any bodies business how much we spend on the hampers.

i feel sorry for the one that wont get the hampers,, i bet they wont get their money back in time either..
so where does it leave them, some wont have the extra money to go out and get food now , thet relied on the likes of chrisco (what ajoke they are) ,,

please people go to the credit unions or bank save your money in a account that you can touch , make your money work for its self ,
and as for hamper king OR whatever its called . they should be put out of busines ..

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
exactly... I think its a case of if it hasn't happened to you you don't know the full impact of it... its all well and good to say oh you should do it this way but that usually comes with hindsite or not knowing the full background story.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
I don't think it will be long before Chrisco and Castle go bankrupt.
If a service can't meet it's orders(especially leading up to Christmas) they have a duty of care to inform their customers so they can have an alternative option. If as you say, a lot of disabled ppl use these services, they would be the hardest hit.

Why does it bug you knockville that ppl offer some advice? I was condsidering trying this company next year but now see that it consists of a lot of junk food and is very unreliable. I think this topic saved me money and time.

Thanks Guys.

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
My family and I have been using Chrisco since they started and have never encountered any problems with them so I was surprised to hear about the problems people are having with Chrisco . The problem Im facing is way too many people seem to be having problems not just the odd one or two here and there . Our hamper and drinks have been picked out for next year and the payment come out of the account via direct deposit .We usually have the hampers paid up by Sept and we just carry forward the payment towards the next hamper .But , I will be watching Chrisco very closley from now on .

Re:Chrisco Christmas Hampers Reply to this message
Calm down Knockville.

If you enjoy getting a hamper and have had no problems, good for you. But it's obvious from the replies, Chrisco really doesn't care. I did look at the Chrisco catalogue and the majority of food is junk food eg. biscuits , lollies , chocolates , coke. If you think it's a healthy hamper, that's your choice.
What floats my boat is being informed of companies who disregard customers trying to get refunds and answers.

I read back from the beginning of this topic and didn't see one person being abusive.
I don't know what your ideas are on abuse but just like the Chrisco hamper, our opinions differ.
