i was watching "the brig" just before, and when richard comes and sits down with locke he says, "no matter how long you've been on this island you never get sick of this view." which backs up the theroy of him not ageing.

| The fact that he was an original Hostile, Maybe they were exposed to something beyond the fence? Maybe what the black smoke thing did to Juliet and Kate when they were handcuffed together means they won't age |

in " Not In Portland " juliet gets a call while she is getting the vaccine for her sister. the caller is a woman and she is confirming her appointment with a DR ALPERT this is the only time he is refered to as a doctor?????? all the other time he is MR ALPERT or Richard.
anyone have any insight? or did i miss something along the way? |

just had another insight.....not spoiler just theory..
the day the plane crashes juliet is taken to the flame and see is show footage of her sister and nephew. the man who was in the footage was Richard Alpert. the newspaper had the date 22 sept the day of the crash.....so if richard was in miammi? how is he still on the Island? ok so maybe thats when he brought back locke's dad but still... locks dad was taken from tallahassi. ok so he gets around. but if they lost communication and the sub beakon how did he get back?.... richard is a big key in the mystery of lost. |

| hey taniabuff.... the reason richard is called dr in that episode is becuase they are t ryin to convince juliet to go to the island. no mystery behind it. also richard could of been in miami on the 22nd n come back later. wasnt till season 3 (dont no the date) when desmond turned the key and the sky turned purple then so up until then, they had heaps of time to travel to and from the island but also even after they lost communication and the sub beacon, tom still made it off island to visit muichael and tyell him to go back to island. so u never know, richard only seems special because he seems ageless.... but this affect could be altered by nivea skin cream or even plastic surgery. i personally think he is ageless but there are other options. |

In the 50s we see them in the US army camps wearing their army clothes. When he lived with Ben and the others, he stayed in Dharma village. Before that he found Ben in the jungle looking like he was living outdoors. Where is their village? Don't they have houses? If the Temple is their shelter why don't they stay there? |

they lived in the army camp because thats where they took over. im guessing they had to stay close to the bomb so the camp that was alreeady set up was a good place to live.
i think the others naturally live in the jungle. it makes it easy for them to travel, plus its THEIR jungle.
i think its locke that questions ben on why he moved the others to the barracks. he doesnt answer but its obvious it was his decision.
and the temple, i think its a sacred place, only used for protection these days but when it was built it was probably for a reason. |

| Maybe he's immortal in the sense that he doesn't age and therefore can't die of old age/natural causes but he can be mortally wounded and killed, so to speak. |
