Hey Srsen...glad to see you are still hot on the trail of the worlds injustices....you are a wasted journalistic talent in your current job and I for one commend your passion. We all do, I am sure.

Hi Miss LDE - glad you could pop in. Just leave your laundry bag in the corner, I'll make sure the boys don't use too much starch this time...

Re:The Island Retirement Village
Hey Srsen, Unfortunate crossed wires, my friend. So glad that deep down you realised that it was out of character for us to make light of such a terrible treatment of people. I opened the site you gave us but because it was a long Video I deferred watching it to later. To be honest I couldn't finish viewing it because the effects of the chemicals were too upsetting for me to continue. Thanks for highlighting the atrocities which never appear to make the news in the same way as the sanitised "glory" of war does.

Re:The Island Retirement Village
yeah micro, it was a boo-boo on my behalf but am very glad to be wrong on that one!
And that’s the sad thing. That the REAL news never makes it to the news. If the masses knew of stuff like that the world would be a very different place for sure! And yeah it is pretty full-on ay. I wasn’t kidding when I said you needed a strong stomach. I was really shocked a day or two after watching it. Not because of what I saw, but more because of the utter contempt shown towards innocent people!
and thanks LDE.. i should show my boss that line about being wasted in this job... it is oh so true... sadly!!!! although if i was paid a little more... suddenly i wouldnt feel so wasted... but on this wage - complete and total waste ;)

Re:The Island Retirement Village
srsen just watched your link: We are a dissapointing species! In modern history we've had the Great War then WW11 with the holocaust, we've put up with czars and dictators killing their own en masse, did we ever learn anything from Vietnam? More recently there's genocide in the name of religion and tribal genocide where they kill each other at a rate that is astonishing, now we put up with wars that are fought for reasons that bewilder.
And when we see the innocents that are killed and maimed with white phosphorus and MK-77 that is supposed to be banned by the UN it is truly sickening, as the nararator sums it up in his last sentence it is ironic that the war was intended to root out weapons of mass destruction and chemicals now they have turned the tables and are using these same horror weapons on the civilian population.
I wonder if those 2 marines can ever lead a normal life again after spilling their guts, probably cant even get a job at Burger King. Thanks for the enlightenment and on it goes on everyday in many unspeakable ways.

Re:The Island Retirement Village
*a wailing noise, or something like a wailing noise, is heard off in the distance by the residents. they look at each, wondering what it could be. micro stands, hands on hips, head co.cked to one side, trying to decipher the noise. it's getting steadily louder. it's quite high-pitched and unwavering. what on earth is it......*

Re:The Island Retirement Village
*...srsen has heard the noise in his room. he comes out and stands next to micro. steve wakes up from his snooze in an armchair and lifts his head. a thread of drool connects his chin to his chest. t mutes the volume on the tv - amazing that she has even heard the noise, let alone wonder so much about it as to mute her telly.....*

Re:The Island Retirement Village
*....ka & pb are in the kitchen, giggling and snickering as they make "brownies". lde has not been seen for days, but suddenly her head appears out of the broom closet, her hair tussled, her cheeks flushed with a rosy glow, eyes sparkling. "what on earth is that noise!!??" she screeches. hotty appears at the top of the basement steps, holding a petri dish in one hand and pipette in the other, a questioning frown across his brow......the noise is getting much, much louder. it stops for a minute and all the residents hold their breath.....*

Re:The Island Retirement Village
*the clutch at each other as SUDDENLY! from around the corner, rach appears - dressed in nothing but her purple ugh boots and fingertip-length ivory veil. she is clutching a pink candle, shaped like a wedding cake, in one hand, and a piece of chocolate cake in the other. the residents cover their ears as she streaks past, mouth open (chocolate smeared all around it), emitting an almost inaudible screech.....*

Re:The Island Retirement Village
*there is silence for 30 seconds, then srsen shakes his head and mutters "darn nurse betty. she KNOWS rach needs to be sedated at times like these..." and goes back to his room. lde mutters something that sounds like "waste of time......doing......to mancake...." and disappears back into the broom cupboard. hotty picks up his pipette, which he dropped as rach came into view, and toddles off back to his basement lab. micro & steve sit down and continue their on-going game of scrabble, and t growls in disgust as she realises she's missed the start of "wheel of fortune". ka & pb have forgotten what they were doing, so pb heads back to the kitchen, followed by a meowing felix, and ka sits down in her comfy chair and picks up her crocheting. she's trying to make enough irv pullovers in time for next winter*

Re:The Island Retirement Village
funnily enough was holding a pipette this morning and it was shaking in my hands, i thought it was just the caffeine jitters but now i know better. of course it was a semi-naked rach after inhaling too much industrial cleaner trying to chase the cake-pixies out of the bottom of the garden, why didn't i think of that in the first place?!?

Rach that is the link... i must say, even after reading i still have no idea why you where making a noise such as that... was it wind?? eat too many baked beans perhaps?? im confused - which isnt that unbelievable anyway....

Ka, you are right - a dissapointing species indeed. i have read this passage that says that if you put the Earth into the conext of a 45 yr old man, then in his life, humans as we know them, have only been around for a few minutes and in that time we have made so many species extinct and done all the damage we have to the planet and ourselves... in the context of the planet - we are a fairly big problem.
its such a depressing topic. so in an attempt not to rattle on ... believe me i could go on for days.. i will provide this link http://www.valenzettifoundation.org/ some of you may have already seen it but if not check it out... read the blog and find the hidden links.. some good stuff in there - as long as its not fake of course.
