Why does everyone think Jacob is good, and DSG evil?
In war, there is no such thing is good and bad - just two opposing sides, each fighting to defend their own interests.
Yes, DSG has killed people, but terrible things have been done in the name of "good" all over the world. And Jacob has brought people to the island against their will (just because he can).
Are we to assume that just because Jacob wears white, he is "good"? |

| At the risk of sounding completely stupid. Who is DSG? Is he the guy at the start of the episode beofre the finale who says he wants to kill Jacob? |

| Yes - DSG is the guy who wants to kill Jacob. Generally referred to as DSG (dark shirt guy). |

| Oh I got now. Yeah I was thinking that Jacob isn't the good guy when Ben asks 'what about me' and Jacob just responds 'what about you' as though Ben wasn't really important at all even though Ben did lots of things for Jacob without question even though he didn't ever meet him. |

"In war, there is no such thing is good and bad - just two opposing sides, each fighting to defend their own interests."
So...Hitler wasn't bad? He was just fighting to defend his own interests?
"Yes, DSG has killed people, but terrible things have been done in the name of "good" all over the world. And Jacob has brought people to the island against their will (just because he can)."
Lol, you totally missed the part where he said he was all about free will AND the part where he gave them all a choice to either follow what he says or ignore it (for the record: Kate ignored, Sawyer took, Sayid took, Hurley took, Jack ignored, Sun and Jin ignored, and technically Ben ignored).
"Are we to assume that just because Jacob wears white, he is "good"?"
Yes, that's the theme that's been put across since the first season. Where's your evidence for Jacob being as bad as DSG? |

My point was simply that those who are labelled as "bad" do not generally believe themselves to be bad.
It is a judgement made by others.
Maybe DSG just wants it all to end... |

Well...yeah. Hitler thought he was right, and hence he thought he was the good guy. You and I may think he was "bad", but that's just our opinion.
Same principle applies here. No matter who ends up being the antagonist in the Lost saga, the individual will always fight for their beliefs and consider themselves right. |

That is the most illogical comment I've seen on these boards. However, if I change one word (or two, including the spelling error)...
In Lost, there is no such thing as good and bad.
Keamy aside, this is true. There are no other characters that can be definitively described as good or evil.
Every character has serious moral failings, but none is beyond redemption.
And no, 'white is good and black is bad' has never been a theme of the show. Black and white are represented as opposing forces with neither possessing any moral value. |

You, me, and six million Jews.
Anyway, we're clearly supposed to see Jacob as the good guy in all of this, and I highly doubt they'd make us think one way about Jacob only to switch it around in the last season. |

| For five seasons they've done nothing but switch around each character's good guy/bad guy status. That's one of the reasons Lost is such a great show, the multi-dimensional characters. I'm not sure that either Jacob or his enemy are going to be the 'good guy' at the end, just two people on opposite sides. |

He's been a tosser since the beginning.
"I think the whole thing might not be good vs evil, but science vs fate? I dont know..."
I think it might be free will vs destiny/fate. |
