Do u think the losties no they've moved? Reply to this message
NO SPOILERS!!!

just a thought to anyone...do u think the losties on the island know that they've moved??
Like do u think they would have felt it or (to them) did it feel like nothing happened??
cos they could be like "what the beep is going on"

Yeah I understand what you mean. Even if it moved, as they are part of the island, they move with it so it may not actually be felt. However, I suspect that they would notice North, South etc. were now different. And the distances, horizons and surroundings that are out of the area that moves (if those surroundings can be seen) would be different now. Meaning they could deduce that the island has moved. But I also suspect Locke would tell them he moved the island. Anyway, I do believe if they didn't feel it, they'd know it.

I suspect the Losties won't have any immediate reason to think they've moved (unless they move to a colder place on the world). I don't think its necessary for them to know to continue forward. Also given the 'secret keeper' nature of Lockes/Bens job I suspect he won't bother saying anything beyond 'we're safe now' for a while.

To date the Losties have been remarkably dense to be honest. I mean think of everything that's happened to date and they're all still a) Keeping secrets and b) trying to rationalise everything as 'normal'. Having them suddenly realise the island just 'teleported' somewhere would seem to be a very big expansion of how they believe the world works.

Regards

Peter Gillespie

They already have moved before, when Locke let the timer in the swan hatch run down. Think about it, same sound, same light, Widmore found the island because it had moved to somewhere it can be detected. That also explains why the oceanic six ended up in Indonesia instead of Bali where they actually crashed.

Hold on, I just had another thought. I think the swan station was also built on top of more "exotic matter". Remember Desmond waking up in the past when the swan collapsed. Now think back a little closer, Ben waking up in Siberia, not sure what year it is. I am sure that the island moved when the swan went boom.

What's the connection, though? What connects the Swan to the Orchard? As in, why would Dharma have a station that's designed to prevent something that moves the island and then have another station that is on top of a secret room that has something that can move it anyway, even if they didn't know of the secret room? They seem like two totally different things with nothing connecting them. One is researching electromagnetism, the other transportation or time travel.
Personally, I think the theory of electromagnetism is what explains the Hatch implosion. I don't think it makes the island move, but rather, when Desmond turned the failsafe key and the Swan imploded, the electromagnetic field surrounding the entire island (and possibly a great deal of the ocean around it -- you know, at the point where the freighter can't cross) is temporarily broken, allowing signals to enter the sphere where the electromagnetic field previously was, thus allowing those two guys in the snow to see the island's location.
As for the Orchard. I think it is unrelated to the Swan and the electromagnetic field. It seems to be a station that has a secret room allowing people to turn a mechanism somehow making the island move. We don't know the mechanics of it but that's just how we can look at that donkey-wheel thing until they explain it.
That's my input anyway.

I think that when the island moved, it did not move to another place on the earth, but actually moved through time.

that's my theory

it could also mean that the SUPA CUTE bunny *cough* did not move went forward in time - sorta like the mind of that rat that the physicist sent through time (and which died :( )

Nonononono, Swan was electromagnetism. Exotic matter is completely different. I can't go into physics its confusing.
