This re-occuring joke reoccurs in Lost and is signifcant for some unknown reason. One of the responses (I think it was Charie) was "Smells like carrots."
The question was asked alongside of "Are you Him?" when Desmond found the hatch. Now that we know that moving the island involved an 'ice room' we can assume that it has some reference to the concept.
I could go on but I might come back later and post some other theories and ideas I've got. Please post any reasoned opinions and avoid insulting each other. Feel free to post any extra information which you've found on Lostpedia.

we first heard the joke when desmond asked Locke "what did one snowman say to the other?" then if memory serves well in the same epsiode during a flash back kelvin asks desmond the question we he first arrives on the island. kelvin later tells desmond that the rest of the joke is smells like carrots. then later still desmon dtells lokce the restof the joke. it was used to see if a person was the dharam replacement.
and it probably was a small refernce to the frozen donkey wheel or maybe soemthing to do with the polar beasr. |

I pretty sure thats how you spell opinion..
I agree. I thought think it was just meant to be like a weird password thing. If you knew the answer then you are the replacment. I don't think it has any significate meaning. Besides relating to all the weird things on LOST. |
