I truly believe he is still alive. He was outside, on the edge of the freighter when it blew. If they were going to kill him off, I think the writers would have just left him inside with Michael.
Faraday may not have had a chance to pick him up, as it looks like Faraday and the other boaties were moved along with the rest of the Island.
I'm thinking that we won't see Jin for a very long time. He may have floated around on some piece of debris for some time before being picked up by yet another party looking for the Island. They may be 'detaining' him indefinitely, with the threat that they will harm Sun and the baby if he talks or tries to contact anyone.
Jin could be somebody's ace in the hole at a later date. |

| Besides, Sun is doing so much work in the future with Paik Industries and seemingly teaming up with Widmore to achieve some goal. Who says the goal is revenge? Perhaps her goal is to actually find her husband? |

| I think the reason they didnt leave him inside with michael, is so that jack could be blamed, because he wouldnt let the helicopter go back. If Sun blames jack for the death of Jin, she wont want to go back to the island with him, creating a better storyline for season 5 |

Jin inside or on deck, I would have thought Sun could still blame the same people (ie Jack). But I agree that Jin is still alive. Its vaguely possible a non supernatural explanation can be found (ie Jin jumps of the side of the ship, explosion, floats back to island) but I think that will be stretching incredulity a bit. IMO there will be a reason for Jin's survival but it will involve the island itself.
All that said though, if the island is about redemption etc. (aka Walt) then Jin seems to have grown a lot on the island. I don't see that he has any more unfinished business to do.
