PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
I think by now we've all seen the black thing Ben carrys with him when he time travels or teleports. At first I thought it was a weapon, but now I think it is a device to get him from place to place. If you watch the opening scene in the pilot episode when Jack wakes up in the jungle this same device is laying right next to him. I think this is a clue that Jack is returning to the island to fix what went wrong before. He doesn't remember at first but when he sees the liquor bottle in his pocket it sparks his memory and he goes into action. again

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
This has confused me now. Are you saying that the flashforward of Jack off the island actually comes before his time on the island? So we're yet to see any of Jack before the crash? This is puzzling now. Give me a timeline of events stating what comes first and what comes last: eg. Jack in the courtroom at Kate's trial, followed by deciding to be with Kate and Aaron, followed by Jack's depression, followed by Jack arriving on the island with that mysterious object in the "Pilot" episode? And if so, how would this make sense? Because if the island events come after his time spent with Kate and Aaron, how is Clare still pregnant and Kate a stranger when he arrives on the island? This is doing my head in now. Would appreciate more explanation, if possible please.

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
I don't know if I'm right or not but I'm thinking they are in a timeloop and everything keeps repeating. So they have been on the island before but maybe Jack is the only one that remembers. When Richard comes to see little Locke there is a drawing of the black smoke. I think Locke is remembering his future if you know what I mean. I'm just throwing it out there for comments, not saying I'm right.

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
God this is just mind blowing. I think I understand it a bit better with that webpage. Thanks for that, by the way.
But getting my head around this is making me dizzy. Firstly, it makes perfect sense that Jack was so far from the crash site when he wakes up. He was the only one not near the site yes? Excluding the Tailies who ended up in different places. It would make sense to suggest Jack was teleported to the island rather than part of the crash. At least this time. Because there are his flashbacks where he is on the plane and they would be of when he was genuinely on flight 815 for the very first time. So I guess the timeline would be something along the lines of: His flashbacks in Pilot Part 1&2, then his first time on the island and how he gets off that first time (which we haven't seen yet), then the courtroom at Kate's trial, then his living with Kate and Aaron, then his depression, then his waking up on the island with that mysterious object in Pilot Part 1. Then all of his other flashbacks throughout the show would have occurred earliest in the timeline. But then again who knows.
But this raises the point of why Jack pretends not to know the people throughout the entire show. Does he need to pretend to ensure he gets everyone off the island? Maybe the first time he was there, he stuffed it up. Boy this is changing every single thing.
It answers my earlier questions of why Kate is a stranger and Claire is still pregnant. He simply went back in time. Alright that's enough. If anyone can make sense of this, beat it into me because I'm rambling like a mental patient right now. I WANT ANSWERS. And I want the brains behind the show to come out and explain every single thing. Every single bit that is part of the show. But I doubt they will. So long as people discuss it, it will never be fully explained. Sigh. Shoot me or send me to the Island.

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
Wooooow this could so be true. When Richard asked Locke which items have already belonged to him, I thought he meant past life - but this theory now makes it past life ON THE ISLAND.... this is amazing...

and so typical of the LOST writers to give the big clue in the first 10 seconds of LOST

I seriously think it's like a time loop a ring, they go round and around until something changes to make it right.

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
Someone asked for some screen caps of Ben with his baton.

In the desert:
http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-1402-17 8.html

Giving it to Locke:
http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-1405-79 9.html

a wiki about the baton:
http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Telescopic_baton

make sure you remove any spaces (" ") if you copy and paste these links, otherwise they wont work.

The baton must have some significance, perhaps as a constant? I am not sure if a baton would be significant enough to be a constant! It is just a thought.

Thanks So much jds_train.... Lost is so confusing, baton appears in pilot, so it has to have some sort of importance if ben uses it all the time

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
Im guessing the batton is jacks weapon. Something along the lines of that you cant take guns through the portal/time machine. Jack would want to take something to defend himself with....

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
this theory is really good. It allows the key aspects of the island and flashforwards and flashbacks to come into play. Not wanting to confuse some of you even more but imagine that the "flashbacks" are actually the result of the first crash on the island and the "flashforwards" are actually "FLASHBACKS"! tRIPPY ISN'T IT. This would explain why Jack is crying "we have to go back" in the first 'flashforward".

Re:PILOT EPISODE CLUE Reply to this message
I have thought for a long time that either one or all of the losties are on a time loop. I really thought this about Desmond, with him seeing the future - I didn't actually think he was seeing the future, I think he was seeing things that happened before on the last "loop", for example, on one of their loops Charlie died trying to save Claire, another time he died getting the bird from the nest, do you get where I am coming from? One time the helicopter landed and Claire got on it, but not this time!?!? Do I make any sense.
