My theory is:
The Dharma Int (Working under the Hanso Foundation), turned monkeys or whatever into humans who became to smart and either drove these Dharma people out or killed them. That is why the Dharma places are abandoned, most of them. We saw a foot statue of 4 toes. Monkey's have four toes. And the leader was trying to work out Kate's 'nature'.
Maybe they captured these plane people to research humans and human reactions or whatever...so they themselves could act like proper humans and move themselves into society undetected. MAYBE! Not saying anything!
Any connection to 'THE PLANET OF THE APES' ?

Forgotten the names so apologies to those who are die hards...
I reakon they are actually already dead and are in pergatory. The characters that have died/gone have found closure for their unfinished business, the latest of which was the father & son rediscovered their love for each other (la la la). I am thinking that doctor boy will be the next to die/go as he has forgiven his ex (well sort of) and wishes her happiness (la la la).
My biggest triggers/clues were the monsta and other supernatural occurences in the first season as well as the convenient no-it-all book of the docs life that the watchman-chick had in the first episode of the second season. Sounds very "do you have something you would like to confess" of them.
I also think that there are tonnes of events that are supposed to throw you off track and get you thinking they are still alive, but I am convinced they are dead already and will only get off the island when they resolve their unfinished biz...
Then they will either sail off into the sunset (to heaven) or die a nasty death (and go to hell). The leader of the others is probably a demon or the devil himself which is my explaination why the other-others are so scared of such a tiny little toothpick of a man. He also said in the preview to next weeks episode that he "can take (the doc) home" |

One thing that stumps me with my theory is that the Others seem to know a hell of alot of stuff about people not on the island.

| the place could just be a place for testing animals, thats u they have the electromagnetic field to avoid detection from satalites. the reason there still on the island is possible due there histories are erased because that juliette chick said it doesnt matter who u were its who u are inside or something like MIB |

MAYBE THEY CALL IT 'LOST' BECAUSE BY THE END OF IT, WE WILL ALL HAVE LOST OUR MINDS OUT OF CONFUSION AND BEYOND REPAIR AND WILL NEED TO ATTEND MENTAL SEMINARS ON REGULAR OCCASSIONS.
