DHARMA stands for department of heuristics and research for material applications.
The numbers which keep appearing thoughout Lost are variables in an equation which this mathematician invented to determine how long it will take for the human race to kill itself. DHARMA is trying to practically change those variables.
The Swan station is for DHARMA to examine the course of human existance. Which the Pearl station is used to observe with. The Flame station is used to communicate with the outside world. The Staff station is used for medical purposes. And the Arrow station is a storage area. The Door station is another experiment to observe the psychological state of human existance by seeing if humans can guard something with their life without knowing what is in side of it. The Hydra station is a station which is used to carry out experiments of animals.
DHARMA is a collection of the greatest minds in the world trying to figure out a way to change one of these variables ("fix the human race"). After many failed years, the intiative took the biggest risk. The attempted to change the human gene. They used the natives on the island and convinced them that the whole world was infected by a virus. And that they were the only ones left who were not infected. They gave them this immunisation to prevent them catching the virus. But that immunisation is infact a syrum to change the DNA structure. That is why the "others" were capturing the children of the flight 815 so they could give them the immunisation (and their "good people"). This may be one of the factors why Ben has got cancer.
This is a lot of information to intake in a short time if you dont understand something, please say and next time it go on I will clarify it. |

was it part of the original Lost Experience, the "Official" one?
My gut instinct is that it IS a FAKE. & there are plent of those going round, even put out by the creators to put us off the true idea as to whats going on with DHARMA. |
