After we see daniel returning to the island at the end of episode 13, we get to see what happened to get daniel to the island on the first place (On the freighter). We then learn daniel has given up on his "whatever happened, happened" theory, and decides to change the past.
He travels to The Orchid station and waits for proffeser cheng to arrive and we then see the shot of Daniel in the orchid that we see early on in the season. After the orchid scene daniel approaches cheng and tells him he is from the future and that cheng has to order the immediate evacuation of the island because of the "incident" that is about to take place at the under-construction-swan-s tation.
He then decides to try and prevent the incident after cheng disregards his words. By detonating the Hydrogen Bomb the others burried back in the 50's on the swan site and preventing the "incident" which turns out to be a large scale version of what happened to the dude on the strecther in the under-construction-orchid , 30,000 times as powerful if im correct.
But before doing this he goes to visit the hostiles with jack and kate which in turn begins a gun battle between jack, kate, daniel and the dharma folk (Led by Radzinski). After they escape the barracks, sawyer and juliet are taken into custody after radzinski finds Phil (the member of the security team who finds out sawyer and kate aren't who they say they are after taking ben to the hostiles) locked in sawyers closet.
Faraday, jack and kate approach a Hostile camp. Faraday walks into the camp brandishing a pistol and talks to richard about where he can find ellouise (His mother). He gives richard 3 seconds to tell him before he shoots richard in the head. On 2 there is a gun shot and faraday collapses. Ellouise fired the shot into daniels back, faraday lies bleeding on the ground and he tells ellouise that he is her son. Faraday dies... (Or so it seems anyway, he stops moving/talking and then the episode ends).
Well there you go. |

Oh and its revealed that desmond does not die after being shot by ben, but he is in hospital. Ellouise approaches penny and tells her who she is then after explaining (Or rather lack of explaining) that faraday is responsible for desmond being shot... somehow???
She leaves the hospital to run into Widmore. They debate over their children and their relationships with their children to which ellouise says "I sent my son back to that island, knowing fair well what awaits him there" (Or something like that), and then widmore says the line I saw coming for a while...
"He's my son too"
Widmore is faradays father, making daniel pennys brother, or half brother if you want to get technical. |

I think when elouise approched Penny, it was say that in a manner of speaking desmond isn't finished with the island, Even Desmond stated he kept his promise of not going back, but penny will probably make desmond go back.
Do you think Richard will take Danial to the temple? I certainly hope so, Danial is the coolest character.
On a side note, was jacob always on the island? |

I certainly hope richard takes him to the temple. Hes become my favourite character and to have him die would totally suck.
And as for jacob, we dont hear or see anything in this episode that has anything to do with jacob. |

| If you have seen the Dharma booth video made prior to the beginning of this season, then this confuses the matter of whether he dead or not. If you can consider the video being linked to the main storyline, then Daniel still has to convince Pierre Chang of recording the video. And Sawyer is also present in the video (at least off camera) but he is now in custody of Radzinski with no possible escape (unless Locke and co. travel back to save the day). |

Loved this episode, as with all of this season. Maybe they take Daniel to the temple and save him, maybe he dies don't know. The video from Comic-con is definately Daniels voice in the background, and they mention the name "LeFleur" so who knows when this was made. Can't help wondering why Daniel went into the others camp with shooting, he was always a peaceful person.
Does anyone else think they are going to change things - if they do there is really on 2 outcomes for them all - they will either end up landing in Los Angeles back in 2004 an carry on merrily with their lives (except Kate of course) or all dead at the bottom of the Sunda Trench in the "real" plane crash!!!!! |

Considering how unconvinced Chang was about Daniel's time travel story, it only makes sense that the video would have been shot (theoretically) after Daniel convinces him as Chang talks about future events such as President Bush, the Internet and the Purge in the video.
Although Daniel, in his speech to Jack and Kate, talks about them actually being able to change the past because they are the 'variables' and don't think this is exactly the case. I would guess that only Desmond can change the past and he alone is the 'variable', as he does when saving Charlie. This could also explain why Eloise cannot see Desmond's future, because it is not set, it is independent of all the other 'constants'.
So the Incident will always happen and by Eloise shooting her own son Faraday, this will lead to Jack and Kate following Daniel's notes in his journal to prevent the Incident by using the Jughead, screw it up, and will ultimately end up causing the Incident. Eloise constantly pushed Faraday to pursue science in order for the Incident to take place, and thus, preserving the timeline and preventing any paradoxes. |

This is tricky. For some reason, I feel as though SHE is the variable. She had the choice of changing the future and didn't...
I could be wrong but this episode and Eloise's place in it all really confused me... |

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG....... im bloody speechless...... fn loved this episode!!god only gets better week after week.
I Screamed when Whidmore said He's My Son To, to eloise, i was the WTF i knew it!!!! im so exicted... So now penny and dan are half brother and sisters and expecially loved that Eloise slapped Whidmore good and hard lol
Loved seeing Dan again, uncertian of whether he will live or die? what do u think... after all that Eloise knows she still sends her son to the island to get killed by his own mother, its too cruel!! Maybe richard will take him to the temple and heal him like they healed Ben...
What will become of Juliet and Sawyer?? will they get punished or somehow escape and flee to the beach?
Chang or afterall believes in the concept of time trael will stil not acknowledge dans story, a bit strange to me.
I also thought it was sad when Dan approached Charlotte on the swings, almost made me wanna cry.... made me realise i miss Charlotte a lil...
SO Eloise did everything in her life to basically get Dan to do the island, so i agree with u jess, that she is the VARIABLE. she always was 2 steps ahead of everyone else, knwing what was to happen to the island to the oceanic flight, she could have stopped it all and not Dan?? |

Like Eloise said to Penny in the hospital for the first time in her life she is uncertain of the future!!!
Also wnated to add that i loved that part wen she apoliges to penny on dans behalf for ettin des shot and she was like to ELly, why is ben ur son, and elly is like GOD No!!! lol thought that was funny tooo |

That's true but she pretty much hates Jack now any way so...maybe she just didn't want to tell him at that stage because it had just happened... |
