after watching "This Place Is Death" and doing some serious pondering over the Locke and Christian scene I thought came into my head of who Jacob could possibly be. I belive that Jacob is Locke and heres why.
1.According to 5x05 Locke was suppose to turn the wheel and therefore leave the island. Before this episode we where lead to belive that Ben was suppose to do it because he had fallen from Jacobs graces and Locke had taken his place. I believe that Locke had to turn the wheel because he has to bring the O6 back but most importantly die.
2.If Locke is Jacob than this would explain why Locke can not see Jacob and unlike Ben is given directions or orders through others like Christian or dreams like with Horace or Yemi. If Locke where to see Jacob he would obviously reconise himself and completly through him off course. Jacob (locke) does not want to be reconised by 2004 Locke becuase he knows that 2004 Locke lacks faith and the only way to build his faith is to have him belive in a unseen higher power, Jacob.
3.The reason Locke has to die is stop there from being two of the same person at one time. this is why at the Oceanic crash Christian was used as Jacob's communicator once. Once Locke returns to the island He will be able to take on his Jacob status. |

4.It is obvious that Locke has a strong connection to the island. We where led to belive this is the because he is next to lead the others but allmost every test Locke is set to take that postion he fails at. The first of these is the when he is a young boy and chooses the wrong object and then there is his failure to kill his father. These two contradicting pieces of imformation make sense if Locke where Jacob. He fails at being an other becuase he is not suppose to be an other, but he has a strong connection to the island (stronger than anyone else we have seen) becuase he is destined to take of the role of Jacob.
5.The clue lies in Locke's favourite line "Don't tell me what i can't do" Lockes says this whenever some body tries to control something in his life. Except for Jacob Locke has lived by this saying. so why then when he lands on the island he hands complete control of his life over to Jacob. If Locke where Jacob this would fit into his character completely. Locke would be telling Locke what to do not anybody else.
sorry its so long I had all these ideas going through my head and if i didnt write them down i probably wouldnt of slept tonight. Anyway i'd like to know what you guys think |

| Its much more likely that CHRISTIAN SHEPHARD is in fact the man known as jacob and that jacob is just an alias. |

| Jacob, from the bible, was in fact CHRISTIAN and he was, in his later life, a SHEPHARD and he dwelled in Tents. His Last son was named BENJAMIN, whose mother died at birth. Type JACOB into WIKIPEDIA to confirm this. |

| The actor that plays jacob has a non-speaking role is season 1 - episode 1, he helps jack drag the guy out from under the engine. it is not "JACOB" as such but the guy thats plays him. |
