The dhama/hanso foundation created some sort of time machine in which an accident occurred and killed Jacob in the past.he cant die because hes trapped in the time machine but cannot live either
The plane crashed cause wen they were pushin the button it set the time machine back to a date or loop meaning that the island cant be seen cause it was back in time before planes flying over it were there.for that brief moment wen Desmond didn't push it our Losties were able to enter the time controled island.this explains why Desmond couldn't leave the island unless its through the special coordinates which the black rock entered through and Michael left
a time machine explains why pregnant women don't survive because they go back in time and they cant change their future.they either have to lose the baby, both die or if it is caring on a role it will live and mother die.Aarons special and has a role to carry on, Claire will die soon. And you still age internally even if yourve gone back in time
a time machine would also explain why john can walk and why rose feels free from cancer.they've gone back in time before they developed those conditions and john will become paraplegic again,his dad wont have to push him,but time will catch up with him and rose will start gettin ill to.I think if u slightly change your destiny and leave the island you wont be able to die till u go back and correct it
