History / Childhood Philosophers / Names Reply to this message
I also posted this in another thread, but thought id start the discussion here.

Just continuing on the people who brought up the history, I realise it has been brought up before in previous threads but it seems alot of people didnt see those, i know i didnt.

John Locke was also a child theorist. One of his main theories is that children are a 'tabula rasa' meaning a blank state on which parents, teachers and society can 'write on'. This theory has been disproven since then, but im wondering if it somehow connects to the idea that Locke does not want to be what others say he should be. He doesnt want to be a tabula rasa. 'dont tell me what i cant do'.

Rousseau was also a childhood philosopher. He had a romantic view on childhood... he wrote a story (emile) about a child being naturally raised on AN ISLAND, educated by a sort of tutor. However his own five children were RAISED BY OTHERS. Sound familiar?

It is clear that the names used in the show are no coincedence.

Just some food for thought for people who didnt see the threads about these people a while ago. (not that I know what they said)
