if we ignore plot barriers. who thinks that season 5 should have been the last for lost.
in recent weeks lost has been cut indefinately in many parts of europe and asia. ITV ireland has completely given up and sold it to pay tv. Austalia will have future episodes at 11:00. and no where it is showing are the ratings considered ok. even in the US it's dropping rapidly (from 13->8mil this year). considering that there is still a season and a half to go it is clear that this show is not going to get the big send off it deserves.
had season 5 been the last, chances are the networks would have just stuck it out and kept it close to primetime till the end. not to menton the plot could have wrapped up nicer instead of dragging out and getting rediculous.

If you watch the old S1 and S2 DVDs u realize how much this show has completely changed, and gone completely downhill.
I really dont understand the storyline going on with this time travel anymore.
I now enjoy the first, second {and maybe third} seasons on DVD more than the current season |

who cares if its not on tv, you can download just the same quality 3 weeks before it even airs in Aus.
LOST is the most unique, well written series around, and uses more imagination than all the other rubbish on TV could even hope for. |

"who cares if it's not on tv"
well it is a TV show, if it's not on tv. the budget will be chopped to bits. which affects the writing, directing, special FX, casting, music, camera work, sets etc. things that LOST especially depend a lot on
and the GFC doesn't help.
this is the main reason shows need to finish on a high. |

| I am so happy with Lost, and all its twists and turns. So many people are saying that its too complicated and going downhill etc, but I think that its about time a TV show is created that actually has a point and which stimulates the thought process, instead of you sitting and staring at a boring old tv show like a mindless drone. Good on ya Lost! |

Nope, I agree. Season 5 should have been the last. I love Lost as much as any of you, probably more, but I'm sorry, 6 seasons was probably too long.
As other people have said, if you watch the all the previous seasons, you will realize that the show has changed so much, and honestly, I have loved season 5, but you can see why other people have just given up.
I think Lost should have started heading towards an end in season 4, and ended in season 5. I think an ending of them finally getting back to the island and realizing that that is where they belong would have been a good enough ending. Oh well, thats my opinion anyway. |

can i further stress that season 6 or any further material will not be up to the standard of previous seasons. the show is losing profits from every angle it is possible to. international sales are almost negligible, US ratings are plummeting, tv advertising is less profitable now, and don't forget the GFC.
"it only matters if the us airs it and the show will finish on a high "
u'll find international sales are the most imporant aspect of any US show. |

Take your whinging to ABC, they requested 2 extra seasons. LOST was originally planned for 4 Full-length seasons.
Unlike some, I honor the writers and everyone else on board in the production of LOST. Their hard work deserves far better then being insulted by fans and murdered by TV networks.
My 56 cents. |

The good news is season 6 will be the last, which means there should be a huge kick in advertising and show popularity.
You can just picture the ads now can't you: "They've survived everything the Island has thrown at them; monsters, bears, friends, enemies, betrayal, romance, death. Now, find out what happens...in the end" |

| I agree!! I have put so much time into this show that I will watch till the end, even though I am very confusted with this season with all this time travel stuff. Can anyone explain to me the time travel business???? I heard next season is the last, they would have to spend a whole season explaining it all!!! |

| To those confused by the time travel theme; just relax and enjoy the storyline. Buy or rent the season on DVD and watch the episodes again later and enjoy all the details you missed the first time around. This show is so enjoyable because it gets the grey matter working, it really makes you think, and it's fun to discuss all the possibilities later with other Lost fans. It has been disappointing that the show is aired so late by Channel 7 this year, and it makes me wonder if they will take it off air altogether. If that happens, does anyone know if it can be viewed online? |

"if we ignore plot barriers. who thinks that season 5 should have been the last for lost."
Clearly no one since the creators specifically asked for 6 seasons and the American TV company who runs LOST wanted it to go even longer than 6 seasons.
"in recent weeks lost has been cut indefinately in many parts of europe and asia. Do you have sources for it being cut or dropped from these places?
It's dropping in ratings because all TV ratings for every show are dropping. People stream live online or download. LOST is still the most recorded and played back show in the USA. It's obvious the show is now specifically for it's fan base. They shouldn't be expecting massive ratings in the 5th season of a VERY complicated show.
7 would NOT have given LOST the prime time slot, it hasn't had that slot since the end of season 3. 7's aim is to keep it fresh and only advertise what (they think) everyone is loving at the moment. Other channels are far more dedicated to their long running series (law and order anyone?) but not 7.
And the plot would not be wrapped up nicely at all. Do you even watch the show? |

"Can anyone explain to me the time travel business????"
When Ben moved the island it started skipping through time. When Locke moved the wheel back into place, the island stopped and Sawyer, Miles, Juliet, Jin and Daniel were in 1974. They stayed there for three years. In 2007 (present time on the show), the Oceanic 6 and Ben made the decision to try to travel back to the island with dead Locke. During the flight, Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid were teleported to 1977. Sun, Ben, Locke and Frank didn't time travel, staying in 2007. |
