| Im pretty sure that wen he ran out of the hatch at the start os season 2 he took a book off of the bookcase & took it with him |

| Listen, THE HATCH IMPLODED. Even a remote control c ockroach couldn't find the right book let alone pull it out. And unless it had a gecko GPS travel marker built in the c ockroach would get lost. |

| i care more about des' book than anything else for some reason lol...its gonna play role in storyline somehow (im guessing) but plese does anyone know what the book is called.. its mentioned in episode when des first meets jack in stadium seats |

| He did open the book. That is where the photo of him and Penny was. After the hatch imploded he found the photo in the rubble, so I assume the book was destroyed. |

| The book was OUR MUTUAL FRIEND by Charles Dickens. Penny put a letter in their for Desmond to read because she knew it was his favorite book,but since it was his favorite he was going to wait for a special occasion to read it.[like his death] He is going to kill himself in the hatch so he reads the letter, then he hears Locke banging on the outside of the hatch,he thinks it's god or something and so he decides to live. The book has similarities to Desmond and Penny's relationship. Where the book is now? I assume it was destoyed in the hatch or maybe he left it on the book when he left the island the first time. |

| he took it with him when he left the hatch. i say it is still on the sail boat, wherever that is. the others took it and we never saw it again. also what about charlies ring that he left for aaron in the cot and what about the black and white stones that jack has. were they in his backpack, the one he threw in the ocean ? or are they still in his tent ? these items will be mentioned again i'm sure. |
