'Oceanic 6' may mean that the public (as in, the public in the series) is only aware of 6 people having survived the crash. This is supported by Michael and Walt's escape. There may in fact be many more than 6 that leave the island.
I read that there's constant dispute here whether it is Jin or Sawyer that are the 6th person. I don't think Sawyer leaves. I believe Jin leaves, but possibly later, and Sun visiting the fake grave is evidence of her not knowing he is alive.

| The Oceanic 6 was a title that the press gave to the survivors that the public knew that had returned. The 6 were Kate Jack Sayid Sun Aaron and Hugo. The sixth is Aaron. I have no idea how Kate conviced everyone that he was hers. Noone knew about Michael or Walt. |
