Yes you are right about Michael Faraday and there is some very interesting infomration relating to him.
1. Michael Faraday is most well-known for his work in electromagnetism - the very force that is so prominent on the island, as well as electrochemistry. Sounds a lot like the work Daniel Faraday does on the show. Michael's work includes: creating the first substance to be repelled by the poles of magnets, he was the first to report the existence of nanoparticles (black smoke monster?), thus creating nanoscience, and worked with various aspects of electromagnetism, specifically electromagnetic rotation (connection to Ben turning wheel?). Generally he is credited with forming the basics of modern electromagnetic technology. That can't be a coincidence.
2. Guess when his birthday is? September 22nd. The date the plane crashed on the island. Another interesting connection.
3. Today there is a physics law named after him - Faraday's Law, which is one of the 4 Maxwell Equations in Science. For those of you who followed Find815 and Sam's Video Diaries, you would know that Maxwell is the name of the mysterious company that Sam receives messages from.
It seems to me that might be more to the Daniel Faraday character than meets the eye. He may have only been written into the show at the beginning of the 4th Season, but there are some undeniable connections. Maybe much of the LOST Mythology is in fact based around the character of Daniel, and he may have a bigger part to play in the future. This may seem like wishful thinking, but Daniel does seem to know an awful lot about the mysterious forces on the island, especially the magnetism and time travel factors. No one is certain where his character is now, but my guess is that he has moved along with the island, and he has a bigger part to play in the future.
Just some things to think about?
What do you guys think? |

I agree that the names on the show are definately of no coincedence. Does anyone know of others?
John Locke was a childhood theorist. One of his main theories is that children are a 'tabula rasa' meaning a blank state on which parents, teachers and society can 'write on'. This theory has been disproven since then, but im wondering if it somehow connects to the idea that Locke does not want to be what others say he should be. He doesnt want to be a tabula rasa. 'dont tell me what i cant do'.
Rousseau was also a childhood philosopher. He had a romantic view on childhood... he wrote a story (emile) about a child being naturally raised on AN ISLAND, educated by a sort of tutor. However his own five children were RAISED BY OTHERS. Sound familiar? |

| Actually, on that, I forgot to mention the other significance on the Maxwell stuff. There are 4 Maxwell Equations in Science - and four people were sent on the mission to get Ben from the helicopter. And they are all scientists! Four Scientists, Four Scientific Equations, one of which shares a common name...Do Charles' Widmore's people have some connection to Maxwell? |
