| omg i was watching the episode last night where jack and tom meet for the first time... when jack didnt let kate come to help find michael but she followed them anyway and the others caught her... but the wierd thing is this... when tom is leaving and the fires go out all around them... the fires all turned into black smoke... could the black smoke be working with the others or could the other be controlling it... i am almost 100% sure that the black smoke was the cause of those fires... please go watch that and have a look for yourself |

| We are really taking this nit picking along way. You might as well say that the black smoke that comes out of the combie van is smokey also. All I know is that when smokey appears, that there is also mechanical sounds. |

| not always coz there hasnt been mechanical sounds in lots of times hes been seen like the time kate locke and jack see it for the first time in the jungle |

| yer i know its farfetched but i mean... they wont give off that much smoke... and it was relly dark and yet can see black smoke... the smoke was really thick and the fires werent emitting smoke before that anyway |

I think that the monster is different to different people like its black smoke when its bad person seeing it but if your a good person its somthing else
the only people who have seen it are chalie and eko (charlie druggie) (eko steals makes seals with bad people and kills) they are both bad people |

| i dont think it is a defence robot. the dharma in said that it was the first kind of wild life on the island. and the fences are there to keep it out. if dharma could control it and it was there defence system they wouldent need to build the smoke. i think the smoke 3 people. that mayhave been conected in a blast. |

| I think Smokey is a defenc mechanism of some sort but that's not the comment I wanted to make about it.I wanted to post my theory on why he kills or doesn't kill,so far he's shown himself to only a few people but those people such as Eko,Kate,Charlie,Juliet and Jack saw some of it have only seen it as a cloud of black smoke,Locke on the other hand saw it as a beautiful white light,now this might be because Locke seems to be a sort of chosen one on the island,but I think maybe it has something to do with their past,most of,if not all,of the people who saw the monster as black smoke has done something rather bad in the past,but it seems throughout all of Locke's life he's been a victim,people always seem to use him,he's only seemed to want to help people but they just end up stabbing him in the back,and I think maybe smokey can sense this and is why it showed itself as a white light,to let Locke know it didn't intend on harming him,anyway it might sound rediculous but those are just some of the millions of theories about the whole show. |

Anyone remember the episode where John was getting pulled into the hole by the monster?
Didn't it sound like a machine pulling him?
Almost like the sound of a roller coaster when your going up the first hill, kind of wierd if it's supposed to be just smoke |

well yeah....apparently thats not all it is....I remember an interview with JJ Abrams or Damon Lindelof or someone in 1 of those recap episodes where they were asked about the black smoke...and the reply was something along the lines of..."theres more to it, you've only seen part of the 'monster'"
and then theres all the 'Cerberus vents' marked on the blast door map etc |
