| I think that the accent is accentuated due to the fact that the show is american and their accents seem normal and any thing else is over emphasised |

She can't be from Victoria.
Has anyone noticed that Victorians pronounce their "e's" as "a's"?
Like when a Melbournian say's they're from Melbourne, they say "I'm from Malbourne", or they may say "I hit my albow" instead of "I hit my elbow".
Listen for it next time (unless you're from Victoria, then you may not agree with me at all!). |

| She must be from sydney/ brissy. They have a more of a higher pitch aussie twang sound in their accent. People from the southern areas like melb, perth, adelaide have less of that aussie whiney, exagerated sound (eg like you hear in movies like muriels wedding etc etc). |

Well yes knucklesupper, they could be just dtrange (I know you meant 'strange' - I'm just being an ars3hol3)...
I've noticed the whole "a" vs "e" thing on the news and hearing some vic people speak. Maybe since you're from there you don't notice it. Like when some Canadians once told me that they don't have an accent! |

and i had a canadian kid in my school who had an accent and he didnt unda stand why people made him say stuff like purple nipples, kangaroo or boomarang all the time lol
but i guess we all have an accent,we just think of it as normal, some people you notice because there accent is stronger, but if we went to america they would spot us out, its like when you watch an american ad, you mainly no its an american add because they make it all glossy and there voice is really american |

ive been on her my space page, she lives 3km's north-south of eastern-west Glastonbury, next to a guy called yokanovich, hes from russia though, and his real name is adolf.
p.s jsut cause she is from australia on lsot doesnt mean she is in real life, actors are really good at staging accents, have you seen dr. house's actor (from the hit comedy show house) talk off the show, its like omgwtf he sounds so different, i think hes british or sumthin.
p.p.s the first part of my post was a lie, first ps and this pps are true, lol |

| i think its also just compared to the american accents it sounds stronger. i was doing homework one day and my sister was watching an american show and flicked over to home and away. because i wasnt paying attention it sounded like it was the same show, but her accent was REALLY "aussie". but normally its not, its just the comparason. its like watching award shows (like mtv, oscars, etc) the australians REALLY sound australian. |

| emily de ravin was raised in melbourne and went to the states in her late teens i think. i find her accent pretty much on the mark consisdering she spends more time in america than australia. what i hate is when they put people on this show portraying australians when its clear by their accent that they are not. it's hard for a non aussie to do a convincing aussie accent as we saw in hurley's episode in season one when he was talking to that woman in the outback near kalgoorlie about the numbers. her accent was shocking, so fake i cringed and got mad. |

| She sounds normal to me, and I am from Victoria. Her accent does stand out a lot because it's placed up against all the American accents though. Its funny how your 'ear' for accents changes within context. |

| Guys, she is most definitely from Brisbane. Proven in Season 1 when we see her home, in the background is a Glory Years poster of the Brisbane Broncos, and it looks very much like it comes from the Sunday Mail, a Brisbane only newspaper. |
