Hi there, had the implant for just under 1 year, thought id give it time to settle down. I had a period every 2 weeks and the past 2 months i had it every week. The mood swings were no good, and i put on just over 1 stone. I heard about the weight gain side effect but i am naturally very slim and thought it wouldnt happen to me, at first i put it down to me being 19 and my body still changing but after the stories i have read it must be linked with the implant . Have had it takeb out just a week ago, was wondering if any one who gained weight and it had it taken out lost the weight easily after having it removed? It had made ne very self conscious, this is one of the problems i have had, worse cramps and periods etc. I think it is worth a try to gey the implant because if you dont get these side effects then it is great!

Hi my name is rosie, I've a horror story due to implanonn I had my first one for 3 years ago and found it great no periods or anything, so thinking it was great I got another one in, which was grang for the first few months, well I was porking out a bit but I wasn't bothered. Then about 9 months ago my chest started to hurt, then my calf muscles, lower back, hips, knees and shoulders started to really hurt, I sometimes found it a struggle to get up in the mornings with pain. I've had every test in the book including a gallbladder check and a stomach scope, I seem ok. The mental side effects are worse tho, I'm depressed and anxious to the point where I'm afraid to be alone I've just had it taken out on June 5 and feel worse than I did before.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
i had a implanon for a year and a half i had horrible pelvic and lower abdomen pain. that was so bad i would cry sometimes. i never had a period and i completly lost my sex drive. i just recently got it removed and the doctor didnt do the procedure right, and my arm now has a really bad infection inside of the tissue. so if anyone goes to take it out make sure they do it right.

I feel so bad for everyone here. I have been on Implanon for over 2 years. I have never had any side effects (except for losing a little weight in the begining). I have never had headaches, acne, no bleeding at all, cramps, loss of sex drive. This is the best form of birth control I have ever been on. I am getting married in a month and was curious as to how fast I could become pregnant. I hope everyone can find answers to their questions and have better luck with implanon.

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Okay I'm glad I found this site. I had Implanon put in in 10/07. First the depression came, and I was put on 2 different medications that wasn't helping. I gained weight that seemed to be getting worse. I just want to eat and would actually look for something alot. Headaches were horrible, the severity equavilent to the worst migraine. Now I suffer from headaches and migraines but it has been worse. I always want to sleep, and wake up feeling so tired. Lost interest in things, felt irritated when people were talking(never used to be like that), mood swings, acne, geeze I could go on and on. So I'm having it taken out next week. Hoping no bad side effects, just be back to myself.

Hi Deirda, I'm actually in a really simular sitaution. I had my implanon removed on 5/12, spotted a little bit on 5/20 and nothing since. I've taken a test but got a BFN, that was last week. I've decided I'll wait a bit longer before taking another. I have been having very slight cramping also...hmmmmm..this stuff can really stress a person out. My email is zkitells@yahoo.com if you want someone to talk to..I know i'm contantly on the search for someone in the same situation.

Best of luck to ya!

Hi Wetduckfeet,

thank you so much for posting this message as I feel exactly like you...Implanon was the WORST decision ever. I also put on about 10kgs, lost hair, NO sexdrive, depression...and to top it all off I'm still waiting for my period to come. I had the bloody thing removed on the 21/05/07!!! That's two years ago...I've been chequed out from top to toe and there is no physical reason for this...only one thing this can be put down to: IMPLANON. My GP and I have now taken the whole issue to be investigated. I will keep you all posted what the outcome is. Meanwhile only one advice to every lovely woman out there: "don't touch this drug"!

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hi i too have been having strange symptoms. I had my implanon removed 13 May, was due my period 19 may, I havnt had period yet, and have been having stomach cramps (like period pain), sickness, feeling bloated. I have had negative results for both pregnancy and ovulation, would it be too soon to detect pregnancy. Dont really want to bother a doctor with this if it a common problem. Has anyone actually got pregnant within days of removal?

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hello, I know you posted your message last year and I hope that you are still on yahoo. I was wondering if there was ANYONE who was in the same boat I was. I'm not sure if I am pregnant but my husband and I would be so happy if I am. I had my implanon removed on May 4. We had sex on May 3. I had some light spotting from May 6th until May 9th. I am normally I heavy bleeder. Could you perhaps tell me like what you symptoms were and when u came positive for a pregnancy test? I had a blood test done on May 21 and it was negative, could I have gotten it too early? Sorry to keep goin on and on but I want to know so I can take proper precautions at work. I have already started taking prenatal vitamins from my doctor since we want to concieve. Thank you.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi i read about the problems you are having after taking your implanon out.The same type of thing is happening to me i had regular periods all through having the implanon in.Had it out after 3 years as we would like another baby.Last period was on 28th march took implanon out on the 11 april . I had the sore boobs felt sick throught i was pregnant i was wow must have fallen straight away.No after many test and negative got my period on 1st may.Now its the 23rd may awaiting a period same symptoms but ive had bad belly pain and shooting up pains so i think a negitive result.Look keep trying i had it in before my last child whos 3 half and it took 8 months and the only positive ovulation test i had was the month i got pregnantand i was having 28 day periods so hold on it will happen to you...Good luck girls baby wishes to you all.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Megan, I JUST read all of the side effects for Implanon. It's crazy how we put so much faith in something that our Gyno says without really researching it. After reading these posts I left a vm at my gyno to have it removed. My biggest complaint is this darn depression!!! I'm such a happy person and for the last 5 months I have been faking it and being on the verge of tears because of this mask. I'm not a depressed person and to top it all off, I have been gaining weight and NOT being able to lose it. AND I've ruined every cute pair of panties so you can imagine how ugly and boring I feel! lol. I feel so much better now that I see I'm not depressed, it's my BC. Oh, don't let me forget about the headches that have made me resent work! lol. I thought it was my work load! lol. Anyway, thank you for sharing because you made me happy in knowing that I can be happy again. I hope that you get to spend time with your child more and I hope to spend more energy in my new relationship. I'm going to Ireland Friday (and hoping he asks me to marry him) but not sure why when I've been feeling so down. Our lives will get better! Hang tight! ~lmelfy@yahoo.com

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
ALSO.. I JUST WANTED TO TELL MY STORY AS WELL..

WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE IMPLANON I THOUGHT I HAD FINALLY FOUND A B/C I COULD LIVE WITH, (I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THEM ALL, THE IUD, THE DEPO SHOT, THE PATCH THE PILL AND NOW THE IMPLANON), BUT I WAS WRONG AGAIN...I HAVE HAD THE IMPLANON FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS NOW. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY LEARNED THAT I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT! I HAVE ALMOST EVERY SIDE EFFECT IN THE BOOK!
-MASSIVE HAIR LOSS
-WEIGHT GAIN AND INABILITY TO LOOSE GAINED WEIGHT
-MOODINESS INCLUDING ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, FEELINGS OF COMPLETELY HOPELESSNESS, AND NO SELF WORTH, NO INITIATIVE
-HEAD ACHES/BACK ACHES EVEN RECENTLY, PAIN FROM THE INJECTION SITE DOWN MY ARM
-ACNE ON FACE, CHEST AND BACK
-HORRIBLE FATIGUE, IN FACT I THINK ITS PAST THAT.. ALL I WANT TO DO I SLEEP, I DONT EVEN FEEL LIKE GOING OUT SIDE ON A SUNNY DAY TO PLAY WITH MY NOW 10 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER.
-TOTALLY EMOTIONAL TO THE POINT I CRY OVER EVERY LITTLE TINY THING.
-TOTAL LOSS OF SEX DRIVE
-MOOD SWINGS SO BAD I ACTUALLY START FEELING VERY AGGRESSIVE.. WHICH IS NOT LIKE ME.
-RANDOM BROWN SPOTTING, TRY AS I MIGHT I CAN NOT KEEP UP WITH WHEN I WILL SPOT, ALL MY PANTIES ARE RUINED.

I FEEL AS IF I AM MISSING OUT ON THE MOST IMPORTANT TIMES OF MY CHILD'S LIFE.
I DO NOT LIKE THIS THING, I LOVED IT AT FIRST BUT AS IVE HAD IT LONGER IVE REALIZED THE SIDE EFFECTS ARE JUST THAT, SIDE EFFECTS, FOR AWHILE I THOUGHT I WAS HAVING PPD..BUT THAT WAS NOT IT AT ALL.
IM HAVING MINE REMOVED ON THURSDAY AND IM SUPER EXCITED ON HAVING A SEX LIFE WITH MY HUSBAND AGAIN AND HAVE ENERGY AND HAVING THE ENERGY TO GET UP AND GO OUT SIDE TO RUN AND PLAY WITH MY DAUGHTER AND NEW PUPPY......
PLEASE PRAY FOR ME CAUSE ITS BACK TO THE PILL I GO!!!!
(I KNOW EVERY WOMENS BODY IS DIFFERENT, I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE, IF U ARE PLANNING ON GETTING THIS B/C MAKE SURE TO CHECK WITH UR DOC, LET HIM KNOW ABOUT ANY PAST DEPRESSION AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF AND WEIGH OUT UR OPTIONS!! THIS CAN WORK WONDERS FOR U, OR MAKE U TO ...
