Wait until at least day period is due. Buy 2 tests, because if positive u will want to double check... if negative give it a few days if no AF then retest. Good luck... let us know!

Well I never had the period symptoms before the implanon, i think after removal the hormones just go crazy... maybe everything's exaggerated, I've read that your super fertile after removal, and more chance of conceiving twins. Good luck to u.

Thanks Ria, I'd forgotten what 'normal' cycles were like! I'm sure I'll still be going crazy until AF arrives though ;)

Karen,
I would say its definately too early to feel pregnancy symptoms. After removal I really experienced preg symptoms around my period... which i never had before. Very sore, swollen breasts, headaches etc. I think its just the hormones. Pre-period symptoms are the same as pregnancy symptoms. Good luck ttc. There have been cases of people falling preg so quickly.

Hi
I had implanon removed 22nd May, AF 24th May. Unprotected sex 8th June and feeling pregnant, surely I wouldn't have symptoms already??? So, has anyone else had really sore/tingly breasts after having implanon out? Or even the same feeling within a week of conceiving? AF not due 'til 21st June, am driving myself crazy with waiting to test!

Carmen,
Easier said than done I know... but try not to stress out too much. What hapened with us was I have always said I would not want a baby to be born around christmas time, as both mine and my partners birthdays are then, plus with christmas and new year I just thought it was enough going on.. however when it came to trying for us beginning of April I knew that would mean baby due bang on christmas. Because we want another baby so much too we just said if it happens it happens.. and it did!! I think it was because some of the stress wasn't there!!
Are all the signs there that you have ovulated in april and may?
Have a look at the website www.babyhopes.com it has an ovulation calender on there that is so helpful. I used it and am now 11weeks preg!!
Good luck to you.

Hi guys.

i had my implanon removed on the 22nd of March. My husband and I have been trying solid since then. Every month I put my hopes high and get them shattered. My daughter will be 4 soon and I have always hoped to have another kid quite quickly so that the gap betwen my kids is not that big.To all those women who have been on implanon and have managed to conceive, what word of advice have you got?

Many thanks,
Carmen

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
i recommend from personal experience that every woman who has the implanon or is thinking about having it should be informed of all the possible side effects and problems (which i wasn't ) and then make a decision. i know i wouldn't have ever gone on the implant if i had had all of the information first i didnt realise i was playing with my chances of having a baby. please people think about it seriously before having the implant PLEASE
if you do have the implant please think seriously about having ot removed.

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hi Chloe, get your hormon levels tested asap and have an internal ultrasound done of your ovaries to determine if there are folicles on them. if there are this is good news as then it means your system is hybernating. I will post more information after the 18th when I have undergone more testing in Germany. At this stage I'm seriously considering taking legal actions due to non-disclosure of information which as a result has caused much pain. the answer 'just wait' is not good enough! because given you are 33 now if you have to wait say 2 years plus and then don't conceive straight when you have say your first ovulation this will put you (as is the same for me mind you) in the higher risk of 35+ women category. after 35 fertility drops dramatically...another issue which should have been taken into account by the gyn. love to hear how you are going. cheers,
nat

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hi Natahari,

I am another victim of implanon where I do not have any period during the implanon in my body for almost 3 years & even after it was removed in Jan 08. I believe that i am facing amenorhea problem. I just turn to 33 years old with 2 sons & am planning for the 3rd kid to come on board this year. My plan is spoiled too as i don;t even hv any period now & not sure how long should i wait for a normal ovulation to happen. My sister (medicine student & do practical in hospital now) told me that this problem is quite common to those implanon takers and certain ppl need 6 months to 2 years to get back the normal ovulation. She asked me to wait........
My gyn did not inform me about this side effect too when i got it in after delivered my 2nd bb...
Good luck to you & hope to hear your good news soonest!!

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hi,
I am actually quite concerned after reading these posts. I am on my second implant now which finishes in Jan 09. My boyfriend and I have been together over 6 years and are planning to start ttc after having the implant taken out in Dec/Jan. I would just like to say thanks for "shocking me" into seeing my dr about this. I was not informed of these possible side effects and I am now a bit worried. I am only 24 but I thought we had it all planned out, from saving (hopefully!) enough money, to roughly when our baby would be born. I just hope that we are some of the lucky ones. Thanks for opening my eyes.

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
hi hayley,
i just thought your message sounded oh so similar to my situation. i am only 20 and had the implant in for 2 and a half years i suffered from acne on my chin as well. the doctor was less than helpful and just palmed me off with excuses. i have had the implant out for 1 and a half months now (against my doctors wishes) and my skin seems a lot better now. unfortunatley i have been doing my research into concieving after implanon and most of the info is not good. it ranges from not being able to concieve to the occasional happy ending. i am ttc and i wish you all the best i hope we both get what we want soon

I have had the implanon for nearly 2 and a half years now.and i also had very bad acne on on my chin area. went back to my docs and was given creeme to put on, which turned out i was allergic to and made my skin worse! the implanon is a nightmare in my eyes.im am nearly 21 and before the implanon i was on depo injection for over a year.and before that, the pill. nothing has ever suited me. i am making an appointment this week to get it removed, but im scared that the doctor will refuse, with me being so young. me and my boyfriend want a baby but im just wondering could someone tell me how long i should expect to wait to get pregenant? a month before i had the implanon, i came off the injection. please help me, i dont know what to do !!!!!

Hiya girls
It is a massive relief to read all your messages on here. I have been suffering from acne on my chin area for over a year now. I was not told of the side effects by my doctor. Only just clicked the other day when my beauty theripst told me the problem was down to my hormones. Checked on the internet to find that im not the only person with problems. I am planning on having the implant taken out asap!! Hope this will work and solve my facial acne.

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hi Ria, thanks for your kind words. I have a three year old son and we wanted another baby basically last year, so as to not have such a major age gap...but unfortunatly it is not going to be. I'm also not that old yet either ;-) (32 to be fully honest), hence although fertility decreases with age, the dramatic drop only happens once you hit 35. Since posting my last message I have become aware that in Germany the manufacturer puts a disclaimer on the leaflet that comes with implanon, stating that amenorhea is a common side effect. this disclaimer is nowhere to be found on the Australian leaflet, however all the other side effects such as weight gain, moodiness, no libido etc are on it. Also it turns out that the German obstetricians/Gynos seem to be ahead of our guys here. I have spoken to three different ones in the past week and all three have independently confirmed that it is widely known that implanon has as a sideeffect amenorhea which can last between 3 to 33 months! now taking a normal distribution, one would expect of those women being unlucky enough the average woman would experience about 18 months of amenorhea. now to be fair, amenorhea is a known side effect of the pill too, however I chequed on two pill leaflets and both mention this side effect and state if amenorhea takes longer than 2-3 months the woman needs to consult a dr. anyway...you can imagine that I'm not only deeply dissapointed that my life plans have been altered, but I'm also extremely angry at both the obstetrician who convinced me to use this stuff although he did not provide me with all the info I needed to take an informed decision and Organon (the manufacturer) which conviniently does not mention any of these possible side effects. I have written to Organon...still not reply yet. I guess they are having their lawyers review my email. will keep you updated on how things are going. but one thing is for sure, Implanon will never get a ringing endorsement from me. :-(

Natahari,
I am deeply sorry for your situation, and the terrible fact that you have had it confirmed that it is to do with Implanon. I think it is terrible that the product is still available when devastating effects have been found, and are still being looked in to. No one should be guinea pigs. Can I ask... do u have any children already? What age r u? I agree that the product should not be available without every tiny risk attached disclosed so therefore can be considered before use. Good luck, and I hope that your fertility returns at speed.

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Well ladies its official: I'm having fertility treatments to reverse the effect of Implanon! I'm absolutely gutted and can't believe this is happening to me, who always thought that I was ohhh so fertile...we used to joke that I only needed to look at my husband and would get preggers. It is very painfull and I can't even contemplate at this stage what might be if I'll never regain my fertility. I have undergone massive examinations (blood, ultrasound you name it) at the university clinic Freiburg in Germany. Why Germany you might ask...well they are at the forefront of research regarding the long term impact of Implanon on fertility and I'm being looked after the top German endocrinologist and fertility specialist there and now also part of his long-term independent study. I don't want to scare anyone and certainly the two ladies who were lucky enough to get pregnant recently (congratulations and I'm really happy for you) might be right, that there is selection bias regarding the ladies who will write in this forum...only those experiencing problems will and given right now over 30.000 women in Australia are onto it, the few in this forum experiencing problems are certainly in the unlucky minority. nevertheless even if I am a one in a million case, it is very real to me and no woman can predict if it will not happen to her at some stage. My endocrinologist told me that it appears that the risk of this happening increases with the prolonged use of Implanon, although they have no fully reliable evidence on it as yet, as no long term studies of the Implanon exist just as yet. I have writen to Organon to get a 'please explain' however they have not come back to me yet....so let's see. I have also seen a lawyer today as if my fertility has been taken from me for good, I will take legal actions. There needs to be full disclosure to women about all the risks, even if these risks are only minute. I would never wish any other women going through what I'm going through.
