Ladies after having my implanon out i didnt have a period for 3 months i was put on Progesterone tablets as the implanon had stuffed with my body. I am now on my second cycle after the tablets.
I'd say if you havent got a period for 2/3 months after it is taken out go see the doctor.

well im finally getting back to ye! after finding out that i had to go to hospital to get my implanon remoed due to it being too far deep behind the muscle. i made an appointment with radiology. the first thing the doctor said was that 9/10 times they can remove it in hospital under general anastethic. otherwise i would have to go to teathre. luckily mine was easily enough removes. i got ultra sound on my arm to find it. i was then given an anastethic and it was removed. i didnt feel anything after the injection and i didnt watch! if i knew it was going to be this much trouble i would hvae never gotten it in! im so happy im free from this now! i feel sooo much better. happier, more energy . im not feeling hungry or anything! i would not recommend getting this in!!

Hi, I had implanon put in roughly six weeks after I had my son, I had it in ywo before the adverse affects started, they got progressivly worse I started having uncontrolable mood swings violent out bursts as well as heavy bleeding I had it taken out a week ago. I litteraly forced my doctor to take it out for these reasons. My mood and emotions are now 100% better although im goung on my third week of bleeding. If i were you I would sit him down and tell him and if he doesnt listen go somewhere that will, I almost had too they legally have to take it out if thats what you want if you have the insurace to pay for it. I hope for the best for you and hope ive helped.

No this is not normal. I just had mine removed for that fact but they got to be the size of golf balls. I had a very difficult removal after having it 2 years. But that is something that needs to be discussed with your doctor.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
I had my implanon in for 9 months, the entire time i had really bad side affects. Constent bleeding, cramps. It took me a while to get a doctor to agree to take it out. Anyway, its out now and we were TTC and thought we had as I'd missed my period for almost three months. I've heard many stories of this happening straight away? Is this possible so soon after such a systamatic stuff up of hormones in my body to occur soon?

After reading you comment you seem to have a few of the same side affect as me

Iv had the inplant in for about 2years iwas ok on it for the first year

I think iv had about 6-9 proper periods in the 2 years!! im not complainin

Now im booked in to talk about having it removed.

For these reasons im tired all the time,im depressed, very aggresive(rang my doctor he said i should go to anger mangment)im having it removed for these reasons. headaces, weight gain, itchy boobs, stomach pain and iv even had 3 urine tract infection(i have never had this befor!!) Also im not happy as i have to wait 3weeks to have it removed!!
If i was told of these side affect i would of never had had it put in! I feel like a test RAT. The fact is the doctors that put these in dont realy know all of the side affect that they can course.
i do have a question for any 1 who can answer!! how long to when i sholud feel normal when it out? and when will i be able to get preggers?

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi,
I had my first period when I was 14 and it lasted for 35 days until the doctor gave me some medication to stop it. I was then put straight on the pill to regulate my periods. I was on the pill for 6 years until I decided to switch to implanon. I have been on it for 2 years and have recently decided to have it taken out and give my body a break and allow it to work naturally. I have an appointment with the doctor this week to ask them to take it out. I was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation to me? Im worried that because my body has never had to do things on its own, it wont work properly. Does anyone know what is normal after coming off contraception???

i had my implanon fitted last year following the birth of our youngest child. i loved the fact that i didnt have to think about contraception, however the side effects were awful : constant bleeding, acne which was painful, and weight gain. im having it removed next week and cant wait!
Im just a bit worried about what to expect after its removed?

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Same here. I got mine out sometime in August because of the same side effects (i gained about 30 lbs in 5 months and was loosing my hair) In addition to constant spotting/periods. But now its been since August and I haven't had any period? My Dr. (in September) said it was about normal but now its late October. What the hell?

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Ladies,
I was on the depo provera for 3 yrs off and on until last year i discovered the implanon. I had it inserted the 24th of december 2009. I hadn't experienced a period for over year because of the depo and since i transitioned to the implanon i thought it was fine to continue to not have a period. Now it is october 11th 2009 almost 10 months after having the implanon inserted and i passed 2 blood clots about nickel size.. they were dark in color but wondering if this is normal.. I am setting up an appointment for this week but any quicker responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
woman in desperate need!!

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi Ruth, thanks so much for posting about the results of your hair loss. I had my implant removed 4 weeks ago and have already started to see an improvement in my hair loss. It was really scary seeing so much hair coming out (I was losing about 200-300 hairs a day), and although it is still thin and lots is coming out, I see a major improvement around my hair line and lots of little new hairs. For those of you that are experiencing hair loss due to your implant, don't worry, you will not be bald!!! Just have it removed and talk to your doctor about alternatives. Thanks again Ruth, its nice to know the hair can come back :)

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hello Ladies.

Ive been reading the posts and I have to say that I didnt realize there was so much side affects with the Implanon. I had mines removed about 2 weeks ago and had it in for a little over a year. I had my period very irregularly. After inserting the Implanon in July of 2008, my first period came in Sept. It was like a normal period. The next one came in Dec. This time it was a little longer...2 weeks and heavy. So I was expecting the period to come every 3 months which was fine. I loved not having a period. Not sure if its normal not having a period. The last and final period before I decided to remove it, did not come until August of 2009. Wow...thats a long time. It was great. I LOVED IT!! I realize that I was gaining weight very slowly and wanted to lose it. No matter how healthy I eat or how much exercise I do, I just couldnt do it. So I decided to remove it even though I love not having my period. I just have to deal with it if I want to lose the side effects.

Since the removal, Ive lost a little weight and feel much better. The only problem I have now is trying to figure out how long it takes for everything to go back to normal.

Does anyone have any idea?!! Im trying to look for some answers when I came across this website. Well I hope everyone is well after the removal. Not everyone will have the same kind of side effects so good luck to those who still have it in and good riddance to those that had the removal done.

Take care everyone.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
I experienced major hair loss on the implanon after 4 months of having it in. My hair was already thin and I was losing hundreds of hairs a day. At 6 months I had it removed due to this. It IS a side effect and it's not that rare- between 1-10% of women according to my doctor. However, after I had it removed (and went back on the pill) within three months it stopped falling out and I had the beginnings of regrowth, so cheer up ladies!

Kate,
I had the same thing happen to me. It was taken out in the hospital just over 3 weeks ago. They left me with a bigger than normal scar plus a second one. Its not fun but at least I was out for it. Good luck and let us know how it all goes

OMG!!! I have had implanon for almost a year(the 6th of October is a year) and I have always had low blood pressure so low during labor i had to have oxygen and stay in bed..... all of a sudden my blood pressure has doubled and I have gained so much weight... Im on an extremely restricted diet... I cant wait to get this thing out of my arm. You have to let me know how yours goes because I have to have the samething done... too far deep in!! If I would have known all of this I would have NEVER gotten this done!

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi all, I have had implanon in for 3 years and am due to get it removed this week. the first 6 months was heaven! no periods at all. after this they begun to be irregular. i didnt mind this for the first year but then they started getting very bad. i could be on a period for 2 weeks with 2 days off and then have another period! other than this i have experienced some weight gain in the past 3 years and it is impossible to loose any weight. i have also experienced some depression in the past year that may be caused by the use of implanon. i wouldnt however discourage people from trying this form of contraception. i think people should see if it suits them- if it does suit you it would be a easy form of contraception. I am now worried about getting it removed, but hopefully some of the problems i have beeen experiencing lately will disappear!

To r.singleton19, You NEED to advocate for own health! I too am 20 years old and had my implanon taken out on Monday. I almost immediately noticed a decline in side effects which much resembled those of pregnancy. I am now on Nuva Ring. So far, I've only had mild cramping. The best part is, if I really end up hating it, I can just take it out. Ultimately, you need to demand that they take it out. You know your body better than any doctor!! And if you were wondering, mine didn't hurt to have taken out. Best wishes!
