Yes, you can fall pregnant before having a period after removal.. hopefully period should return in about 4-6weeks if you have been having fairly regular periods whilst using the implanon.

hey i am exactly the same its like old blood so i've been told , because your not having a regular period and it just stays there if that makes sense. thats what i have been told ne way, because i would get that for a few days and then nothing and then get the same again for almost 2 years

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
i didnt realise there where as many problems out there with implanon. i have had a really big issue with my period. i rarely would get it at all and then all of a sudden i was getting them all the time and they would last for 2 weeks some times, but i just put up with it coz i wasnt ready to have another baby. Now its almost about to expire. I got mine inserted in oct of 05 after my first child and now its about a month and a half from running out and i just want to hurry up and get it out because we are planning on having another baby. We fell pregnant so easily the first time and now i;m really worried its not going to be so the second time round.

Hi, glad there are positive stories too. I know things will prob go back to normal but it's just the waiting. Without a period (ovulation) there is no chance of getting pregnant!!

Hi again,

Yes guys, try to stay positive. I know it's easy for me to say that when I have had a good run. Unfortunately the Implanon may not be right for everyone. I have a friend who had alot of dramas with trying to fall pregnant with her second child after having the Implanon out. She had to have her tubes flushed at one stage and then she suffered an eptopic pregnacy. The stress was unbelieveable for her and her hubby. Then after all that, she just relaxed and said what will be will be. 2 months later she fell preggie with twins, almost instantly after more or less giving up.

Go with what feels right for yourselves, have patience and dont feel you are failing.
Each individual body will take its own time to right itself after having an Implant in that messes with the hormones.

There are good stories out there, your good story may be just around the corner....
Have faith

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi,
I would just like to say that my experience with implanon hasn't been bad either. I had mine inserted oct 05 after my 1st child, aged 21, had lighter periods every 6weeks or so, then had it removed end Jan08, had a period a month later, then the following month, then fell pregnant in April on 3rd cycle after removal. I am now 21 weeks pregnant, and I will seriously consider using implanon again after the birth. I know I've been lucky, but there are probs with all types of contraception. And I would like to point out that people with trouble are more likely to use sites like this searching for answers.
Good luck to everyone ttc.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hey there,

I am starting to think I must be one of the lucky few who have done well with the Implanon.
I first had one inserted in 2001 soon after my first child. I didnt want the drama of taking the pill cos I just kept forgeting. The Implant was so easy. I didnt have any period dramas, if anything they were lighter than before.
Then I had the Implant out in 2003 cos my partner and I wanted a second child. Removal was in September then I had a small period 2 weeks later. I was pregnant by late October, with Twins mind you. After having the twins in July 2005 I then had a new Implanon re inserted in Dec 05 (after breast feeding finished). My periods were not so regular for the first 6-7 months, I was considering having it out. But i stuck with it and it has been ok since. Just in the last 3 months my cycle has gone out of wack again, probably cos it it's nearly full term and due for change. I will be seeing my Dr soon and have to decide if I want to get another one in or not. Reading these pages has made me wonder what to do. I dont plan on any more kids so I am lucky to have fallen preggie so easy when I did.
Good luck to all you who have not had such and easy time of it.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi all, well after getting implanon removed in jan 08, still no period or pregnancy. Went to doc and he looked at me like i was stupid. Basically wondered why i was wasting his time! He also scared the living cr*p out of me....according to him a small % of women never get their period back? Has anyone else heard this?

So worried and stressed now! I am 24 so thought I would have no problems ttc when the time came :-(

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
this is something you need to speak to your doctor about. Don't leave it. It is probably something to do with the implant but you will need to get it checked. Go back to the doctor who did your implant.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
i have had implanon in for almost 2 years and after reading this, I am worried about whether I should have it removed or just continue for another year. I am still very young and I am not trying to have anymore children anytime soon. I was also thinking about getting another one in after the removal of this. Implanon has been great! No periods since i got it placed during my period. I dont mind it, My periods were horrible and crippling I spent an entire day layin in my bed, and sometimes vomitting occured. I liked my experience with implanon. But i would like to have more children, I'm worried about that part.

Not if your ovulating right now. Now is the time to conceive. Then if no period comes in next 2 weeks or so then test. Good luck.

If the ovulation tests say your ovulating now, I'd go with that. After implanon you can ovulate before having a period, so if ur TTC then now is your best bet, and period should be due in the next 2 weeks or so depending on the length of cycle. Good luck!

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
i had mine removed on the 19th June. Its now the 15th July and im still waiting for period.seen doctor yesterday for a preganncy test and it was negative.she told me 2 wait another 4 weeks and if i still dont come on , re-do a test.
the weird thing is, i have been doing ovulation tests and according to them, i am ovulating right now. plus, the doctor that took it out told me it takes 1 week to go back to normal, and the nurse i saw yesterday is saying 3 months!!
whats going on !!!?
