Hi guys.
I have been on the implanon for the last 3 and a half years. It was not easy to be on the implanon. sex drive was low, bleeding was going on for weeks at a time. I eventually got the second implanon removed on the 22nd of March this year and have fallen pregnant in July. I am writing this message to give hope to people. It is possible to become pregnant after the removal of implanon. Best of luck to all women out there trying to conceive. |

| I just had my implanon taken out Sept 17. I was on it for just over a year and I didn't like it. My doctor said that I would stop ovulating and evenutually stop have a period. But that didnt happen. If I missed one month the next I was bleeding for 2 or 3 weeks. But since Aug 16 my last cycle I havent had anything. I recently changed relationships from no sex to all the time sex. So I can't tell you if I'm pregnant or if its my hormones changing from removal. But I havent even spoted once since my cycle was over Aug 19. So I dont recommend the implanon but I'm also no help for those that are trying. And yes I am trying now too. |

| Hi rcfno1, i too am 24, i had implanon twice. First one for 3 years and 2nd one for 1 year. Had it removed in Jan 08 and still waiting for my period and no chance of pregnancy as i am not ovulating. My doc said the exact same thing but i was never told this- i was actually told that i could conceive the day after remova! My doc said your fertility may never return and that i should have been told this. i am worried and angry too. my doc is not taking it seriously at all. I was told i am too young to worry about infertility now and he will act in a few years time which i do not think is fair at all. No suggestions for you but just wanted to let you know i am in the exact same situation. Any one else have advice for us? xxxxx |

Hi Kirstie,
Did you have regular periods while having the implant it? I had mine in for 15 months with not one period. Then had it out last month and came on this week so fingers crossed my cycle won’t have been affected. i have had lots of other problem in the past so my bof and i have decided to get as healthy as we can before trying for a baby. i take it your not ovulating at all.
I take it your has been out for 5 months with only one period? When was it after it came out? |

Ok, I haven't had my implant out because I haven't had any trouble with it but I'm wondering if I'm pregnant. I have had it in for 3 months. First month, light-normal period. Second month very light period and third month nothing at all. Keep in mind that after I had it implanted, we waited the recommended 7 days (well we used condoms) and then on the 8th day it was a free for all! He hated those condoms and was just counting down the seconds until the 8th day when he could throw them out!! Maybe too much information but, it might help to know that we didn't hold off on the sex even if I was on my period As long as I was not bleeding at that moment, we did it! We are newlyweds... ok!!
I'm wondering what the odds are for this implant not working. I'm overweight... like 100lbs overweight... and I know that the more you weigh, the higher the risk of this thing not working. In the last few weeks I have had a strong metallic taste in my mouth, nothing tastes right. I am having trouble sleeping and have to pee all the time. I get up like 5 times in the night to go to the bathroom. I go all day while at work.. people have commented about how much I go! I don't have sore boobs but then again I won't ever have sore boobs! I had a breast reduction when I was 17 and my boobs do not have the feeling normal boobs would have! So that can't help me. I haven't missed a period cause I'm not having them cause of this implant (or so I think.. maybe I'm preggers and don't know it!) I've been kind of cranky the last couple of weeks too. I normally realize when I'm being cranky and just keep it to myself.. or try to anyway. My poor husband keeps asking if I'm pregnant cause if I'm not he's going to worry about my sanity!
I'm thinking about buying a test but would it give an accurate result? I mean this implant is supposedly sending chemicals that trick the body into thinking its pregnant. So would a home pregnancy test work properly? Any feedback anyone can give would be great!
Thanks |

Hi nsknar, went to doc today and she said it it not harmful AT ALL to keep implanon in for another year. the problems you may experience are that it is not efective, and it may be slightly more difficult to remove due to extra tissue growth but it definately will not make you ill or your arm fall off!
I really hope this helps and puts your mind at ease. Well done with what you are doing.

| Thank you so much for responding. I would appreciate if you can find out with your doctor regarding this. I just need to make sure that it would not decay in my arm if left for a year. Thank you |

| Hi nsknar- i am no expert but when i got 2nd implanon inserted i used extra protection just in case as it had expired by one/two weeks. i mentioned this to doc who said that it is ok to leave implanon in after expiry date but it will eventually lose it's effect. Removal is pretty simple and a small proceedure but if you are really unhappy i would think it would be ok to leave it in. i would be happy to ask my doc for you if you are really unhappy? Let me know. |

I don't know who else to enquire with and hope you can help me. I have Implanon in my left arm it's a second one and expires in Oct 2008. I reckon it's the best thing ever happened to me. Nothing was painful for me, i didn't have particular disorders, etc. Have periods 4-5 times a year, quite short, etc.
I am currently staying in a developing country with poor medical system, bad doctors, and excessive comsumption of medication of any kind. Just to give you an idea - for people here use of antibiotics is normal should you have a flu or something, you can get antibiotics without prescription. I don't trust medical system here at all! Anyhow for work reasons I plan to be here for another year. I was wondering if its safe to keep the implant in for another year until I'm back in Melbourne even though it expires in one month. It's made of bio-tissue and i tought i can be all right to have it in even though ineffective. I appreciate if you could help me or let me know who I can contact with the enquiry. Thank you |

| Hi, it is possible to get pregnant before having a period after removal.. although the chances are quite low. Hopefully your period should come 4-6weeks after removal, but everyones different.. some people have 1 the following week... extreme cases are waiting for literally months and months. It all depends on your body, how you was before, during, age, hormones... it really is a waiting game, although stress and anxiety can stop your period from coming. So try to be at ease a bit.. easier said than done I know. Just concerntrate that your body is getting everything it needs. Good luck |

| Hello Poisoness83, No offense to you, but, instead of trying to make babies at such a young age, you should have been concentrating on your education and taking more ENGLISH classes. Your message was a mess!!! How can you teach your child anything if you are illiterate!! Sure, your family may be "complete" as you say, but they are lacking the skills they need as growing people because of their uneducated mother who wanted to HAVE A COMPLETED FAMILY before she was old enough to realize what that really meant. |
