Hi Everyone
I was just wondering if anyone out there has any similarities to me. I had the implanon removed after 16 months - about 7 months after my daughter was born (29/1). On 26/1 had light bleed prior to removal (was bleeding roughly every 2wks, but only really light and sometimes dark red/brown) I had a light bleed 2 days later (which Dr said was like a withdrawal bleed - or something to that effect). Since then about 2 weeks later thought I was ovulating (12/2) and then pains 5 days later (thought was implantation bleed). And since 2 weeks until a few days ago I was feeling naucious/reflux? (feeling in my throat like someone is pushing on my throat and after you've been sick), really tired. I had flutters in my stomach between 14/2 to 16/2 (like a very light version of when I 1st felt Bub#1 moving). Though I might be pregnant but had 3 negative HPTs so far. Feel like I am going crazy as I don't know if I would be pregnant as I've stopped feeling so nauscious and no more pains and it has been that long since I had a normal period (April 06 - prior to Baby#1 conception) I don't know what my regular cycle is. I am in limbo and this is stressing me out big time |

After reading these posts, it was good to know I am not the only person going through this. I had my implanon put in 3 months after my son was born. It was in just under a year as I was moody, tired, overemotional and underemotional (sometimes I felt nothing).
Also I originally lost nearly 10 kg just after I had my baby. After going on the implanon I put most of that back on in the first couple of months. I began excercising more and eating properly and it would not budge. I had my implant taken out today and I hope that things will start to get back to normal.
Also I was just wondering if anyone was told to not have unprotected sex before the removal??? I have read online that some women were told to remain protected up to seven days beforehand. I definately wasn't and was wondering if anyone has fell pregnant from this?? |

| Hi there, i have had Implanon in for over 2 years, have made an appointment to get it out next week.... symptoms i have had are zero sex drive, panic attacks, depression, severve fatigue, weight gain of around 18kgs, & am very moody, all of these symptoms are so unlike me... my poor kids & hubby... time to get my life back into order. I am thinking of having my tubes done as i have no desire to have anymore children. My dr, recomended other contraceptive alternatives, but i have decided that excluding all foreign objects from body will be the best.. good luck |

hiya, yeah my friend got caught pregnant a month after removal without having a period, so is possible.
i had mine removed 16th dec 08, and had a period 6 weeks after but was only spotting really, so yours should come back soon.
i was really worried after reading all the horror storys, but just takes a little while to return. all the best. |

| Hi, I got my implant removed on Tuesday 10th Feb. I had already started my period and it was pretty much finished when I went to have it taken out. Me and my husband want to start trying for our 3rd soon. Anyway, 2 days after having it taken out I've started bleeding again! Im guessing this is my normal period now but its so annoying! The nurse really didnt want me to have it taken out and was really urging me to have the coil put in! Even after telling her no several times she still kept persisting. Anyway, didnt have that put in but do you think this is my normal period? Its day 3 of bleeding and before the implant my normal cycle is about 5 days bleeding but its not really slowing down very much. Just wanted to know if anyone could shed some light? Anyone had similar experience? |

| Hia, generally speaking your 'normal' cycle will return within 24-48 hours after removal. I had one in after my daughter was born and got it removed after a couple of months and then a couple months later (whilst on the pill) I fell pregnant with my son :) |

| I know that everyone reacts differently to certain things but I had the implanon out in February 2nd (after 6 years)and for 5 days after that I had constant headaches (like dehidration headaches)and I am off the food I normally eat and some smells that I liked before really stink to me now. But the headaches have stopped so hopefully everything else will go back to normal as well.I asked the doctor about the headaches and she told me she has never heard of the headaches but obviously from this message board there are a lot of women that have suffered from them after implanon was removed. |

hi, just a small update on my situation.
had implant removed on 16th dec 08, after 4 years with no bleeding.
was really scared of not getting fertility back after reading some horror storys, but got my period on sat, but no like a normal bleed, more of a clotting of brown, to be expected after 4 years, so fingers crossed can now try for a baby.
good luck to those who are trying. |

I had it removed 15th Jan finally after overexaggerating some of the side effects i was having. Not sure if they really can refuse to remove it but i think it was coz they thought they could fix the other side effects i was having by putting me on the pill at the same time...which did nothing but give me massive headaches which is why i went back and they finally agreed to remove it. Ive had a bit of dry skin on my arms which only seems to have started when i had the implant in but nothing else rele...is this common do you know?? |

| Hi, just updating on my situation. Had my 2nd implant removed after 4 years in mid December. We are trying for a baby, so I did ovulation tests and all was in working order in January. Took HPT early last week and got positive. This week...early miscarriage. While the egg was fertilised, it was unable to implant in the uterus wall properly - something they call a chemical pregnancy. Oh well, you can only try again...... :( |

babygurlseza...
when i went to get it inserted the woman was trying to get me on another type of contrecetion, like the injection, she was stressin for me to get that to be honest she was sayin to me its exactly the same as u have to get an injection with the implant anyways, and if you dont like it after 3months its gone anyways, i still was determined to get it done, because she was advising me of all the side effects whilst on it, the same thing happend to 2 of my friends, i hear its supposed to be a really expensive thing apparently anyway, but as i say when i got it out she was really snotty, have you had yours out? she should not refuse to remove it?? its your own body if you dont like what its makin of you then she has no right saying no. Hows your skin with it?

I had a similar problem with my nurse...the nurse who inserted it stated that weight gain was a side effect but when i went to have it removed because i thought i was putting on too much weight the nurse refused to remove it as she told me that weight gain was not a side effect! I wish these people would get their stories straight! |

Hi laura, ive had mine removed yesterday, i had it over a year. i didnt bleed at all really on mine, apart from this week! its been terrible!! when on this i suffered terribly from aneixy and panic attacks, i thought this was due to my anemia or my under active thyroid, when i spoke to my doctor, she advised me to get it removed as it is common for people to be suffering from panic attacks and stress when on this also the mood changes you could go from bein soo happy to so emotional! i also put on about a stone and a half since i had it, Its not worth it, it is handy for it to just be in your arm and not have to worry about becoming pregnant, but the side effects are horrible.
When i advised the nurse of this, she basically just said its no different to any other form of contraception, and that we will have side affects from all forms of it. Also she basically said the weight gain was my own fault.

i had my implant out on 16th december 08. i have just today started spotting brownish blood, hope this is my period so i can now try for a baby. i would not recommend the implant to anyone cos i got really bad side effects after removal. will go for the coil next time.
good luck to all trying for a baby, fingers crossed for me too. x |

Hiya im 20 had my implanon removed a few weeks ago due to periods every 2nd week and major weight gain. As yet i have only had very light bleeding for a couple of days and am desperatly trying to loose the weight. I cant believe so many people have had such problems with it, these things are not mentioned when they insert it! even when i went to get it removed the nurses refused to aknowledge it causes weight gain.
For those facing a long wait to have it removed if you are desperate i would suggest that here in Luton there is two sexual health walk in centres Brook (Under 25s) and The Lodge (over 25s). I had mine removed at Brook and as long as you have not had unprotected intercourse in 7 days they will take it out the same day. You also do not need to be registered with them or even have an appointment so i would suggests looking for such services in your area. |
