I had a light period for about 3 months after the Implanon was implanted. After that, I have had several 1 day periods. I just have no idea when they are going to come! I believe the time between when I stopped bleeding the first time to when I had a period again was about 12 weeks. Hang in there...it gets better. The only thing that I have not recovered from is the moods. Hope this helps!

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
To the person who posted that all these symptoms are 'normal'. I am sorry but I not agree at all. Implanon is an artificial hormone placed in your body.

As I have found out myself, these symptoms do not miraculously disappear when you have it taken out. I had implanon for a year and had it taken out due to weight gain (a stone and a half), feeling depressed, extreme fatigue and hair loss. After a week my moods did improve but now, a year after having it taken out my periods are not back to my normal cycle. I have a period every 6 - 7 weeks apart. My hair is still falling out and I get headaches and extreme PMT symptoms for around 3 weeks before my period is due. I have been battling to loose the weight I gained with no success.

I can only put this down to the Implanon as I was healthy and was pregnant before I had it put in. I am now having to go through blood tests etc to find out if I am ovulating etc etc. I feel Implanon is the worst decision I have ever made and I was lucky I had a husband who stood by me through my horrible moods and treating him like he was a stranger. I would urge anyone considering this to think seriously about putting an artificial rod in their body for 3 years. It is not worth it.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
Hi. I had my implanon removed Thursday last week 2/4/09. It was my second implanon, so in totally I have been using implanon for 4.5years. I was due to ovulate the 3-4-5/4/09. My partner and I TTC 3-4-5/4/09. I feel sick and the smell of different foods make me sick and I'm peeing all the time! Is it too soon to be pregnant and to be having pregnancy symptoms? I am 27 and this is my first attempt at conceiving. I had normally periods 28 days apart lasting 6 days whilst using implanon. Thanks to everyone for posting. I have learnt heaps. Great place for first time Mums to Be! Lots of bady dust for everyone.

So glad to read your post. Havn't heard too much about fatigue and anxiety. Have had my implanon for 7 months and have been so tired its ridiculous. My moods are low with no motivation to do anything. Bleeding every second week, not a lot but the build up to it is aweful. Also getting anxious for no real reason which is interfering with my day to day living. Having it out next week and just hope i start to feel normal again and stop being so tired.

Rose.

I've just had my 2nd implanon removed after about a year of it. I've had horrific side effects for 4 years now to the point that I have been approved for sterilisation at the age of 23. I'm just wondering if anyone has had strange side effects since the removal of their implants? I have had horrific skin sensitivity since it has been removed. i am covered in an itchy rash and even the seams on my clothes are making me want to tear my skin off.

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
I understand you are a RN and would like to say thank you for your service. I am also on implanon. Since I was blessed with Aunt Flow (period) they have ALWAYS been on time. Exactly 28 days. Mine always lasted 5-7 days. I got pregnant in 2006 and had my daughter 2-13-2007. After trying Depo, I went on Implanon in Dec. 08. I don't like this, but can't 100% prove it is from implanon until I get off. I am in a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR stage of depression, I have had a period for 2 weeks now, and my stomach pain is horrible. I can't tell anyone about miscarrages because I am still on it.

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hi guys :)
Im 21 and had my implanon removed begining of Feb 09.
After having it in for 10 months. I had terrible weight gain and actually developed a clot in my right lung. ( Doctors can't prove implanon was the cause ). I was very worried after reading some womens periods dnt come for months and months but was very happy when i got mine on the 22nd March 09 which were really heavy but still average 6 days.

I dnt want to use any contraception but am wondering what are the chances of becomming pregnant with the pull out method..
I have read numerous answers on forums but can;t seem to tell which ones r true as the answers r all so different.. Please help :)

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
hey, was looking for a something and came across this site ye all seem so worried! i read most of your posts, the implanon bar effects everyone different but its all normal guys from bleeding a little to a lot getting brown spotting is normal its just old blood. getting spots on your back and chest is normal too, its a form of acne but it will propaly get worse before it gets better. Also miscarraige is a fertility proplem once the rod comes out
that its!sorry. the rod wont cause any proplems to your body just aukwardness more than anything! ps my sister had hers taken out that night she conceived and is due next month. hope this helps but i can promise you all systoms are normal!!!!

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
I had the Implanon inserted Dec 08 and everything was fine. Had a bit of pain during the night but when the bruising went down it was fine. I was telling everyone to have it as my periods disappeared and I did not have to worry about remembering to take a pill! Then all of a sudden I had a bit of bleeding but the doctor said this was normal. Then it stopped and started again and now won't stop. It's not a lot but enough to put me off sex. Besides that I have put on weight, got spots which I never had, my husband says I am moody so I am scheduled to have it out next week. Back to the pill I guess!

In reply to misscarrying... i had mine in in 2001 and took it out May 2004, fell pregnant June 2005 and i have a healthy 4 year old son.. not everyone has misscarried..... although i was constantly moody and snapped at the smallest things while it was in.. and no period for the whole 3 years.. THAT was a bonus

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
I have had the implanon since Aug of 08'. At first I thought this thing was wonderful i had no periods with the exception of one and light spotting every now and again. Since Jan 27 I have a had 7 very heavy periods. I have also gained 14lbs on this thing. My face has also broken out multiple times and my hair is sheeding more than normal. I am moody irritable and either feel like crying or wanting to snap on someone which is very unlike me. Yes it is beneficial in the control aspects of it. I have been scheduled to hae it removed next week due to i can't rely or pin point when i am gonna start again.

what is the point of this thing if im always bleeding, have bad ab pain, and always really moody.

the point to get it in was to have sex without worrying about getting pregnant!

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
hii.. i just wanted to say that i recently had implanon put in.. just about a month ago (feb.24, 09) to be nearly exact. the very first week or so my emotions went haywiree i was crying after laughing, and could only say that i didnt know why. i weighed 95lbs when inserted and had previously weighed roughly 110lbs. (went thru a depression). i have felt completely better recently. i now weigh 100lbs and my sex drive has risen(although i have always been a sexual person). reading all these things about women having trouble concieving after removal is really making me nervous, i understand that everyone reacts differently to everything but at 19 this seemed like the best decision as to settle my life and later decide when i wanted children. my boyfriend and i have been happy so far but both terribly want children in the future.. any suggestions ?? tips?? anything will help
thank you so muchh
pleasse replyy!

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
Hi,don't know if this will help or not.
i had my implanon removed in january and had fallen pregnant by februaury.
i miscarried this week and after alot of looking found a site where most people miscarried after they'd had it out,so all i can advise is leave it a couple of months (feels like forever when you want to try for a baby i know!) for your body to really get rid of the implanon.
i don't know for a fact if it was the implanon but it seems a massive coincidnece that this has happened alot x
