Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
i just thought i'd add, in the first week of the implanon, i had no bleeding or spotting. but afterwards i had a light constant bleeding. its been a couple days since i had it removed and i now have a fairly heavy flow, similar to my normal periods. i'm just curious i guess to know whether my body is now in its regualr cycle.

my partner and i really want to concieve quickly, and i guess after reading everyones post i'm worried that i wont be able to for some years, although i only had the implanon in for 2 months. . . worried and confused. . . i'm regretting having the implanon put in because of other womans hassles with not being able to conciee and finding out the implanon has caused infertility. . :(

Re:Implanon - conceiving after it? Reply to this message
hi all,

i'm almost 19 and after 2 months i had the implanon removed due to unbearable side effects. before the implanon i had been using the pill as my contraceptive since i was 16-17. i stopped it about 4 months before i got the implanon and had it removed after 2 months.

my question is, how would i know if i was fertile before the pill?? and how soon could i get pregnant?

My Fiance and i, want to be "young" parents and i'm worried that i may not be able to get pregnant for sometime. or that i may not even be fertile because of being on the pill at such an early age.

can any one help me out with this?? has anyone got a similar story and successfully gotten pregnant shortly after the removal?
(replies pls state my user name at the beginning so i can find them easy)

i just took my implanon out yesterday because of the prolonged bleeding and frequent bleeding too. I found that yes after I had finished bleeding, got intimate with my partner, i started to bleed again. I had it in for two years, and that was the only problem. Reading these posts has made me want to get it again, because I am not fond with taking the pill. I would love to insert implanon again, but don't want the irregular bleedings. It is a great use of contraceptive and would recommend to everyone, just the bleeing made me really angry.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi,

I have had the implanon for 8 months. I removed it on wednesday, and noticed that I have been very tired. I was wondering if anyone else had this as a side effect too.

I was on the pill for 10 years and had heavy bleedings in between my periods. So I choose the implanon.
I didnt put on any weight or had bad skin. My sex drive was a bit less, but I think it is to easy to blame it on the implanon when there are so many other factors that can infleunce this.

Taking it out was horrible it toke my GP 60 min and left me with stiches and a blue arm. But that was only because she put it in the wrong way because I was the first person she inserted it on. And she didnt told me that.

But oh well, I recommend it to everyone. But can someone tell me if they were tired to after removing it? And felt a bit down. Thanks

Hi rchl_lsn
I know it's been almost 2 years since you posted but honestly I am feeling as frustrated and concerned as you were then and I really hope you can give me some advice or give me good news about how you are feeling now...

To tell you my story - I had been on and off the pill for the best part of 10 years but always took a break every now and then and never had a real issue with it. On advice from my doctor (just to make things easier not having to take pill every morning, not have to worry when taking other meds etc) I got implanon inserted and had it for just over a year. I had no real side effects during the time it was in other than no bleeding what so ever. I know most people would love this but I just got more and more concerned every month. So much so that I got it taken out.

That was a year ago this month and for 6 months I had nothing. I was so relieved when I started to bleed just before Christmas but I have been bleeding almost every day since then. It changes in flow and to be honest I dont really have any of the usual pms aches/pains etc but its REALLY worrying me now and Im almost too nervous to go to my gp.
Im hoping you can give me a bit of hope....

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
Hi there, im having the same problems since i've had my implanon in, however I did loose weight not sure if it's down to the Implant or the anti-depressants though. I have no sex life with my husband (we've only been married 3 weeks almost) and I have periods that last 3-4 weeks every month so that gives me about 5 days break in between periods, then when I do have sex it makes my period come on, I don't understand whats happening to me, I've asked for the Implant to be taken out, had it in nearly 2 years now just don't know what other form of contraceptive to go on, if any and just use protection when I have sex with my husband xx

I broke out in bad acne around my chin and this is my first month on Implanon. Thinking of taking it out soon. This was the first side effect I experienced.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
I’ve been on implanon for almost 1.5 years now, got it November 2007. I’ve had a lot of the same side effects that everyone is talking about. Mood swings, very swore breasts, bad cramps (worse than before I went on it), unable to lose weight, no drive to do anything, low sex drive and no periods. But 1 year (December 2008) after having it in the no period part changed. That Christmas I had a 9 day light to normal period and exactly 1 week after it ended I had another 9 day light to normal period. There weren’t normal periods or as heavy as I thought they would be after not having one for a year. Most days I only needed 1 *** and a panty liner. I asked the Doctor about it and they said it was just due to all the stress. Okay yes I was really stressed, it was Christmas, I was flying home and my husband had just deployed for 10 weeks. So I just shrugged it off. But the double period thing is happening again. Same as last time except I’m not stressed anymore than normal. The bleeding is still kind of light to normal, with crazy mood swings, very sore breasts and an upset stomach when I’m not cramping. Have any of you had anything similar to this? Any suggestions would be great, since I’m kind of starting to freak out and the Doctor just says its normal and caused by stress.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
hey, no I didn't have any weight gain through the Inplanon, although when I was on the pill I did. Like I said give the implanon a chance, I hope it works for you, as I think it best thing ever, and when I need to use contraception again it certainly will be the implanon. Good luck with your exams. keep me posted.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
I suggest to you that you give the implanon a chance. I was the same as you, forgetting to take the pill and therefore I had the implanon put in. I have only just taken my 3rd implanon out due to my husband and I wanting to try for a baby. All together I had the implant for 7.5 years, with little side effects. The only problem was bleeding was up and down, and not regular, but that's not really an issue because you know in your stomach when your period it about to come.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
Im 16, i have been with my boyfriend for nearly a year now, i was on the pill, but i always forgot to take it and always got paranoid about being pregnant, so i decided to get the implant fitted, the doctor tried to persuade me to use another form of contraception like the injection, but i wanted the implant because i wouldnt have to worry about it for 3 years.
I didnt take much notice of the side affects because i thought they only happend to a few people. Ive had my implant for 5 days now, and only come across this website a couple of days ago, when i read everyones storys and it seems many women are not satisfied with there implant and have got it taken out because severe side affects they where having, i am worried that i will get the same, like putting on weight, headaches, bad periods and mood swings...

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
I guess I'm one of the unlucky...After about 6 months of having it my breast got really tender b/4 my periods. To the point that I didn't even want to move they hurt so bad. Then my PMS symptoms included vomiting and headaches. every month I feel like I'm preg. Then about 5 months ago my period started lasting for 4 weeks at a time. Needless to say I'm having it removed.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
I found this forum a source of calm through my on-going experience with Implanon. The implanon was fantastic for me, I had it in a total of 3 years without any issues : minor spotting. I still maintain it is a fantastic method of contraception (if you only get mild side-effects). However, the last month post-removal, I started to get chest pains and sore breasts (ECG normal) and went to see a doctor who told me my hormones where causing this pain : the breast examination was negative. I had the Implanon removed without any issues. The breast pain was ongoing and I had it rechecked and had a U/S : both of which were negative to any pathophysiology. I developed quite severe anxiety which I had never had before : to the extent I was laying awake at night ruminating on my symptoms.
It took approximately 7 weeks for me to get my period : which only lasted 2 days. Prior to this I thought I was pregnant due to all the symptoms : including tender breasts, reflux, lower abdo aches and generally feeling bloated. However 2 x preganacy tests were negative.

I still feel "not right" at 8 weeks : with reflux continuing and tender breasts. However all of my other symptoms have resided. I have read it takes up to 3 months for your body to return to its "normal" cycle.
I would like to thank all the women on this forum who have taken the time and effort to post their experiences : good and bad. Just reading about other peoples experiences has quashed my anxiety : knowing that other women are going though the same thing. I hope mine does the same.

I have had my implant since June 08' and at first I loved it. Then about three months in I got my period and bled for about 10 days. My period comes and goes every two months or so but I gave gained about 15ish pounds and my face looks like someone attacked it with an ice pick. They aren't even normal zits, they are the very deep ones that make your eye twitch. I am getting it removed may 1st. This thing is definately not worth the hassle of being chubby and acne ridden.

re the pull out method. my partner and I used this method for 6 years. we had a planned pregnancy in this time and also one surprise pregnancy. I think this method is only reliable with alot of discipline and only for single ejaculations as any sperm remaining could be released in pre-cum, increasing the chance of pregnancy. it also affects intimacy if you know youve only got a small window to reach climax before your partner. I would recommend the use of condoms above pulling out for pregnancy prevention.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
Hi, I've had implanon in and out over the last 7 years. I've found it's been the best thing I've ever been able to do for myself - I used to have a very heavy painful period and terrible permanent pmt. After having Implanon put in, I realised for the first time that awful moodiness etc isn't "normal" for other women. Plus no period is always a bonus!

Only side affects I've found was a decrease in sex drive, and on the most recent implant I had spotting for a few weeks, but my GP gave me some progesterone tablets which I took for a few days and it fixed it. Mind you I was halfway through my cycle when I had it put in that time.

What I am confused about now is I had it removed on 26 March, and no period. I don't want to visit my GP unnecessarily, but can anyone tell me when I should have expected to resume my cycle?

from reading all of these posts, it certainly seems to be that implanon affects everyone differently. for me, it's been awesome! i absolutely love it. my whole post-pubescent life i was moody, snappy, and had moderately painful periods. the instant i got implanon, my moods totally stabilized and i've been happier as a whole. for the first few months i had spotting, but then that disappeared entirely so now i have a completely period free life.
