Hi Ladies,
U scare me dead. I put on Implanon in July 2007 due to heavy bleeding which made me aneamic. For the first 6 months everything was ok but things started getting worse beginning seventh month, serious cramps,URI, terrible abdominal, back pains and headaches and I thougt could be the experiences would go away but i was long. I have discussed this with my hubby and have agreed the removal. Girls I'm 38 years and not intending to have a fourth child but I'm fed up with all contraceptives and would go natural. At least i need to rest from all the hell assocaited with contraceptives. |

hey guys
ive had implanon now for about a year and a half.
ever since about a month after having it put in i always felt tired, moody, worthless, i get really bad headaches and stomach pain and worst of all i feel like everyone is against me. im only young and the reason the doctor put me on it was because i was alergic to the pill and it was slowly killing me and now because i cant be on the pill he or my parents wont let me get it removed.
i have forever got my period.. i have it for about 2 weeks staright it goes away for about 5 days and comes straight back again. but the worst time was when i first got it put in and i had it for about 4 months..
im that low in iron that the doctors couldnt believe i could still get up in the morning. because im so moody i have lost alot of people around me including my bf.. i was so moody all the time that he just couldnt handle me and i couldnt control what i was doing. ive never infliced harm on my self but since i cant control myself im scared that one day i might. i have put on so much weigh, and my skin has gone really bad, i used to have great skin but now i break out so much and it just really upsets me that the doctor or my parents wont take me off it. sometimes i get so depressed i just want to cut it out myself. and the worth thing is im not sexually active they just put me on it 'just in case' but i just think its so unfair.. how would they like it if it was happening to them. can anyone help me? |

Hey I was just reading your post and had a few questions. I am 19 yrs old and had the Implanon removed 2.5 weeks ago. I had it for just under a year but had awful headaches everyday. Since I have had it taken out I have been feeling a little nauseous off and on through out the day nearly everyday.. Is that a symptom that you have had since your removal of the Implanon?
I have been on the pill since it was removed and was curious as to whether my body was adjusting and thats what was causing the nausea or if pregnancy is the only other explanation. Pregnancy is the only other thing that has come to mind but idk that I could be considering I have been protected. I haven't been able to find anyone w.the same symptoms. |

I am so PLEASED that I have spent the last 20 minutes reading all these posts!!
I had the implanon out a week ago as I was to lose weight that I had put on! I am serious fitness and health freak, I was been working SO hard to shift it but NOTHING! Also had the whole milk thing, boobs grew from 32D-32F!!!! Moody, snappy, misearble, my sex drive is ok but I felt RUBBISH about myself all the time that my Fiance asked me to get it taken out! I was really bloated the whole time, had AWFUL cramps in what felt like my ovaries, has scans and everything but could only put it down to the bolt" as it's commonly known in our house!
It hurt a little, but I am excited about hopefully shifting some pounds and getting back into my clothes.
We are going back to condoms to give the body a well deserved rest then going to try the persona, I hate the thought of ever having extra hormones pumping through my body, failng the persona, the last resort will be old fashioned coil with no hormones.
I have felt agressive, angry, impatient and what hideous since, but I'm sure these side effects will subside! |

| I have removed implanon over 1 month ago and was expecting to conceive but no luck--yet. I guess the body is taking time to adjust. One or two months is too little to be anxious, but I believe your worry is not helping matters. Relax and do not worry. You will have good luck soon |

| Yeah... i agree with candic80. someone needed to say it. as harsh as it may be. but lets not fault a mother for being illiterate or uneducated, if she sees value in education despite her own lack of one and instills that value on her children then she's a good mother and she is doing a good job. ignorance in our society is a choice, that is one thing for certain... |

I just felt I should clear a little something up. The card we have which indicates which arm the implant is in is for medical emergencies only - so that doctors know its there and dont remove it or cut into it. It actually indicates this on the card.
I am now on my 3rd implanon implant and each time they have put a new one in the same incision as the one they've removed - this saves on causing unecessary scarring and is perfectly safe to do so. They dont like to change arms as its best to keep it in your non-dominant arm. Nothing dodgy at all about putting it in the same spots.
Oh and ladies, its massively important to get it put in on the first day of your period - everyone I know who hasnt done this has had bleeding issues and had it removed! |

| Hello Vixen 89 and all. Im a newbie here too. I am so pleased that I stumbled upon this blog, I too have the Implanon in and Im currently on my 2nd one due to be removed in Feb 09. However, I got married this year and my husband and I have decided were ready to begin trying for a baby.(were 26) Reading some of the postings has got me really worried. Ive been so naive about all this coz I thought - well I was always told - that the Implanon was immediate. As soon as inserted protected against pregnancy and as soon as removed not etc. However, now im worried about all the general withdrawal symptoms and also not being able to conceive for a long time. It was in fact my husband who encouraged me to find out whether there may actually be any pregnancy problems or any implications towards the baby due to Implanon. He's not going to be so pleased when I tell him about all the horror stories posted here! I was going to wait until just before xmas to have it removed but have now decided (this very moment) that I will be going to the clinic this weekend to have it removed. I will undoubtedly be keping you informed and hopefully our stories will be success stories eh Vixen89? Also, just for the record I too have only recently had a very unusually low sex drive and of course only through finding this blog can put it down to the implanon. |

| Hello all im a newbie here! Be nice hehe, im 19 years old with a recent birthday girl of 3! had the implanon inserted in march 07 and had a lovely time until august 08 when i bled constant and heavy for 3 weeks then a 4 day break then again for 2 weeks which was heavy, painfull and just unpleasant. So went to the docs as was in so much pain, an with an active lil one you cant afford to be poorly...im sure ull all agree! i had some swabs done for infections etc and all came back fine, me and my partner had a long chat and we've decided to try for a baby! oh i am excited! had it removed yesterday night, and ouch! but its fine, a bit achy and sore. i have alot of your stories and worried about being infertile, it would break my heart if i couldnt ever concieve again. But on the bright side ive read a lot of success stories, its such a shame not everyone has a succes story. i had it removed last night, and this morning i woke up with a cracker of a headache! , its not so bad now but it was nasty! since i was cooking tea earlier i started to get some light cramps down below so i am hoping its the start of a period, or just my body getting back to its natural being...i hope so anyway. i will keep updating if anything changes and i wish everyone on here the best of luck and hope we can all share experiences soon! xx |

| i had the implanon in for 7 months I took it out June 27th cause f the major side effects... got preggo ausuget 8th and lost the baby september 29 2008. my husband blames the implanon, but i told him no that's not true, but it did spark my interest so i decided to do some research. now after reading these i believe it is the Implanon! so my question now is how long will it take for your body to go back to normal before you can have another baby? and not miscarriage? |

Hi ip4lat,
To me you don't sound like you have much of a problem... your body has returned to a cycle, just because its not straight onto a 'normal' 28day cycle is not a major dilema, you just need to monitor youir body for signs of ovulation so you know when to try. You are very lucky that your period returned so quickly after removal, shows that you have ovulated, it just wasn't when you thought. And don't forget it far from a sur thing to conceive just because you have sex at the right time.
Good luck |

Hi ashleigh.philbrick,
Whoever the doctor was that told you that you should be pregnant in 72 hours should have his/her license revoked. No-one in any situation should be told this, contraception or not, because theres so many factors that need to be right to conceive. It has only been 3 months since you had it removed, your body needs to get back into a regular cycle, the same as with ANY hormone contraception. The average time for anyone to conceive is 6-12months, regardless of what contraception has been used. The best thing for you to do is try to relax a bit to allow your body to be level, and monitor signs for ovulation, use ovulation tests etc. Everyones body is different.
Good luck. |

| I had the implanon inserted after my 1st child in Oct 07. I had it removed July 08 because my husband and I are wanting to have another baby. The doctor told me that I should be pregnant within 72 hours and I am not pregnant yet. Here is is Oct 08 and no baby. My periods are still not regular and I am so scared that I am not going to be able to get pregnant again. I am 23 and my daughter just turned 2. Please let me know if anyone has said that the Implanon prevents pregnancy after removal. Thanks |

| I think her best bet would be to have the implanon removed. I was also aggressive when I was on implanon, but since I have had it removed I no longer feel that rage. |

| I have had Implanon for the past 5.5 years and have not had a single side effect other than the agression. I am fine 99% of the time, but it just takes that one little thing to tip me over the edge and although I know what I am doing and know it is wrong, there is no control over it. BTW i have never had any issues with agression before. The most important thing is to recognise it and try to control the out bursts as much as possible. I only have one about once every 6 - 9 months now. |
