| i had my implanon put in on 07/04/08. Contraception wise... Its fantastic. Otherwise so many side effects. Ive noticed ive been experiencing hair loss.. My hair so not as thick as used to be, i get headaches every now and again. I have bad mood swings, happy one minute, annoyed the next, the smallest and silliest things ill get pissed off over. Ive gained 30kg since being on it and everytthing i try i cannot lose it. And im tired all the time. Ive finally made the decision to have it taken out on tuesday... Hopefully my body goes back to normal and i dont experience any bad after effects. |

| hi i had the implant in and had to have it removed a month ago as i became incredibly depressed anyway on the same day as having my implant out they gave me the depo shot the nurse saod it was safe to have sex as id still be covered by the implant but id not have a period at all during the 3 months while the implant was in. ive been reading your comments and they all vary saying that i wouldnt be covered after 24hrs of having the implant out and the depo injection wouldnt take effect for atleast a week. needless to say i went home and had unprotected sex thinking i was safe anyway its been a month and ive had period cramps for 3days sometimes really strong but no blood. so just wondering if anyone can help me and let me know where i stand?? |

| I had implanon in for 2 years and then came off it due to depression and mood swings. My periods were never regular and nothing changed when I came off the implanon in 2005. In 2006 I went back on it for 3 years. During this time the mood swings returned in a full on mode!! Did not think it was the implanon though.. Again periods were irregular- nothing for 3 months and then got them every Friday for a few months. I got removed and replaced as I reached my 3 year mark on the 30th of October. That night I read all these posts and felt so silly that I had not read them earlier. 2 weeks later (yesterday) I got it removed - 45 minutes later as it was in a difficult spot, the dr had to use the ultra sound machine to find it... I am hoping now that my moods improve and that my periods dont go nuts on me... |

Hey y'all-
I just got it put in 10 days ago. I researched it a lot, kept asking about other side effects, but I guess the thing is that only a small few get the bad ones because no one told me anything other than the bleeding even though my concerns were much more along the lines of mood and weight gain.
So my question is that for the last couple days I have had an extremely depressed mood. I am wondering if this is just my body getting used to the hormones? Does it go away after the first month or two?
I have read that there are hypothesis that it is the progesterone drop that causes PMS mood swings and postpartum depression and I keep looking at the graph on the implanon website where the progestin levels spike and then quickly fall off in the first month and then pretty much level out. I am just wondering if this is what I am reacting to and I should just wait it out a couple more weeks or if I am just sensitive to progestin drops period and I will get it taken out because BC is not worth my mood shifting this far south. |

| Hello there! Really a shame that I havent found this website before I had mine fitted last night. It's quite terrifying really to hear all your experiences about the implanon. I am just wishing now that all will be well to me. Wish me all the lucks in the world. |

| Hey everyone. Just thought Id let you all know, I had my implanon taken out today and asked my doctor why it was that a lot of women dont get their period back for a while after having got it taken out. She said it was nothing to worry about-while youre on the implanon it thins the lining of your womb which is what gets cleared out when you have a period. Hence why a lot of women dont have periods or just very light ones when theyre on it. She said once its taken out, it just takes a while for the lining to thicken again. Apparently it doesn't make a difference to you producing eggs naturally and if you are fertile you can still get pregnant. I hope this helps anyone. Im not sure why some of you are having problems with too much bleeding though. |

I went on the implanon in April08 and came back off it Dec08. Since then I've had two periods; one which lasted 3 months (Dec 08-Feb 09)and which I'd to take blood clotting tablets to stop. The second one started on 18th June and has yet to stop, so that's almost 5 months now.
I don't know how I'm alive...there is so much blood! I have to keep a spare pair of trousers/jeans/knickers in my car so I can change if needs be. I go through about 5-8 heavy duty pads a day and I'm sick of it. I've made an appointment to see a gynie but that's not until April10 (another 5 months away). At my wits end but I'm praying it's all to do with the %&*"£$^ Implanon! |

Just wondering WHY so many of you chose this method of contraception the side effects are WELL documented on the packet/internet and before ANYTHING is prescribed for me I ask LOTS of questions.I was put on the pill at 18 for irregular periods when I came off it and did not have a period for 4 years and after numerous vistits to GP's,endocrinologists and 2 Gynaes (I went for a second opinion after being fobbed off by first) I was FINALLY diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and told the only way I would every conceive would be with Clomid.
You never know what your fertility is like UNTIL you try to conceive and many of these drugs are only masking symptoms that would have occured anyhow e.g. NO periods/trouble conceiving. It is a pity that more people do NOT try less pharmaceutical forms of contraception that have high success rates e.g. diaphragms. |

Hi all
I have been on implanon since january 2009. I had constant bleeding andit is impossible to loss weight. I was on depo for years and maybe spotted once a year. So this experience is awful for me. I have gotten pill from my doc to stop the bleeding twice before...but I am ready to take this birth control out of my body. How long until my body is normal? This was the worst decision that I have every made. I am also experiencing hair loss. I am going to give my body a rest. |

| hey just responding to your question about where i got it removed! i went to radiology department in the hospital. you need to be refered by your doctor they are used to dealing with them anyways. you will be put under ultrasound to have it removed. you will get a local anasthetic! it really doesnt hurt so dont worry! your hand will be sore afterwards to touch! :) hope everything goes well for you! if your doctor doesnt know what to do i would say get another opinion. if implanon is left in for longer than the time it is supposed to be it can lead to side effects such as etopic pregnancies |

| I am on my 3rd implanon. After the first implanon i didnt get my period for a year, after the second one i went straight onto the pill but had my period 2 times in 4 weeks, this one i got my period within a week of it expiring and have had it as normal, I do not get my period whilst on implanon and have always had it re inserted the last day of my menstral cycle. I am sorry to hear that it didnt work for so many of you, but i have to say i love it and would never consider anything else. I get occasional mood swings when the rod is due to end and i cry for a couple of days when it has stopped working, but all in all i say A++++++++++++++++++++ for implanon for me... hope you ladies find something that works for you! |

Ladies after having my implanon out i didnt have a period for 3 months i was put on Progesterone tablets as the implanon had stuffed with my body. I am now on my second cycle after the tablets.
I'd say if you havent got a period for 2/3 months after it is taken out go see the doctor. |
