| Continued... I forgot to add that my Oestrogen levels are only 1.5 and apparently are suppose to be 25 or higher. Does anybody know of anyone that has been able to concieve NATURALLY and what they used to raise this level??? If there is anything... Im willing to try anything at this point as IVF is extremely expensive now that medicare wont cover any of it anymore. |

| I started on the DEPO shot 6 weeks after i had my 2nd son back in 2005. I had the usual side effects like weight gain, anxiety, depression but stayed on it because i didnt want to fall pregnant again until my sons were older. I stayed on it until 8 months ago with NO BREAKS the whole time i was on it, which the DR said was fine to do. I went off the Depo with the hope of having another child. My Gyno put me on the PILL and CLOMID in an attempt to get me ovulating without success after 3 rounds my Gyno informed me that i was NO LONGER ovulating and my ONLY hope for EVER having another baby was to use a donor egg and have IVF. I was devestated!!! Had i known that having it would screw my body up soooooo badly i would have NEVER EVER had it in the 1st place. I know have to deal with constant fatigue due to a severe hormone imbalance and hot and cold flushes, irritability, depression and severe anxiety. | I think everyone is different, I went on the depo when i was 18 (1999) and I went off it jan this yr (2009) so I was on the shot for 11yrs....So if anyone has any questions? i didnt have a problem at all with it, it kept the acne away, i never got pains, i never had periods, only when i was late getting the shot in between them few days but just spotting, AND I never gained ANY weight...Iam fit and active anyway so i think its just how active you choose to stay. Iam back on it now! I only went off it as I wanted to give my body a break, and then started on the pill 2 months ago...was the worst experience for me as i kept forgetting it and had the morning after pill 3 times in those 2 months so totally mucked my cycle, so back on the depo and couldnt be happier:) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I got my first shot about 4 weeks ago...I have been off work and have already seen a pychiatrist to get on anxiety medicine. I have withdrawn from everyone and everything. My changes in mood start with 5 days and I dont think anyone really believes what this has caused. | i just wanted to say that i have been on the shot for 3 and half years and until recentlly i thought everything was great i havent had a period since i started. about a month age i started having chest pains and figured that it was an allergen that ran in my family but my friend who has been on the shot just as long started having panic attacks and found that it could be caused by the shot she found a list of symptoms as long as my arm and i relized that things i just wrote off as just issues could be the shot i have problems with NAUSEA, NO ENERGY, OVARIAN CYSTS had one that was 5.5 inches and had to have surgery, I HAVE NEVER HAD A REAL ORGASIM, MOOD SWINGS so bad that my boyfriend of 3 and a half years is ready to leave, DEPPRESSION, RASHES, INSOMNIA, HOT FLASHES, UTI'S, CHEST PAINS AND GASTERONITESTIONAL ISSUES. i dont even have the energy to clean the... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| let me tel you all...depo is evil! I got my first and last shot in july 09. me and my dauther had tree fall on us and it nearly killedher back in august. shortly after that i started having panjc attacks. now im getting better with medical and professional help. my racing and bad thoughts go away easier, but their still there. i also had jmy 2nd baby in may so the combnation of all that messed me up. the depo shot made it all WAY WORSE then it needed to be. BE SMART AND DONT GET THAT POISON injected in your body!!! | Hi, I got my first depo shot in march of this year (2009) and i was fine the first 3 months then i got my second shot in july and i just got my other shot today. I didnt know it was the depo that was causing these side effects but i feel literally crazy and now im stuck with these symptoms for another 3 months. I feel really paranoid, like i freak out about my heart and i feel like i cant breathe sometimes. I also feel like im in a dream like state to an extent. Like im constantly out of it (I dont do drugs). Whenever i want to fall asleep my mind races. I cant drive anymore because whenever i do i feel like im gonna pass out cause i get so light headed and my heart begins to race. Its like im CONSTANTLY dealing with mini panic attacks. Im also terrified of leaving the house and i feel like im ALWAYS right . Like everyone else is wrong. Not matter what the argument is. For example even if someone is "listening" to me i feel like the aren't comprehending what im saying so i break down and start crying. Im also have very depressed/sucidal thoughts. I think i need some serious help because of this shot. I mean i was NOTHING like this before i took the shot. I was such a sweet heart. Has anyone notcied symptoms like mine? i cant describe them properly because its impossible. | I am so glad im reading more about the side effects, I have been on the Depo Provera for 2yrs now, only so I wouldnt get my periods, but only just lately i've been experiencing depression more frequently, blurred vision and I noticed im just binge eating and my belly swells up, feeling fatigued, and migraines a few times a month! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Dear friend: I had my first shot of depro provera on March 20th 2009; I kow that it is a terrible experience. It will take about 6 months for you to more less be able to feel better. | I've been on Depo for around 10 years and love it. I have had no side effects (other than below) and I have not had a period for years which is the ultimate outcome for me since I had severe pain and heavy menstrual bleeding. I'm devastated that my doctor has advised me I have to go off it for a while due to a bone mineral density scan result showing I'm in the Osteopenia range. (Reduction in bone mineral density is a standard side effect of Depo due to it sapping the calcium from your system.) | Hello, everybody. I would like to share my story with those dying to have their menses back after one shot taken mistakenly. I am 28, got married last May and my ex insisted we postpone pregnancy. So, I had one shot of Depo-Provera on 10 June 09. I suffered from amenorrhea till today. I had a history with depression and increased to the extent that I attempted suicide!!! My weight just swelled. I was 70 Kilos; I am now 85+ kilos. Ironically I go divorced but my body is still suffering from this ONE shot!!!! Its effect should be gone by 10 September 09 but still no period! And I kept swelling and swelling like a balloon, exhausted all the time, de-motivates, depressed, difficulty to get off bed, excessive sleep, binge eating, aggression, low sex drive. So, I decided to consult a gynaecologist two weeks ago and asked her to set me free from this shot and give anything to release the menses stock kept within my body. Thank God, she prescribed Cyclo-progynova pills. They are 21, composed of two hormones, one (while tablets) is concerned with the thickening of cervical mucus done by the Depo-Provera and so the menses is released and the other hormone (brown tablets) to balance the former hormone to avoid cervical cancer. After the 21 pills, one per day I was supposed to expect my period to show up. Good news are, this morning 7 October 09, I felt nauseous just like the way I used to feel before getting this stupid shot. Then, I saw few drops of blood in my underwear. I DO NOT recommend this shot to anybody. It is FATAL. |

| I am 28 and recently seperated from my husband. We were nerver able to have kids due to his infertility but something i always wanted. I have not been on contraception for 9 years and asked my doctor what is available and what he recommends. I asked about any side effects I could expect as I was concerned that an injection was a bit scary with no control. He advised me I may just have heavier periods.. I was fine with that. This is my first shot, I have bled for 7 weeks, some days so heavy I need to change my clothes twice. I have extreme abdominal cramping which causes pain all up my back aswell and I am so tired from the constant loss of blood. I struggle getting out of bed but with work and full time uni I don't have a choice. I recently met a guy and found sex was so painful I had to get him to stop. I have never had this problem before, I have always had a very sexual relationship and love it. I found this extremely disturbing, but found the next time was also just as painful. There is nothing I can do but wait until this wears off and put up with all the side effects which were not even mentioned when asked about. i would not recommend Deprovera to anyone as the lack of control you have and the length of time it takes to wear off far out weighs the benefits. |

| I have read your story and many others and I have to say, I have one of my own. A couple of years ago like 2001 I had went on the Depo, because my body rejected any other form of birth control. So we meaning the doc. and I felt this was the best for me. I did miss a dose and ended up pregnant but found out at 5 and 1/2 months that the baby boy I was carrying had to be aborted.They did many tests on me and my husband to find the cause and found nothing. So I lost my hair in chunks, my baby had spinal bifida, with no family history and also tested him after and genetically we are all fine. So like that wasnt enough, I thought nothing of it and went back on it. Later on in 2003 I missed another dose and soon found out I was again pregnant. I honestly didnt want to go through this again, very scared is what I was. But found out again I was having a baby girl. So my husband, mother, and I had many tests done to make sure everything was fine. But again found out that there was something wrong, she had gastroschisis. Which anyone who knows it is like spinal bifida, only instead of the spine not closing it was her stomach that did not close. So the doctors had no answer for me or my family besides that I just fell in the odds of this happening.This was really bad odds if u ask me. So I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Hope, thats what we named her. But she shortly did 20 days later. So I never went back on it again. I have to say before these two sick pregnancys I had two normal healthy babys that r doing great. After this last one I waited two yrs, and had two more healthy babys! | I believe this birth control is too unpredictable to stay on the market. Too many women have had horrible reactions to it. Doctors are known not to tell you the side effects which can be severe and life threatening. When I decided to go on the shot my doctor told me I may gain 5 lbs and may not have a period. It sounded perfect! I took it for 1 year because it was so wonderful not having to worry about that monthly visiter and I didn't realize at first that my problems were caused from the shot. Before the shot I was 'normal'. After being on depo for a couple months I started having extreme mood swings. I would have uncontrolled rages at the drop of a hat. They became more frequent and even physical. I had absolutely no control over them. I felt as though I were going insane. I had bouts of depression so severe I was ready to end my life. I was literally happy one moment, livid or despaired the next. I reacted to this anger and depression in ways I never had before. My boyfriend and I would fight constantly. I would get extremely angry over the stupidest things. I was paranoid all the time. It caused all kinds of problems in my life. The most severe were emotionally related, but I also lost interest in sex and intercourse started to become painful. I stopped taking it and it took at least a year for my moods to get better. I still (3 years later) have more mood swings than I idid prior to the shot. I wonder if they will ever return to normal. I still have unexplained pain during intercourse that comes and goes. My memory is terrible now and I find it hard to retain things I had no problem with in the past. When I quit taking it and told my doctor why, he nodded and said it is a side effect that is fairly common. Funny how they leave that out when recommending it. |

| I know how most of you girls feel about depo. I used it for 9 months about 6 years ago and I haven't been the same since. I didn't have any bone related issues thank god, but I do have extreme hormone problems now. I have a request to any girls who want to help me with getting a formal investigation performed on the reproductive and long term effects of Depo Provera, please send me your horror stories, including infertility claims, at uniqueedm@hotmail.com. Another thing I am interested in, to the girls who are having reproductive problems, go visit your family doctor and order him to test your PROGESTERONE levels. I have found that the problems I have are caused by high Progesterone (which is what the depo shot is!). The best day to get this blood test done is on day 3 (the third day after you start your period) your progesterone levels should be very low and this makes the test easier to read and compare to normal values. If you progesterone on day 3 of your cycle is high, please let me know so I can collect this information as well and use it to help get this investigation performed. You do not have to include any personally identifying information in the emails. | I used Depo for 9 years, best thing since sliced bread for me. Prior to Depo I had years of frustration with weight gain and thrush while using 3 different oral contraceptive pills. Frustratingly, in my early twenties with 3 years study yet to go at uni I was refused my first request to use Depo by a male doctor who thought I might want to get pregnant within the next 2 years!! Depo got rid of my period so I continued to use it despite my husband offering to have a vasectomy. I only stopped using Depo after successfully seeking a LAVH (laparascopically assisted hyster ectomy), also fabulously successful (3 tiny finger-width scars). Had I not managed to circumnavigate two male doctors who thought I should have to put up with a lifetime of periods despite having no interest in reproduction, I'd still be using Depo. | IT WORKS FOR ME!!! I have been on Depo since I had my first child 9yrs ago - I went off it to have my second child (conception took 9 mnths) and then continued using it. I have had NONE of the side effects mentioned by others: no weight gain (although I am very active), no aches pains, headaches, no bleeding. A lot of the side effects mentioned are those that can occur with the use of any contraception pill or method. I write this not to dispute anyone elses experience but only note that not everyone has a negative experience on depo. From reading alot of the posts - clearly it is not for everyone - but it is the right thing for my body and I guess it is up to the individual whether it is worth risking the side effects while trying it out. |
