Hello there! Really a shame that I havent found this website before I had mine fitted last night. It's quite terrifying really to hear all your experiences about the implanon. I am just wishing now that all will be well to me. Wish me all the lucks in the world.

Re:Implanon - side effects during Reply to this message
Hey everyone. Just thought Id let you all know, I had my implanon taken out today and asked my doctor why it was that a lot of women dont get their period back for a while after having got it taken out. She said it was nothing to worry about-while youre on the implanon it thins the lining of your womb which is what gets cleared out when you have a period. Hence why a lot of women dont have periods or just very light ones when theyre on it. She said once its taken out, it just takes a while for the lining to thicken again. Apparently it doesn't make a difference to you producing eggs naturally and if you are fertile you can still get pregnant. I hope this helps anyone. Im not sure why some of you are having problems with too much bleeding though.

Re:Implanon - side effects during Reply to this message
I went on the implanon in April08 and came back off it Dec08. Since then I've had two periods; one which lasted 3 months (Dec 08-Feb 09)and which I'd to take blood clotting tablets to stop. The second one started on 18th June and has yet to stop, so that's almost 5 months now.
I don't know how I'm alive...there is so much blood! I have to keep a spare pair of trousers/jeans/knickers in my car so I can change if needs be. I go through about 5-8 heavy duty pads a day and I'm sick of it. I've made an appointment to see a gynie but that's not until April10 (another 5 months away). At my wits end but I'm praying it's all to do with the %&*"£$^ Implanon!

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Just wondering WHY so many of you chose this method of contraception the side effects are WELL documented on the packet/internet and before ANYTHING is prescribed for me I ask LOTS of questions.I was put on the pill at 18 for irregular periods when I came off it and did not have a period for 4 years and after numerous vistits to GP's,endocrinologists and 2 Gynaes (I went for a second opinion after being fobbed off by first) I was FINALLY diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and told the only way I would every conceive would be with Clomid.
You never know what your fertility is like UNTIL you try to conceive and many of these drugs are only masking symptoms that would have occured anyhow e.g. NO periods/trouble conceiving. It is a pity that more people do NOT try less pharmaceutical forms of contraception that have high success rates e.g. diaphragms.

Hi all
I have been on implanon since january 2009. I had constant bleeding andit is impossible to loss weight. I was on depo for years and maybe spotted once a year. So this experience is awful for me. I have gotten pill from my doc to stop the bleeding twice before...but I am ready to take this birth control out of my body. How long until my body is normal? This was the worst decision that I have every made. I am also experiencing hair loss. I am going to give my body a rest.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
hey just responding to your question about where i got it removed! i went to radiology department in the hospital. you need to be refered by your doctor they are used to dealing with them anyways. you will be put under ultrasound to have it removed. you will get a local anasthetic! it really doesnt hurt so dont worry! your hand will be sore afterwards to touch! :) hope everything goes well for you! if your doctor doesnt know what to do i would say get another opinion. if implanon is left in for longer than the time it is supposed to be it can lead to side effects such as etopic pregnancies

I am on my 3rd implanon. After the first implanon i didnt get my period for a year, after the second one i went straight onto the pill but had my period 2 times in 4 weeks, this one i got my period within a week of it expiring and have had it as normal, I do not get my period whilst on implanon and have always had it re inserted the last day of my menstral cycle. I am sorry to hear that it didnt work for so many of you, but i have to say i love it and would never consider anything else. I get occasional mood swings when the rod is due to end and i cry for a couple of days when it has stopped working, but all in all i say A++++++++++++++++++++ for implanon for me... hope you ladies find something that works for you!

Ladies after having my implanon out i didnt have a period for 3 months i was put on Progesterone tablets as the implanon had stuffed with my body. I am now on my second cycle after the tablets.
I'd say if you havent got a period for 2/3 months after it is taken out go see the doctor.

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
well im finally getting back to ye! after finding out that i had to go to hospital to get my implanon remoed due to it being too far deep behind the muscle. i made an appointment with radiology. the first thing the doctor said was that 9/10 times they can remove it in hospital under general anastethic. otherwise i would have to go to teathre. luckily mine was easily enough removes. i got ultra sound on my arm to find it. i was then given an anastethic and it was removed. i didnt feel anything after the injection and i didnt watch! if i knew it was going to be this much trouble i would hvae never gotten it in! im so happy im free from this now! i feel sooo much better. happier, more energy . im not feeling hungry or anything! i would not recommend getting this in!!

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi, I had implanon put in roughly six weeks after I had my son, I had it in ywo before the adverse affects started, they got progressivly worse I started having uncontrolable mood swings violent out bursts as well as heavy bleeding I had it taken out a week ago. I litteraly forced my doctor to take it out for these reasons. My mood and emotions are now 100% better although im goung on my third week of bleeding. If i were you I would sit him down and tell him and if he doesnt listen go somewhere that will, I almost had too they legally have to take it out if thats what you want if you have the insurace to pay for it. I hope for the best for you and hope ive helped.

No this is not normal. I just had mine removed for that fact but they got to be the size of golf balls. I had a very difficult removal after having it 2 years. But that is something that needs to be discussed with your doctor.

Re:Implanon - effects during Reply to this message
I had my implanon in for 9 months, the entire time i had really bad side affects. Constent bleeding, cramps. It took me a while to get a doctor to agree to take it out. Anyway, its out now and we were TTC and thought we had as I'd missed my period for almost three months. I've heard many stories of this happening straight away? Is this possible so soon after such a systamatic stuff up of hormones in my body to occur soon?

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
After reading you comment you seem to have a few of the same side affect as me

Iv had the inplant in for about 2years iwas ok on it for the first year

I think iv had about 6-9 proper periods in the 2 years!! im not complainin

Now im booked in to talk about having it removed.

For these reasons im tired all the time,im depressed, very aggresive(rang my doctor he said i should go to anger mangment)im having it removed for these reasons. headaces, weight gain, itchy boobs, stomach pain and iv even had 3 urine tract infection(i have never had this befor!!) Also im not happy as i have to wait 3weeks to have it removed!!
If i was told of these side affect i would of never had had it put in! I feel like a test RAT. The fact is the doctors that put these in dont realy know all of the side affect that they can course.
i do have a question for any 1 who can answer!! how long to when i sholud feel normal when it out? and when will i be able to get preggers?

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Hi,
I had my first period when I was 14 and it lasted for 35 days until the doctor gave me some medication to stop it. I was then put straight on the pill to regulate my periods. I was on the pill for 6 years until I decided to switch to implanon. I have been on it for 2 years and have recently decided to have it taken out and give my body a break and allow it to work naturally. I have an appointment with the doctor this week to ask them to take it out. I was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation to me? Im worried that because my body has never had to do things on its own, it wont work properly. Does anyone know what is normal after coming off contraception???

i had my implanon fitted last year following the birth of our youngest child. i loved the fact that i didnt have to think about contraception, however the side effects were awful : constant bleeding, acne which was painful, and weight gain. im having it removed next week and cant wait!
Im just a bit worried about what to expect after its removed?

Same here. I got mine out sometime in August because of the same side effects (i gained about 30 lbs in 5 months and was loosing my hair) In addition to constant spotting/periods. But now its been since August and I haven't had any period? My Dr. (in September) said it was about normal but now its late October. What the hell?

Re:Implanon - side effects after removal Reply to this message
Ladies,
I was on the depo provera for 3 yrs off and on until last year i discovered the implanon. I had it inserted the 24th of december 2009. I hadn't experienced a period for over year because of the depo and since i transitioned to the implanon i thought it was fine to continue to not have a period. Now it is october 11th 2009 almost 10 months after having the implanon inserted and i passed 2 blood clots about nickel size.. they were dark in color but wondering if this is normal.. I am setting up an appointment for this week but any quicker responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
woman in desperate need!!
