You are not being silly! You have had a traumatic experience and you have a right to feel upset about this. I definitely agree, you should report the doctor.
I will only see females myself for these things, but I've heard that a lot of women gynos are worse than men. Don't give up, as this is a really important issue in your personal health care. Find another gyno to see and when you go for the first appointment, explain what happened. You do not have to have an exam if you don't want one. If you don't feel comfortable with them, then don't go back.
As for humblegenius_fp, you are an ass! How dare you say she is being silly? Being traumatised is being traumatised, no matter how it happens. Things like this happen every day and women don't speak up about it for fear of shame or ridicule - just like you are doing. |

Just had my first ever visit with the Gynaecologist, and I'm never going back! The internal exam hurt badly, and I had to ask twice to get her to stop, so finally she said 'We'll stop now, you're too tight'.
I was asking about getting an endometrial ablation done because I want my heavy periods to stop (had them for years, housebound when they're happening, now over 30, sick of the whole mess, don't want kids, researched thoroughly about the endo ablat. made sure of my decision, got a gyno referal). She said 'no chance, and no one with ethics will do it either'.
So, I had a painful exam, she won't get what I wanted done, and she gave me a referal to have a internal ultrasound (which I said I don't want, but she said 'get it done, use a woman technician if you're nervous'. I threw the referal in the bin) and she wants to change the pill I'm on for another one when I DON'T WANT TO BE ON THE PILL ANYMORE!.
I feel violated, like I've been raped. I'm shocked, shaking and have spent most of the day crying. I'm never going back (despite family saying I'm silly, and these things women just have to put up with) and I won't see any other Gyno either - EVER.
Anyone else had this experience? |
