| I was taking the shot years ago and did not relate it to the mental illness I was having after having my child. I became aggressive and incredibly depressed.I stopped the shot due to sexual inactivity. I took it again later on still not realizing the effects it had on me. I stopped very shortly afterward since my new partner couldn't get me pregnant. Now I know the monster is deprovera. I have a new boyfriend and he makes me incredibly happy. I was at the best period in my life. I took the shot after being with him. A week later the happiness ended while nothing in my relationship has changed. He looks at me with such sad eyes and worry. I feel like someone took and ink dropper and dropped black ink into my bright white world. I have no enjoyment for anything I love. Even at my most depressed I could always find comfort in my music and my man. Life is empty. I am lucky my boyfriend is understanding and can wait till the shot leaves me because I'd lose the most loving, caring and understanding man I have ever had the pleasure of being with. Then my sunshine would really be gone. I have scheduled a doctors appointment this week. The feeling are getting progressively worse. I am scared I may become suicidal. I can barely move around. I don't want to do anything really. I just wish it would all go away and my life would return to it's natural balance. I don't want to cry anymore. |

Hello fellow Depo prevera victims! My name is Michele and I am a 35 year old female that only did 2 cycles of Depo and am suffering from thyroid tumor, depression, anxiety, muscle aches and pains "everywhere"...especially my back and neck. I literally feel like all my energy has been sucked out of me. I have a seriously lowered immune system and suceptible to all kind of germs and bacterias. I have had many Urinary Track infections, Sinus Infections and now upper respiratory infection. Although everyone's days are numbered I feel like mine have been shortended incredibly by taking this shot. I was otherwise...ok. All I can say is in my heart I believe this shot is toxic and anything that can cause the natural flow of your body to stop (like your menstral cycle) cannot be good for you. Let your body go through it's natural process and don't try to interfere with it because it could very well cost you your life. I had to quit my job, going through incredible medical expenses due to no health insurance to try to get better somehow and really bewildered if I have screwed up with my hormones so much that I left myself succeptible to a thyroid tumor/possibly malignant or Lymphoma. I am worried and I think you should be too. From the bottom of my heart...think very carefully before taking this potent "what I believe to be" toxin...it's just NOT WORTH IT. If you don't want to take my word for it...Pray and Hope that God speaks to you about it and gives you wisdom.
Regretfully intoxicated with artifical hormones,
Michele from Miami |

| I took the Depo-provera shot once in May of 2005, only once, I started bleeding profusely hours after I took it, I gained 12 pounds in less than 3 weeks! I corrected this problem through trial and error(2 months on ortho micronor 2005-August to October, 2 months on ortho novum October 2005-December 2005 and 6 months on no form of birth control whatsoever because my clinic initially refused to give me Ortho Tri-Cyclen (which I knew worked for me) because of the cost), I finally managed to persuade my local clinic to give me Tri-Cyclen and took it from June 2006 to October 2006, I had a regular period on November 17th and I found out on December 26, 2007 that I was pregnant after stopping the pills. On September 6, 2007 I delivered my second Baby, a healthy Baby Boy! |

Had this years ago - ONCE ONLY !
DP left me bleeding pretty much constantly, which in turn left me moody, constantly cold, anaemic, and depressed - NEVER would I recommend this to ANYONE.
My doctor could not have cared less - "Oh, so it doesn't work for you?" - My God - how could they keep giving this to people ????"
exactly the same reaction for me and one of my girlfriends.
never ever again and would warn others to avoid!!! |

| Yes I have the same problems as you do. I also took it for about 2.5yrs. I gained about 40 pounds from it and now it is extremely almost impossible to lose weight. I actually was stopped by my doctor from getting another shot. She told me that the FDA linked longterm use to Bone Marrow Denisty Loss. So I was switched to the pill but I soon stopped taking those as well. After about 3 months of stopping the shot, I started to get these " *** s" on my underarms and on my breasts. They would go away and come back. At first I really didn't pay much attention to it. Now 2yrs later they are still here and much worser. They have left scars, and I will usually have about 3-4 under each arm and about 1-2 on each breasts. Sometimes I get knots in my breast tissue for weeks and then they will go away. I have no insurance and I am actually really scared and ashamed of them. Thankfully I have a very caring and loving husband, but I still don't like him to see my top . So, I really have no idea where to turn for help. |

| You have basically laid out what is wrong with me. I started the Depo Shot when I was 15 and stopped (on doctors orders) when I was 17(almost 18). Originally I gave my doctor my full med. history. Which includes high risk of breast cancer among other things. Everything seemed fine for the most part while on it. I did experience excessive weight gain about 30-40 pounds over the first 6 months. Then it kind of leveled out, but I still contuined gained weight un-normally. Anyhow I went to get my Depo Shot and the doctor said I couldn't take it anymore. She said the FDA said it caused Bone Marrow Density Loss after extended use. So I switched to the pills then just stop eventually taken any type of birth control. About a year ago age 19, I started getting cysts and skin rashes on my underarms and breasts. Some of the cysts are large and really painful. I never experienced these before in my life, not even the smallest pimple. Then also my husband and I have been together since I was 13, married at 18. We have tried to have a baby but it is impossible. The Depo had caused many problems in my life. And I don't know how to fix myself. What do I do? I have no insurance and the cysts seem to get worse as they are not treated. |

| I recently came off Depo after roughly 10 years! I had been diagnosed with POTS, a heart problem which makes your blood pressure sky rocket & immediatly drop causing u to pass-out. I've seen numerous docs who insisted I be put on heart meds to controll this. Thankfully, I never took them as prescribed. I truly believe Depo was the culprit. Ever since I have come off I havent had the 1st episode. Also, I have stopped having migranes, stopped sweating like a grown man, and my size A boobs have actually turned into a large B - small C. I believe that when I started taking this drug (at age 14) I hadnt completly went through puberty. Has anyone else been diagnosed with POTS, or had breast enlargement, due to or since the stopping of depo? I'd really like to find out about the breasts, it was amazing how quickly they started to grow! |

| Hello everyone, I am writing because my daughter had the depo shot in mid Jan. and the day after started getting sick and has been experiencing problems ever since. The doctors keep saying it has nothing to do with the shot but I tend to disagree. I see people have been experiencing the dizziness, headaches and moodiness. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a lot of naseau and vomitting. She has been having trouble with keeping anything down and since been put on nexium for acid reflux. She has been through multiple tests for her pancreas, gallbladder, stomach etc. only for doctors to say nothing is wrong and they keep insisting it has nothing to do with this shot. She has always been a pretty healthy person and the day after taking this shot is when it all started. I would like to know if any of you specifically have had the naseau and vomiting almost consistently. It scares me not knowing what is happening with her. Also is there anyway that she can have the hormone levels in her system checked to confirm that it is the depo shot causing all of this. Thanks Donna |

| Hi there I have been on depo for 13 years now. I am having a tubal next month so I am discontinuing the shot in a few weeks. How has your experience been coming off depo? I have suffered from severe migraines for years and am praying that once stopping they will level out. |

Hi I am coming off of depo provera (13 years of use) I was curious to see how you are doing since stopping the shot. I am scheduled for a tubal in April, so this is the reason for discontinuing depo. Over the years I have suffered from serious migraines and similar side effects. Hoping all will subside once the shot clears the system. Will you tell me a little about your situation.

| I was on Depo Provera for 10 years before I had a tubiligation back in April 2007. I had never had a period once in those 10 years but one month after stopping the injection, I began to bleed and havent stopped since. It has been a 10 month period with no signs of letting up anytime soon. I have been to the doctor for help and he has told me this is normal and not to worry about it. Easy for him to say. I have also been suffering from extreme lower backpain and back weakness for about a year that resulted in a ruptured disc and chronic sciatica - which I am seeing a surgeon about next month. After doing some research I have found that it was the Depo injection that caused the weakness in my back resulting in my injury. |

| I have just has my 1st baby 4.5 months ago ...... I cant take the pill because the hormones in it makes me mentally crazy so i was looking for an alternative after i had bub that wouldn't make me put on weight or mess with my head. My doc suggested this and i had one shot 3 months ago .... BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! About 3 years ago i was diagnosed with an axiety disorder that had sorted itself out and before taking depo i had no anxiety or depression and was the happiest id ever been. Even after having bub i was still extrememly happy, with no post natal depression feelings. The depo made me crazier then the pill. I started to get anxiety attacks again, i started to wonder if i loved my lil boy, i wanted to break up with my parter cos my moods were so up and down i didnt no if i loved him, i put on 5kg in 3 months, my hair is falling out and i have bald patches, i had chest pains that made me think i was having a heart attack (im 21 and healthy and fit!), i had a period for 2 weeks straight and have been spotting ever since, my stomach is so sore and bloated all the time i feel sick, i get migranes once a week and my libido is none existent. My relationship could fall apart from this if i didnt have a super supportive parter. I had no idea what was doing this to me until i looked it up on the net a day before i was due for my next shot and its the best thng i did. THIS SHOT IS LIFE RUINING, IT SHOULD DFINATLY BE BANNED! I am now thinking of getting a iud, any suggestions i would really appreciate????? And also fromonly 1 shot does anyone know how long it will take til its out of my system? I feel like its killing me inside! |

| No. not them but bleeding. enough to be a right pain. but now I'm really scared. I went on it once before for 1 shot which i did myself and I bled & I figured I did it wrong, then I went celibate so I didn't take anything. I had a shot last month and a doctor did it and it's been exactly the same. |

| I have three girls. My second baby was a depo baby and to this day my doctor will deny it. My last baby was an I U D baby. So I tried the depo shot once again after having my last baby and now I am having panic attacks, hair loss zero sex drive and seizures I believe that all this is from that depo shot and I am trying to prove it so I can take this company to court. |

Well I think I am alone in all this because I just stopped the Depo Provera shot 11-22-2007 and I had been getting the shot every 12 weeks for the past 10 years... Yes 10 years ladies! It was 03-1998 is when I received my first Depo shot! Ladies this shot is NOT good at all! The past 10 years of my life have been HELL and my pain is terrible not taking the Depo Shot ANYMORE! My hair loss, my insomnia, my constant pain EVERYWHERE! Every doctor said I was fine! I thankfully stopped the Depo Shot and I am now going through horrible withdrawals and I feel like I just want to crawl in a hole and die! My life will never be the same again! In 2006 I went through a terrible detox from pain medications and it was just miserable! I can go on and on but it just doesn't seem to help! 10 years of Depo and every doctor said I was fine! Well I am not and I hate this and I have nobody as far as professional to help me through this.. I am scared and terrified that my body will just shut down! I take Tylenol PM's like candy for sleep and Tylenol Regular every 6 hours because of my pain! I feel so very lost! Someone out there please help me because I think I am the only woman who has been on the Depo for 10 years! My life is horrible! I don't like leaving my house anymore! I can't keep a steady job! I am just feeling like a loss cause!
Update 02/19/2008 - No more drugs or pain killers! Did a GNC 7 Day Cleanse and I believe that helped my body get rid of toxins! As far as the Depo withdrawals everything is still the same. I am still feeling horrible! HELP! |

I came across this and figured out what was wrong with brittany spears, Its another case of adverse reaction to depo lolSinger Britney Spears sparingly took birth control tablets because they made her gain weight, according to reports.
The 'Toxic' singer - who reportedly suffered a miscarriage at the beginning of the year - was receiving Depo Provera injections, but switched to tablets after piling on the pounds.
But Spears continues to forget to take the contraceptives, leaving her vulnerable to pregnancy.

| I also while taking the shot had hair loss, facial hair growth, weight gain, mood swings, loss of labito(still), brown patches aon my breasts, also I had a miscarrage after I stopped. It was horrible. 6 years later, I have a 4 year old daughter and she has a codition called Vaginal Fusion, it is treatable, hopefully this wasn't caused by the shot. My periods are still very heavy. I had another miscarriage where I was pregnant with twins Oct 07. Please everyone out there DO NOT TAKE THE SHOT!!! |

I wasm diagnosed with Uterine Dysf Bleeding, I had to go in hospital for 4 days an rec Estrogen by I.V.It worked. I bled for about 6 months. I did the Iron shots, my blood pressure went down to 65/43. I had to be carried into the hospital. Do not take no for an answer. I didn't and I got results. I hope this helps. |
