| I have just had my implant out for the first time in 8 1/2 years. I have been reassured by my doctor that it will be out of my system with in 24hours of having it out. After reading every ones statements , im really worried that i wont be able to fall pregnant. out of every one here i have had it in the longest. If you are all having problems, does that mean i will never be able to conceive ? I will Keep you all posted ~ i got it removed on the 25th August 2009 this is one week , i still havent had a period yet either. Im hoping thats a great sign. |

| this might not be due to the implanon, my mother used the pill for years, and when she came off it it took her a while to get pregnant. im surprised you have not had a period though, go to your gp, maybe have a smear. but it has taken other couples 18 months to concieve. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| HEY!!! i got my implanon out about 2 weeks ago.. i had no problems for 5 days but all of a sudden i had cramping and pressure in my lower abdomen like i was going to have my period but nothing i have had the same pressure for 7 days but no period.. | hey there.. I had my implanon removed on the 26th of May i was due my period on the 2nd of June well if i had of still had the implanon in i was due on that day. anyway a week passed and i started gettin tender boobs so i did a pregnancy test andit was positive so i got my doc to confirm it and yes i am pregnant.. so i hope this helps. i hadn gotten a period or anything i obviously got caught straight away.. |

| i was on the pill for the longest time then decided to get the implamon put in i had it for about 4-6months then had it taken out cuz me and my fiance are trying to get pregnant. ive had the implamon out for over 6months and ive still not gotten a period and cant get pregnant and the birthcontrol centers that put them in keep telling me to give it time but they told me when i got it taken out that i could get pregnant the next day after its taken out so i dont understand whats going on. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| i have had implanon in 4 2 years now. b4 that was on depo injection 4 a year and the pill before that. im getting it took out next week 2 try 4 a baby but im worried that im infertile because of variation of contraception. i have also had chlamidia 3 times from cheating ex partners. please give me advice. so worried hayley xx |

| I should maybe mention that I have a three year old son and we wanted another baby basically last year, so as to not have such a major age gap...but unfortunatly it is not going to be. I'm also not that old yet either ;-) (32 to be fully honest), hence although fertility decreases with age, the dramatic drop only happens once you hit 35. I also should you ladies know that in Germany the manufacturer puts a disclaimer on the leaflet that comes with implanon, stating that amenorhea is a common side effect. this disclaimer is nowhere to be found on the Australian leaflet, however all the other side effects such as weight gain, moodiness, no libido etc are on it. Also it turns out that the German obstetricians/Gynos seem to be ahead of our guys here. I have spoken to three different ones in the past week and all three have independently confirmed that it is widely known that implanon has as a sideeffect amenorhea which can last between 3 to 33 months! now taking a normal distribution, one would expect of those women being unlucky enough the average woman would experience about 18 months of amenorhea. now to be fair, amenorhea is a known side effect of the pill too, however I chequed on two pill leaflets and both mention this side effect and state if amenorhea takes longer than 2-3 months the woman needs to consult a dr. anyway...you can imagine that I'm not only deeply dissapointed that my life plans have been altered, but I'm also extremely angry at both the obstetrician who convinced me to use this stuff although he did not provide me with all the info I needed to take an informed decision and Organon (the manufacturer) which conviniently does not mention any of these possible side effects. one thing is for sure, Implanon will NEVER get a ringing endorsement from me. :-( | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Well ladies its official: I'm having fertility treatments to reverse the effect of Implanon! I'm absolutely gutted and can't believe this is happening to me, who always thought that I was ohhh so fertile...we used to joke that I only needed to look at my husband and would get preggers. I have undergone massive examinations (blood, ultrasound you name it) at the university clinic Freiburg in Germany. Why Germany you might ask...well they are at the forefront of research regarding the long term impact of Implanon on fertility and I'm being looked after the top German endocrinologist and fertility specialist there and now also part of his long-term independent study on th impact of implanon on fertility. well, even if I am a one in a million case, it is very real to me and no woman can predict if it will not happen to her at some stage. I have writen to Organon (the manufacturer of implanon) to get a 'please explain' however they have not come back to me yet....so let's see. There needs to be full disclosure to women about all the risks, even if these risks are only minute. | It does not always work that way! I have my implanon taken out on the 3rd of September 2005 (over 12 months ago). I went to the doctor yesterday because i didnt have a period, then amazingly i got a period at the doctor surgery!!!! Any way, i asked the doctor why i haven't had my period for so long and she said that Implanon can cause temporary infertility and can take up to 3 years to fully gain a normal menstrual cycle, depending on how long it is in for!!! Best of luck conceiving, my suggestion would be is go to your doctor and talk to them and tell them you are trying to conceive, because i never knew, but there is a injection they can give you to increase fertilty etc. Tahlia |

| Hi i just recently had my implant out and i am trying for a baby but i wasnt told what u were by ur dr i wasnt told much to be honest but i have been trying to find out stuff on the net, i was told that it is ment to be out ur system within 24hours and you are ment to ovulate 3weeks after it is removed. does this help? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| i was told by my docotr that once your implnon is removed, you are EVEN MORE fertile after 24 hours of its removal than what you were before you had it put in, and the chances of falling pregnant during the first month with a multiple birth is very high.... has anyone else heard this??? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| i am thinking of taking my implant out as well!! I have had an implant in for the last 5 years (on my second one now) We have already got two kids but my husband and i are thinking about having another baby very soon also!! | Hi, I recently took my implanon out too, actually about 5-6 weeks ago, and had the same period too, started light (i thought i was pregnant already because it was like my first time i was pregnant) then got really heavy and just doesn't seem to stop, I think it's gone, then bam, it's back! I'm so worried about it, because on the other implanon thread, i think it's called symptoms after implanon, there are soooooo many people who have wierd cycles. But, I'm thinking, if I already have my period, that's a good thing, because that's what the girl's who can't get pregnant are saying is wrong, they haven't got there period back. My cousin also had implanon, and got pregnant soon after she had it out, i think i'm gonna ask her what it was like for her. Good luck |
