Re:Implanon removal & Miscarriage Reply to this message
sorry to hear these stories of loss. i have a similar one. had implanon implanted and my periods were regular however i was bleeding for 2 weeks, passing huge blood clots. I eventually removed the implant about 8 months ago. i fell pregnant about 2 months ago, and lost it at about 5 weeks. i got pregnant the following month and miscarried again, this time at 6 weeks. I have two previous children and the pregnancies were normal and uncomplicated. i can fall easy, it is just carrying them now that i'm having difficulties with. i had an ultrasound today to check my uterus and it seems to be healthy. i'm going to see the gyney tomorrow and i'm gonna ask the questions. this seems too strange to me!!

Hi, i had the implant out around March after 3 years of having it in, fell pregnant early July, which is when we decided to try, so thought it was a good sign I fell straight away. But then i miscarried this week.Am so gutted, but the more you read about this, the more connection there seems to be with Implants. It may not happen to everyone, but that doesnt mean theres no connection for the ones it does happen to.

If you read up on the implanon , you'll see that it allows a foetus to be made . It makes the lining of the womb too thin for a baby to cling to . So really , you could be miscarrying every month . When you have implanon removed you should give your womb a chance to get back to normal before trying for a baby .

your welcome and l'm sorry for your loss l know nothing about the Implanon but l do know how disstressing miscarriage can be l don't know if the implant had anything to do with your miscarriage either way there is nothing you can do now so allow yourself time to greive your loss.. then when you feel up to it emotionally try again... l wish you the best

Sorry for your loss but you can't blame the miscarriage on the implant .. there are ALOT of ladies that do fall preg & don't miscarry .. Its just something that happens. Isn't it natures way of saying things are not right with the baby? I don't believe it was the implant that caused it at all ... Do you have a medical condition? You can not blame the implant removal.

I have only ever known two people personally to have had the Implanon inmplants, and both of then had miscarriages on the first pregnancy after its removal. One had gotten pregnant not long after removal and lost the baby at 10 weeks, the other got pregnant close to a year later and lost it at 10 weeks. Sounds very odd to me. The first went on to have 2 more babies, but the other who lost hers about 6 months ago hasnt gotten pregnant again yet.

Oh 'mary_poppins', I'm so sorry. Are you ok? Did you go to the doctor about it and what did they say? I doubt it was b/c of Imp. My Doctor told me I could fall pg in the first few weeks of having it out before even getting my period. And some women have etc. Miscarriages are very common.
The only thing I've heard regarding Imp, is that if you leave it in your arm after it's expiry, it can result in an etopic pregnancy - where the fertilised egg doesn't move down from the folopian tube into the uterous. I have never heard of Imp being the cause of a misscarriage after removal. Misscarriages happen ALL the time, but most women don't even know they misscarry b/c it happens so early.
I hope you are alright emotionally. Take care, Shana

Implanon removal & Miscarriage Reply to this message
Hi I had my Implanon removed Dec 5th 2006, got my period Dec 6th. I fell pregnant straigt away. I started bleeding this week - found out today it was a miscarriage. Alot of people I've spoken to said it was because of the Implanon because I didnt give it time to get out of my system. Has any one else experienced this???
