| Hey guys, I was on estelle for 2 years during that time my acne cleared up so well and I was really really happy with how it was going. About 6months ago I missed some tablets and when I went to my Dr. concerned about a month long period he told me that my body was no longer reacting to the medication. Since then I went on Microgynon50 and that doesn't help with my acne, I decided at the start that I didn't need it because my face had been so good after years of no problems. Now within the last 2 months my acne has come back and it is starting to spread down my chest and back just like it did when my acne first got bad. I'm going to go and see the Dr.'s again and hopefully there is another pill that has another active ingredient which my body will respond to. It just makes you feel so bad because my face was all better... I just don't want to be like this again. =D xoxo |

| I was on Estelle and my face got even worse and I had depression for 2 weeks. My doctor said that wasn't supposed to happen and sent me to a dermatologist who prescribed me Yasmin and antibiotics. Although my skin isn't perfect, it is so much better. | Hi, Ive been on estelle since I was 14 (and I am now 22). It definitly helped with my acne but it never fully cleared up. I recently went to the doctor as I have NEVER had a sex drive and thought it could be due to the pill. We did blood tests and the doctor said it was probably due to estelle. She has switched me to Yasmin, and thinks that my sex drive will improve and should see the same benefits with skin (and maybe some weight-loss). Anyone out there reading this and feels like they will never be able to control acne... TRY PROACTIVE!! It is worth every penny. I had tried everything, 3 types of antibiotics, 2 courses of roacutane, birth control, and it never cleared up. After only 3 months of using proactive my skin was so flawless that people actually comment on it now in a positive way. Dont even need the birth control for skin now really. If you have not tried proactive you should- its actually changed my life. |

| Hey Im in my 4th month of Yasmin since being on it i found my skin got quite bad but is beginning to improve slightly, im moody and loosing so much hair its crazy, my partner has noticed this as i hair hair everywhere. These side effects contributed with the fact my last script cost $72 ( i kid you not) has me looking for something better |

| Hi there ladies, I was on Microgynon 20 ED pill for about 6 to 7 years, I had absolutely no problems with it what so ever until the last 12months of taking it. No weight gain, break out in pimples, mood swings or headaches. Into the last year of taking Microgynon 20 ED I started to develope acne on my face and back nothing like Ive ever had before and a mid cycle bleeding (nothing to major but enough to annoy you!) I saw my Dr and he suggested that I try a new pill because my hormones and everything have abviously changed since I was 15 years old. I am now 24, I have tried a couple of different pills to improve my acne as it has not settled and none have worked. I need to be on a pill as my period is extremely heavy and I lose alot of blood and can last from anywhere between 7-14 days and also suffer from extreme miagraines. My Dr suggeseted that I try Estelle as it is good for the treatment of acne. I am now into my 3 month of using it and I have suffered from horrible side effects such as weight gain, fluid retention, increase in appetite, mood swings, lack of energy and depression and not to mention my skin has not yet got any better! I am extremely active person, gym junky for the past 2.5 years and into body building. My diet is perfect and never used to eat junk food. But since taking this pill I have no motivation and have no drive to want to do anything. Since noticing the fluid retention and weight gain it has made me more depressed as I feel all my time and energy I have put into my training has been a waste of time! Im going back to my Dr to discuss this problem and hopefully he has a solution. I am willing to try Yasmin if any one thinks it will help. But If it doesnt I am going to go off the pill for good! If any one has any thoughts or advice please let me know :( |

| It took a long time but Estelle really worked on my skin. I didn't have any side effects either. My friend however was on Estelle and suffered pretty bad side effects,like nausea and headaches, she swears by Diane35 for acne clearup. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I've been on Yasmin for 12 months and have just switched to Estelle b/c Yasmin made my periods much WORSE. However, once Yasmin started to work on my skin (about 6 months) it was really good at clearing up my acne. I have just started my pack of Estelle and have taken three active tablets, but I'm already experiencing major heart palpitations and anxiety. but it is exam time....so I'm going to stick with it until the end of the month. oh and if you've got private healthcare you may be able to claim a rebate on Yasmin. |

| I am on Yasmin at the moment and have had similar side effects to you so I've decided that I'm going to stop taking it as of tomorrow. | I have been on Estelle and suffered some nasty side effects. If you are trying to get rid of acne I suggest you should try Aldactone combined with a cheap pill such as Levlen ED as you wont get the nasty side effects such as bloating etc. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hi, I am currently on Estelle, I have been for about 4 months now, and I am only just staring to notice a difference in my skin. I am also using pro active as well. I dont know if the proactive has helped or not, but I actually dont mind it. I have never heard of Yasmin before , but Estelle seems to finally be working for me (although the changes are very gradual it seems) At the start my apetite did increase but then it calmed down and it is back to normal. I agree that you do feel a bit flat on it, but nothing too major. I would rather have clear skin actually as it makes you feel heaps better about yourself! Around my periods I get really cranky, but it only lasts two days prior and then Im fine again. hope this helps also :) |

| Hey, I have taken Diane/Estelle for almost 4 years. I have to admit it really works on my skin, but it takes time. Cant really see the changes within months, probably after 6 months. I used to have lots of acnes on my face, but my skin is really wonderful now, got lots of compliment coz it looks so healthy and glowing. Not only that, I never got period cramps anymore and noticeably shorter period. I used to have almost 2 weeks of period and very painful cramps. That's why I am really happy on how Diane really works on my body. However, there's also the downside parts. My boyfriend of 6 years thinks I always get cranky and moody near the period. And yes, there is an increase in appetite, I feel a bit chubby now, although they claim that it doesn't increase your appetite. Another thing that I noticed is that I used to have headache and felt like fever in the first couple of months using it (no longer now). My doctor also warned my on blood clot risk, especially if u r a smoker, or travel a lot, or over 30 years old. Just consult with your doctor.. I haven't tried Yasmin, coz I just knew about it few months ago. But anyway, I am happy enough with Diane and Yasmin is more expensive. Hope it helps!! ;) |

| My younger sister (22) takes Estelle for her skin. After around 5 or 6 months the results were really noticeable on her face and back. She still gets the occassional break-out (don't we all) but it's minor compared to how her skin used to be. I was taking Yasmin for about 3 years and it did wonders for my skin. I have recently stopped as I'm trying to conceive. Not sure what's happening with my body but everything is so up and down. Bad period pains, nausea, headaches. | I've actually found estelle to work for me.. Really cleared up my skin but it does take a while.. My appetite actually decreased - which i have heard of in a few people.. Admittedly I probably am more susceptible to feel flat having been on it.. but its ok. | i also used estelle, i found that after using it for 2 wks i was really depressed, tired,anxious,nausious, and had horrible muscle pain. i also went on it to clear up my acne however the doctor said it would take up to 6mths before seeing any change in my skin. after the 2 wks i decided to get off estelle. i have just started using yasmine and already finding it alot better. i also used proactiv and didnt like it you should try special cleansing gel by dermalogica. hope you see some positive changes :) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I've been on both Estelle and Yasmin in an attempt to clear up my skin. I started breaking out in acne while on Estelle (and looking back, it was probably due to stress), so I switched to Yasmin, in hopes of clearing up the skin and losing weight. Unfortunately, my skin did not improve at all, and eventually got worse, especially in summer. I went and saw my doctor and she told me that Estelle (or Diane) was slightly better than Yasmin for acne, and suggested I go back on that one. I'm about to start taking it again, and hopefully my skin will clear up. On another note, I was on Diane/Estelle for about 5 years and had completely clear skin during that period. It wasn't until I started working full time when I started breaking out again. |

| Some do have serious side effects - check the brochure in the packet or see your doctor again. My sons skin improved really well with a low gi diet (it is not a weight lose diet and is pretty easy). These are easy to look up on the net. | Hi guys, Hope you can help me? I've just started taking Estelle 35ED for my acne and for the bonus that its a contraceptive. I have been taking it for 9 days, and dont feel good at all. Cranky, irritable, fat (bloated/fluid retention) mood swings, increase in appetite. These are the reasons I have avoided the pill before for fear of these side effects. My skin hasnt cleared up yet, but what Im wondering is, is it the pill that is making me feel like this? even after as little as 9 days? How long do I have to stick it out, to decide whether I should try another contraceptive pill? my doctor suggests that I try Estelle first then give Yasmin a go, as he thinks it may be better, its just that it costs a lot more, thats why I thought I'd try Estelle first. As for the acne side of it, I've done the rounds too!Was on Roacctutane years ago, but obviously the effects didnt last. Tried proactiv (no good!) have had microdermabrasion and acid peel treatments. They were effective to old acne, but didnt stop the problem of new acne appearing. Hence I've started the pill. I really dont want to be feeling like I do right now. Has anyone tried both pills? I suppose its hard too, when everyones body reacts differently. Grateful for any advice..... |
