| wow you people really need to calm down on all this emo stuff. There just teenagers. I know a ton of kids who like to walk around and call themselves emo. All they do is wear black, have fringed hair and act like there morbid lives are ending. When in reality its all just an act. Emo is a label, just like preppy and jock is a label. Yes there are some emo kids who are seriously depressed and cut themselves, or cut themselves to fit in or do it so they can be called emo. dghgdfghgfh. WHATEVER. Parents need to calm down when it comes to there kids wearing black or not wanting to hang out with your all the time. Like i said, there just teenagers! |

| um actually its not just a fashion statement; its depression and there are quite alot of cutters out there. they find themselves worthless or are depressed so take it out on themselves. emos are something to be worried about, because it is mostly about depression |

| Emo stands for emotional goth. They basically wear the punk style, those plastic different colored bracelets that represent different things, and they wear alot of black. they are the opposite of preps who are more interested in like Hollister or Abercrombie. They shop at places like Hot Topic and they are actually pretty kewl. I'm preppy, but I hang out with a lot of emo kids. Some of them have serious emotional problems and resort to slitting their wrists to "take away the pain" or to distract their personal problems with this physical one. Some, however, just like the image and go with it. Be careful if you do have a self-multilating child. | A lot of people are scared about things and people that are different. if those people can't deal with the way your daughter dresses and the way she acts (no cutting i hope)then they are not good enough to be around her. Just tell her that people that have no problem with how she dresses and her believes are true friends. |

| Emo's and Goths are no different to the hippies and punk era. Yes, true some Emos cut themselves; most don't. Its all a fashion statement and nothing to be alarmed about. Goths wear all black, Emo's wear black with white and/or red or purple. Better to allow your teen to express themselves as teenagers so that they don't rebel in their adult years. Most kids just want to fit in with others. Just like we did in the hippy era. |

| Emos, Goths, and hippies (yes there are some still out there) are treated differently as they are the minority that is visually different thus easy to pick out in a crowd. They have been given a bad name as people believe they are into morbid, depressed or self mutilation when they are nothing of the sort they are just expressing themselves differently to others and it scares the other people esp. in schools. If your daughter just hangs out with her friends and i know this is hard jst try to ignore them or just smile at them and try to be nice, this drives the other people crazy and they give up, but saying that it can take a few weeks hope this helps |
