My son is 4 in a few weeks and still has regular accidents. He was past 3 before he started to use a toilet or potty. Every child is different. Sure, most kids learn how to use a toilet by about 3, but there will always be those that take longer.

My only advice is to chill out, and let him find his own way. He will.

Hi I would not worry to much about this he will learn in his own time. But kids get funny things in their heads about toilets my youngest thought a shark would bite his bum if he sat on one i ended up buying a small toilet seat that fits on top and telling him the shark can not fit his head in it problem now solved. but my oldest boy didn't like sitting down so i put a stool in the toilet so he can stand up and reach and put a pin pong ball in the toilet for him to aim at this was a great game and he went to the toilet a lot just so he could hit the ball try to make it fun another thing could be to make a chart and put on the toilet wall and every time he goes let him put a sticker on it this may help with getting him to tell you and after so many time offer a reward like a trip to the park or what ever he likes does he need to have you with him? or can you leave him in the toilet by himself maybe he is frightened to be on his own try putting some kids pitures on the walls or his own drawings to make it more attractive to go in there but honestly don't worry he will get it in his own time it is not uncommon and when he starts preschool he will see the other kids and follow good luck hope some of these work

Our son has been out of nappies for 11 mths day and night. He has only wet the bed a couple of times and was sick both times so nights are fine. Day time however we aren't making progress. He will never voluntarily go to the toilet even when you can see is is busting he will say he doesn't need to go. We have gotten used to his routine and as long as we make him go (which he is happy to do) regularly we don't have too many accidents but he is 3 next mth and starting preschool and I really want to get him at least telling us when he needs to go if not going by himself. I feel like I have tried everything I need some new ideas. I have never heard of a child that takes this long to toilet train.
