| Have you spoken with an Natural Therapist? The chinese are very good at teas and herbs that help with women's trouble in many areas. Most chinese women do not get PMT or menopause problems because of their diets. Natural is always safer and less invasive usually |

I pray that my daughter does not get endometriosis. Why is it that so many young women have this rotten disease. Stats are about 1 in 5 women.
A tremendous amount of women have to undergo IVF because of it and there is no cure. |

| Ride it out?? Are they kidding?? Perhaps they'd like someone to come over each month and scalp them or something. I was 13 when I got mine and from day one it was major pain. I looked like a drug addict going cold turkey, cold sweats, doubling pain, vomitting the lot. To make it worse my mother chose to tell me it was all part of growing up and I needed to learn to live with it. At 15 I was told I would never have kids, at 16 they told me the only way to end the pain was to have a hysterectomy. At 18 they said endometritis and after 3 years of trying I had a baby. I now know I have polycystic ovaries and endo. But as to your daughter, I really do feel for her. My own daughter is 11 and I can see it's coming, she's developing and the mood swings out do mine. One thing I will not be doing is telling her to get used to it. None of the drugs ever worked for me, herbal or otherwise. Diet has made a huge difference in recent years. Hot water bottles helped short term as did kneeling over a pile of cushions |

desperate mum, i have a daughter who is 9 she is developing very fast she has not yet had her periods but speaking for myself i too had my periods at 11 and very painfull. Some months i would need a needle from the hospital, lavender and heat packs, but there are so many herbal and natural ways of painreleif available now sorry i cant help you more, as for endometriosis i did eventually find out at 18 after having a laperoscopy that i too had it, as well as cysts on my ovaries that were lasered off in sugery, from then on my periods have still been sometime a bit sore and sometimes the ocasional panadol but no were remoteley near what they were. I'am not sure if that helps. With moodiness my daughter is going through it myself and her use the rescue remedy drops as well as evening primrose which are available at health food shops.
It must be terible to see your daughter in so much pain my thoughts to you both.

Hi Fondue,
I have just read your post and feel like im living my life all over again. I too had severe bleeding and periods from an early age, 11, and at 15 was diagnosed with endometriosis. I was in and out of hospital for many years and was told that I would have problems falling pregnant, thankfully i was one of the lucky ones and fell with first one straight away, second took a while.
If you can afford to do it I would highly recommend to you that you see a naturopath who prescribe Australian Bush Flower Remedies. I can get the name of someone in your area if you like. I have been seeing a naturopath for 8 months now and am coming along in leaps and bounds, finally after being diagnosed with endometriosis 16 years ago, I have had 2 pain free periods. Its really amazing.
It does take time however the benefits are incredible. I missed a lot of time off school and became an unrealiable employee later as a result.
I wish you the best of luck and thank you for being so supportive of your daughter. She really needs you even though at times it may not seem like it.
My thoughts are with you.
Cheers

| Hi Fonduejacuzzi - seeing how things are going with your daughter. Have you had any luck with getting help for her or have things improved? I have just come out of hospital after having a laparoscopy (as I still have severe pain but not as bad as when I was her age) - they said everything was "normal". I am beginning to think some of the pain is coming from my bowel as the contractions my uterus make upset my stomach etc. It's really hard to tell where the pain comes from. I have been doing some research into natural therapies - please contact me so I can give you some of the information I have found. Take care both of you. |

Hi Sweetie,
I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I too have had painful periods from a very early age. I have tried just about everything I think. I would be in and out of hospitals every month with anti-vomiting & cramping injections. I've taken everything from ponstan, to naprogesic, to naproxen suppositories and they all worked for either a couple of months until my body became used to it. I would vomit, have dihorrea, get the shakes, go pale, scream in pain,at one point my eyes started to roll into the back of my head and I almost passed out. Nurofen sometimes helps to relive the inflammation and pain as does using a wheat bag to relive the cramping. Be careful of nurofen though as it can cause stomach problems (dont have it on an empty stomach). I am 22 now and after being on the pill for a few years (which did eventually help) I have gone off them as I have been trying for the last two years to get pregnant with my husband. The pain has gradually started to come back and just last month saw me in hospital again in agony. I am trying to find out the best thing to help with this problem too. I think the best thing is to see a gyno - that is what i'm going to do. Just keep pressuring your doctor until someone is willing to help. I agree that your poor daughter shouldn't have to go through this. If your doctor wont help then you should find someone who will. I will be going to see the doctor in the next wk so if I get any info that might be useful to your daughter I will write again. Good luck xxx |

Hi again, fondue, if you would like the name of the Specialist that I see, please look up my email address, it should be on my profile.
Please give your daughter a big hug from me. I know that that will not help her pain and discomfort but maybe it might help her to know that I am thinking of her.
Again, TAKE CARE.
PS, My name is Kelly. |

| I am interested in anything that might help! She is home again today, and has just spent most of the weekend in her room. Poor thing. I imagine it's like going into labour.... Only every month. |

Hi Fondue and your dear daughter,
I am so sorry to hear of what your daughter has to go through each and every month at such a young age. It would be bad enough for the likes of you or I to have to go through what your daughter goes through each month, it truly must be terrible for her.
I understand that you and her GP and OBGYN have done all that they can to help her right now and that she is too young to go on the Pill, but as someone else said, have you thought about seeing an Endorcrinologist at all? I don't know if they would be able to help your daughter in any other way, but if you haven't taken her to one yet, maybe it might be worth a try!!
I see a very good Endorcinologist here in Sydney, so if you would like to know more about him please let me know!!
I just wish I could take some of your daughter's monthly pain away for her. No one should have to go through what she is going through as a 12 year old.
Please pass on my best to her and also please TAKE CARE. |

| I do agree with you as I was that couple of years older when I finally went on the pill and I had a very good result with it - the research may not have been completed at the time (I am now 40. I went off the pill and never had trouble with fertility but it's not worth risking). My daughter also gets bad pain but not the excessive bleeding, however, she is extremely fit (a karate black belt) and I think this may help her cope with the pain (she has learnt meditative techniques and how to control pain). I hope you find something to help. |

| Hi. Thanks for your post. My GP, and ob/gyn refuses to prescribe the pill as so much research suggests that it interferes with normal growth (both reproductively and physically). I'd love to put her o a magic pill, but do not want her to blame me in twenty years if she can't have a baby. At this srage she has made the decision to stick it out until she turns 14 (23 months to go:(). On her 14th birthday we will be the gp's door waiting for a miracle. |

| Sounds like me as a young girl. I went through exactly the same thing. They gave me hormone tablets taken on the 15th day (which is all good and well if periods are regular but mine were not. I finally went on the pill when I was 14 - I finally felt normal. I lost weight (as I think my hormones were crazy before going on the pill), my skin cleared up and I had hardly any pain. I was on the pill until I turned 22 and got married when a doctor said you should go off the pill in case you have trouble falling pregnant - I fell pregant 3 months into my marriage. Good luck and I feel for her and you. The pill should help the mood swings also. |

I use to be like that when i was her age and i think the best treatment is the pill. I was only young when the doctors put me on the pill. I know some mother's can be a little worry about giving such a young girl the pill but it'll help with her period dramatically. I have Polycystic ovarian syndrome. I was so alike your daughter and it really reflects on school work to. Best to find an answer and gp is the best. I would take her to the doctor and disuss the pill. Hey there's no harm in her being on it. It's good for some girls to learn responsibility young and the pill is just one step, they have to take responsibility for her body. I would probably see if you can see an endo/gyn. Your gp would be able to refer you to someone in your area.
She'll be okay with the great medication and doctor chin up |

please don't take what that freak said to heart. there are many idiots like that who just don't care about people.
Are the doctors helping your daughter now? Is there anything they can do to help her? It all just seems too unfair. |

| Is that supposed to help my daughter, who is now in hospital with Endometriosis. She's just had a blood transfusion, and then I come home to read this. Thankyou very much for your kind thoughts. Sick barstard. I can only assume that you would be a man..... If you are a female, you ought to be sterilised. |
