| you dont have to use a tampon because water stops your period from flowing but its a good idea to wear one to be on the safe side |

I have a ? about periods.
Actually, a couple. Please answer them to me asap.
1. My last period was light. Does this mean my one coming now will be heavier?
2. Getting my period scares me. I sometimes bleed heavily, other times light, and once I got my period for almost 2 weeks! Is something wrong with me? This is only my first year.
3. Why do I have to get my period while going on a trip? This really sucks! I'm going to Las Vegas in 3 days and I think my "table" is almost here. I got that "white stuff".
HELP! |

| Congratulations on becomming a young woman. Firstly you must learn that like people - no two periods are the same! Of course you can go swimming, you wont leave a trail of blood that people will see! You may want to investigate using tampons when you want to swim. Your period should typically last 5-7days with the first few days being heavier than the last few. You may have to change your pad or tampon more frequently during the first few days. Usually a female menstuation cycle is 26 days- if you like it is easier to remember that your next period is due in 1 month. If you have any further questions you should find a close female relative to talk to- school nurses can be helpful and now one needs to know why you are going to see them. I hope this helps. |

I have a few questions about my period.
1. Can I go swimming during my period?
2. How long will my period last?
3. How long will it be until I have the next period after the first one? |
