| jesus woman calm down! i mean i know you'r woried about your son but you can't even figure out how to turn off the capital letters button... see i'm emo i do most of the stuff he does and even worst my parent's trew me out cuz i proposed to my girlfriend (she's emo too) and im 16. about the bi/gay thing...don't worry i've made out even dated boys and im straight it's just fun and people stare what makes it more fun! my girlfriend's name is sara she cuts herself a lot i even had to talk to her cuz i love her too much to just let her bleed out i won't survive without her. seriously ALL we want is express ourselves we love being misunderstood by other 'tribes' being stared at! whatever you do DON'T send him to a shrink, DON'T push him to change, just let him know you love him and that you'll be there and that u support him whatever he is...don't do like my parents they still pretend that they only had one daughter, my sister couldn't be more diffrent then me, but i have Sara and she's all i need. so let me know if i helped out or not! |

| If I recall correctly when I was a teen, kids in different social groups liked to dress the same, there were punks, skinheads, jocks, gothics, kids that dressed like Boy George, the oh so popular crowd, the nerds, the long haired louts etc etc. I was friendly with them all they were just teenagers learnly to express themselves just like me! |

| Though there is great debate amongst music fans as to whether emo is even a music genre. It's just a label. Labels don't do anyone health any good. This coming from someone who is typically labelled an emo just because of my fashion sense. So to the person who posted the orignal topic, dont stress. Your son is a teen. And don't always believe everything you see in the media. |

| emo is a genre of music its used to be emotional hardcore, then emo hardcore, now its just emo... i'm a youth worker and a lot of 'emos' are not very popular kids, so please be understanding as most of them grow out of it! |

First of all, your teen son not talking to you rebelling and staying out all night. that describes most teens in 1st world countries. Seriously most people become highly angsty around that age and by full mature adulthood grow past this. As for the comments about Goths. how many Goths do you know that are actually negative at all in the social world. i am in fact a goth and all of my friends are fun loving happy and exciting people. the fact that they dress to stand out does not make them negative.
