Hi, I have also had a picky eater, I learnt a really cool thing a while ago and it has certainly worked for my child. WHat you do is, give your child a variety of options, let them choose what they want to eat, even if it is something junkish like chocolate or potato chips. My daughter was always a painful eater, would fight me whenever I gave her food, would refuse to eat, now I allow her to decide what to eat and although I don't always like what she chooses, it seems to have worked and she is eating a lot more than she was and is a lot happier, and so am I. I did struggle initially with the 'mother knows best' thing with regards to food, but have realised that to have an easier relationship with my daughter, i have had to let her make the choices herself and our household is a lot happier. I have been doing this for 3 yrs, she is now 6, i really recommend you give it a go, see what result you get.

Hi there,

I appreciate reading about your little girl. I was just on the net searching on how I can help my little boy who is having similiar problems. I ran into your messages. I'm glad she is doing much better and that she is living a normal life.

My little boy is active, however, he is not eating much. His appetite I would say is poor. From time to time he would eat good portion of mac & cheese. He is 2.5 now. But drinks alot of water or apple juice day and night. I have called his Doctor so that he can get a general checkup. Only two months ago, he would ask for his milk before his bed time and also during the night. But now, he refuses to drink milk. Any ideas? I will update all e-mails. Thank you very much...JS Charlotte, NC

Hi,
Yes, she perked up after a week or so... the dr. did a test and said all was clear and there was nothing to worry about, she was probably just going a little too flat out and needed some recoop time.
we made her bedtime a little earlier, cut out some rubbish, and brought in some iron suppliments and she seems to be a little better.
I too assumed diabetes, which worried me too, cos she is a pretty good kid when it comes to eating, and i squirmed at the thought if needles!
Shes a tough cookie, and firing on all cylinders now... unfortunately! lol... little miss full of beans!

hmm thought the same as schwang.. could have been a urinary tract thing too, does it hurt a little when she goes to the toilet, or is her wee cloudy???
I give my little one vita minis too, not sure that she needs them, but I guess it doesn't hurt, you can get fish oil tablets in a really nice blackberry flavour too, fish oil is good for so many things, hard to say what is wrong with your little one though.

Your last post was on 19 march. Could you let us know what happened? This sounds terrifying. I just assumed it was diabetes, but then you came back and said no.

HI, Sad to hear about you little angel. Sometimes a good nutritional suppliment can help young children sleep better. Not only that, I know a great one that comes in little chewable shapes. cheap as chips too. My girlfriends one year old, was always coughing and crabby, not sleeping the whole night, not eating properly. She gave these high quality vitamins, which are no 1 in Australia and with in a few days, the little on was laughing and eating and sleeping better. Nutrition in children is vital. Disease starts early these days in our babies because the food we eat is lacking nutrition, even the veg and fruit. It is good to have a supplement as well, just to bump up their Immune system. email me and I will let you know which one she gives her child. It is the best one on todays market, but costs less than $5week delivered to your door. cheers Icare

Hi again Sammy,

I hope that all goes well with your daughter and yes my fingers are also crossed for you.

Mind you IF the tests do come back to say that your daughter has Type 1 Diabetes, please know that while yes it will scare you abit at first, but please know that Diabetes doesn't have to control your child, she can control it.

I say this because I am Diabetic myself, I have had it now 7 years and am on tablets and insulin at night. I have been able to control my Diabetes very well so far.

Anyway, here's hoping for a good result and hopefully she will be fine, please let me know how it all goes and please Take Care! Love Kelly.

Hi Sammy,

I would suggest that you get your daughter to the Doctor as soon as you are able to. Ask your Doctor to run blood tests for the likes of Diabetes and other things as well.

I hope she will be ok soon.

4yo. Tired, losing weight, no appetite. Reply to this message
My 4 1/2 yo daughter has been very tired lately, falling asleep more than 3 hours before her normal bedtime, wetting the bed, up to 3 times a night, she hardly eats her food at daycare and is more thirsty than hungry.
I haven't been able to get a doctors appointment until next week. Can anyone maybe help shed some light on what might be up with my normally, hungry as a horse, 100 mile an hour little squirt?
:)
