hi kim! I'm Vero (RSA). I've read ur story n it gives me courage n it also inspires me. I had 2 miscarrages previously, one at 7months(2006),then the gynae doc diagnosed me with uterus incompetent. The other one was at 5months(2008) of which i had a shrodkar stitch and my membrane raptured. I really don't understand whether the doctor was neglegent coz he wanted 2 make money according 2 what he said or what? Coz i contacted the other gynae doc like him then he told me that i was suppose 2 be taking antibiotics after the stitch was put till i go on delivery.: To help with fighting the infections and bacterias. And he spoke about also to strengthen the membrane to avoid rapturing of the membrane.Right now i'm 12w and i had a macdonald stitch 2 days ago. May i ask if u were give any antibiotics after it was done until u deliver at 33w? My doctor told me that i will deliver at 34w. Plz help me my dear!

I lost my daughter in Febuary 2007 at 24 and a half weeks, that is when the doctors decided i was suffering from ic.IT is the hardest thing to have to walk out of the hospital knowing your not taking your baby home.I have got a carer for my mother and my partner is helping alot more around the house and with my two other children,so i can get more rest time know. I am willing to try anything to save these little bundles of joy i have growing inside me. I am keeping positive and cant wait for the day i walk out of hospital with my arms full. chat again soon. Ebony.

hai ebony I joined this link October 2007 after I lost my daughter to ic in 22weeks. The confidence that the people in this link gave me has helped me to become the mother of a beautiful boy. My son was born in 37 weeks and weighed 7 pounds. Ic can be beaten so hang on. When u get tired of bed rest just think of the happiness ur going to get for the rest of ur life because of this 9 mths of adjustment. When u hold ur baby I assure u, it will be definitely worth all the trouble.

Hi Ebony Im 45 and we lost 7 pregnancies 8 babies we now have 2 adopted boys and 2 biological boys eldest is 13 youngest 3. we did not loose them all to ci only 1 and the 2 boys l had the stitch in for. l hope your cramping has settled. l had no-one to talk to about my fears and my grief, l had to work through it myself and my husband so you feel free to talk to me anytime you want. l hope if anything comes out of the years of pain we went through its that we l can help others to cope with what there going through. l'm not shy about any of it feel free to ask any question and l'll answer the best l can. Where in vic do you live l'm in Geelong. My friends say l should right a book about fertility treatments miscarriages cervical incompetence depression and adoptiion. Life can throw alot at you.Has the doctor told you that you will probably end up on full rest later especially carrying twins. Hope to hear from you soon and that all is going well

Re:Incompetent Cervix & Pregnancy Loss Reply to this message
hi to all of you, it was great to come across this chat site and read everyone else's stories, this is my first pregnancy so dont really know alot about anything but hearing that other people have been through similar things is a great comfort. im currently 27 weeks pregnant with idnetical twins and so have been getting weekly scans and lots of care, but the docs have discovered that my cervix is now only 4mm and so are going to put in a suture. does anyone know much about the risks? is there anyway that you cervix can lengthen? as 4mm seems really short compared to everyone else! or is it only going to get shorter now? any info anybody has would be great. best of luck to anyone that is going through the same thing, my thoughts are with you x

Re:Incompetent Cervix & Pregnancy Loss Reply to this message
Hi Ebony. First thing is to have plenty of rest and put those feet up, you need to keep the pressure off the stitch for a while. l did have bit of cramping after the proceedure. But some cramping is not that unusual at the beginning of a pregnancy when the uterus is moving. The important thing is if you have any doubts or fears call your doctor, thats what they are there for. Its your pregnancy and you have the right to feel confident about it. Bug the hell out of your Doc if you want, thats what there there for. Have you peviously lost a baby to CI or did your Doc notice a shortening of the cervix. Where do you live l'm in Vic you can email me directly if you want to talk l remember how scary it was and luckily l had a good doc who let me come see him at the drop of the hat.Hope all goes well with all three of you. Deb

Re:Incompetent Cervix & Pregnancy Loss Reply to this message
Hi ladies!
Just wanted to share that I'm going through this right now, with the best outlook from my doctors. My cervical incompetence was detected at 19w5d on my ultrasound. It has been a long week on bedrest, but my doctors have told me repeatedly how lucky I am. (not to rub it in, I'm sorry). I received 2 stitches in my 1.5cm cervix that was already tunnelling.

It was almost missed however, so PLEASE be sure to get it measured with every ultrasound. I would have lost this baby if I hadn't asked her to check!

If you need someone to talk to email me or l'll give you my phone number. what state do you live in.

Re:Incompetent Cervix & Pregnancy Loss Reply to this message
The only thing more scarey than trying for another baby is not trying believe me. l lost seven pregnancies. 6 were during fertility treatments for PCOS and went on to adopt 2 children only to fall pregnant out of the blue and loose her to CI. l had to make the decision to try again best decision l ever made.l had hard pregnancies but managed to have 2 successful ones with the stitch. l am the mother of 4 boys and although l will never forget the pain of loosing my children, l will never forget the joy of looking into the faces of my newborn sons. To all you ladies out there hang in there it may not feel it now but its worth it all in the end. Good luck to you all.
Debbie

hang in there hon l was hospitalized at 22.5 weeks with son and restricted to bed in hospital just do everything they tell you to do. l did and was allowed to leave at 31 weeks on condition of full bedrest at home. Doctor at home removed stitch at 36 weeks and son was born that night. l was in the royal womens in melbourne and watched many mums like you come and go and saw their beautiful premi babies born and grow to healthy babies and move out of the intensive care nursry and then home l know it can be lonely and scarey email me if you need to talk good luck
to you both.

Re:Incompetent Cervix & Pregnancy Loss Reply to this message
hello, i lost my first son Mason, 1 week ago at 18 weeks due to ic, a condition i'd heard of but didn't think would happen to me especially after all we went through to concieve. I have poly cystic ovaries and endometriosis, so losing him has been the hardest and most testing time of my life, after going through A.I. I am totally suprised how much ic has affected sooo many people, and am grateful to hear of the success stories that have been posted, it gives me and my husband hope for the future, thanks for sharing your stories it is truly helping us through this most difficult time in our life.
